I bought a KASTKING Brutus reel on sight. Had no idea if it was good or bad. When I unboxed it I was like, it is so small! This looks like a piece of junk. Then I tried it out and was blown away!!! I have a Speed D. Elite reel i use on my frog'n rod I love it. Speed is important because with it i can cover more water and what i mean by that is. When you make a cast you are really only targeting a certain area. Once you reel past the target zone you want to be able to retrieve your lure as fast as possible. To make the next cast. And when you hook up on a fish that's way back in the weeds and muck. Or around a lot of structure. You want to be able to really hustle that fish out of the danger zone a.s.a.p. so speed is GOOD lol the only thing i can say negative about such a fast reel is. When you first set the hook and start to reel it in A 5 lbs bass will sometimes fill like a 7 lbs bass because a speed gear will be a little harder to crank than a power gear. But i love my Kastking speed demon elite.

On the centrifugal breaking reel, 6 brakes in there, is it necessary to keep an even # of brakes applied or is it possible to have an odd # applied without causing reel to get out of balance?

Keep it an even number and alway opposite of the other.

Everything is fine with the demon elite, but it has a fatal flaw ... a noisy coffee grinder sounds when recovering and that makes me suspect that the gears are working forced to the maximum and their duration will be short. I'm sorry but it's the truth I just bought one and without having used it it already sounds very ugly
