The ordinary eye doctors couldn't help me. Like you said, it has a big impact on my life, but it isn't taken seriously. I went to a specialist, who was much better and gave me steroid drops and a tea tree eye cleaning product. It feels a bit better now. I've had facial rosacea and seborrheic scalp problems for years, but suddenly, it just disappeared, so I hope this "chronic" disease will do the same.

I had worsening dry eye to the point where I could no longer wear contact lenses for more than a couple hours. I switched to glasses but decided to get Lasik before the dry eye got any worse so there wouldnt be complications healing from the surgery. I have spent thousands of dollars on both prescription and nonprescription eye drops but I attribute the gradual improvement to change in diet. I also suffered from stomach problems and then Reynaud's. Cutting out all simple carbs and processed food combined with adding in cod liver oil, fresh and frozen berries, cooked cruciferous vegetables and salad with olive oil has improved all of my symptoms. A radical change in diet can take months for the gut to adapt to (mine did) but my dry eye is 50% better than a year ago and I think it's still improving because my GI issues are still improving. If you are suffering from dry, scratchy eyes, assess your diet and start replacing as many processed foods as possible with fresh fruits and/or veggies and commit to it for 3 months. No packaged snacks. Eat salmon at least once per week for dinner. See if your dry eye doesn't show some improvement.

I've had dry eyes for years and years. I saw my optometrist 2 weeks ago and found out that now have cornea abrasions to the point where there's a small hole in my left cornea. She told me to use preservative eye drops every hour for a week (She provided I-Drop Pur drops) and told me to use Systane gel drops at night before bed. I also have a cataract in that eye. I'll be seeing an eye specialist but not sure when I'll get in. All of that being said, I take 50mg of Amitriptyline every night and have for 20 year, which gives me dry mouth. Looks like that's one of the culprits here. I take that for Fibromyalgia and am not willing to stop taking it because it's given me a decent quality of life. Thanks for this video, very informative. I can't wait to see the Ophthalmologist and see what, if anything else can be done for me. At the moment my eye can detect nothing but a blur......Yes, my symptoms fluctuate and sometimes it seems the eye drops don't work until I've put them in 3-4 times over a few hours.

For those struggling with dry eyes, application of castor oil ( organic cold pressed) is a good remedy
@rdwok148 ай бұрын
I keep hearing about this, but nobody will say exactly how to do it because most doctors will tell you it’s not safe. I drop a drop onto a freshly washed hand, squint my eye very narrow, and wipe the drop across the narrow opening in my eyelid and then blink a lot. I end up getting a very heavy and sticky sensation on my eye that blurs my vision, so after blinking for a minute I’ll put a drop of Systane Ultra which helps clear the sensation and prevent watery/burning that a lot of people say happens when you put pure castor oil on the eye. I also only do it at night before sleeping because it’s hard to focus my eyes with the oil. I find that this will relieve my dry eyes for the next day, and the day after that but if I don’t put castor oil again the night of the 2nd day then my eyes will get unbearably watery and dry the 3rd day.

I have severe dry eye. I was on Tyrvaya for a couple years and really liked it. I started on Miebo four months ago, and it has been a HUGE help. My dry eyes is due to having used Accutane about 35 years ago. Miebo works by reducing the evaporation of tears, and it is the first eye drop to work in this way. Miebo costs $834/month, by prescription in the U.S., but Europe has a product called EvoTears ($17/month) that is over the counter and is the same as Miebo. I met with my eye doctor today and she said EvoTears would be fine to use in place of Miebo, as it doesn't have any preservatives. p.s. I started having sinus headaches with Tyrvaya a couple months before I started on EvoTears. I've been off Tyrvaya for a month, since EvoTears is working so well for me and I will probably stay off it.

Socialized medicine isn't awful but it isn't good either (specially when there's no real private / free market sector for people who want to prioritize their health or that are too sick and want access to high quality). When you don't pay for it, you're not the customer. Doctors here can't even set their own prices, so there's not motivation for them to compete against each other. Sorry. Unrelated, maybe. Pls see a dry eye specialist for proper assessment & treatment. Pls don’t use any eye drops or products that contain preservatives because some preservatives eg BAK is toxic to the cornea, making your eyes more dry, irritated and inflammed. Read the labels, and check with the pharmacist.😊

I've been diagnosed with a type of autoimmune condition that makes the oil glands (or ducts?) in my lower lids. I was told to warm a Bruder mask in the microwave, place it on my lids and after 15 minutes, massage the lower lid and gently express the edge of the lid so the thick gunk is cleaned out. Im supposed to do that 3x daily. Im 64, disabled with severe rheumatoid arthritis, Felty's Syndrome, osteoporosis and diabetes. I have a 26 year old daughter on the autism spectrum, with adhd, and severe OCD. I am unable to do this and frequently even forget about it. I have cataracts that need to be fixed, but am on disability and am unable to afford it. My opthalmologist said i could have a procedure that an instrument would be used to clean out the oil ducts/glands. That would cost $1-2,000 per eye, which i cannot do. What else can i do? My eyes sometimes hurt in the morning d/t dryness.
