I love the neighborhoods album. It was like a Blink-182 album featuring Box Car Racer, +44, and AvA. Criminally underrated for the amount of genius they put into it.

@@socksmccox1025 I think California is one of their greatest, brought back some of their earlier, OG blink humor and subject matter. Granted not every song is a eager, but cynical, bored to death, rabbit hole are faves of mine.

I often forget how creative and awesome Mark Hoppus and so many pop-punk bassists are. Yeah they could get away with just playing the root and the general audience probably wouldn't notice. But they put the work in and play these tasty licks too.

I've recently gotten into recording after realizing how unlimited it is, and how much more complex a band's recording is compared to playing it live. I spent many years in bands and always thought it lacked details in rehearsals, even when using great equipment. Having a home studio and learning to use a DAW really opened a whole new world for me. Music makes more sense now.

It's amazing to see all the parts the live shows miss since they're a simplified version. This album they recorded separately too which is even more amazing. ALSO HIDDEN 6 STRING BASS AGAIN

Dude these videos are a huge guilty pleasure for me. Thank you so much for putting in the time to dissect Blink’s music. Self-titled will forever be their most well-produced, experimental and unique album but Neighbourhoods is a testament to how Blink could still smash out an album despite living in different cities, not particularly getting along and basically producing it themselves. Something special happens when they lay down tracks together which you’ve proven in these videos. Keep it up mate!

It makes sense that it sounds like a BCR riff. Tom had this riff tucked away in his back pocket since before blink recorded the untitled album. You can see him playing it in their MTV album launch video in the studio in 2003

I don't think Matt uses any of his normal gear in blink. I'm pretty sure they just use a Kemper - as Feldy is producing - and that's his go-to sound.

@@project6975 About 4-5 years I think. I studied music production at college, but didn't really get anywhere until I finished and then just started learning on my own. There's tons of information on KZbin, and other sites, if you're looking to get into it.

@SugarpillProd2 жыл бұрын
@@project6975 So if you're interested in the mixing side of things, Produce Like A Pro and In The Mix are some pretty good starting points. They cover the basics and more advanced stuff. If you're interested in songwriting, Make Pop Music covers quite a lot of ground on a bunch of different genres. JST also has a lot of usual tips for both production and mixing. There's a good course by Andrew Wade on tracking guitars, if you want to get deeper into recording certain instruments. Charlie Puth's course is great for a beginner songwriter too. I'd just suggest getting a DAW and messing around with some plugins, and just go from there. Reaper has a never-ending trail, so that's a good starting point. Hope that helps!

It’s still better then crapiforna and 9 and the upcoming album f skiba and Feldman blink needs an angels and airwaves sound and heart and feel
@88Rancidfan2 жыл бұрын
Skiba has no blame in this, he's probably the best lyricist in the genre but has to deal with the entirely different direction of blink than Alkaline Trio. His lyrics are really dumbed down in Blink. I mostly blame Feldman for the generic sound and direction. Plus Tom said a couple weeks ago that if he returned to Blink, he'd leave out the AVA sound since he's used it enough.

I didn't like it for a long time either but it's an okay song to me now, yeah the main riff is strange, but it's cool in its own way, I really like the verses and the chorus guitar riff. But yeah, they could have chosen other one as a first single
