I gained almost 10 inches over 2 years, it wasn't linear gains, after the first 4 inches from newbie gains and jump approach correction, I met a plateau. It wasn't exactly a paused result in my training but rather it was because the result from past work hasn't been appearing yet. I kept at it and now I'm jumping even higher and it's still increasing, if I deload now and let my body feel fresh by staying away from the weight room again, I would be jumping so much higher than before. But doing that now would hinder my future progress so I choose to keep investing and trust the process.

It's interesting listening to how you guys do it now.. Back in 91' I hit 39" at 6'2"...All we had were the platform jump shoes training and a $19.99 pamphlet (that came in the mail) with vertical exercises. I didn't start balling till 10th grade. I skated from 6th grade to 10th. That's where my leg strength came from.

Jumpsoles I think they were called. Not sure what those did other than destroy your calves. Skating was great for jumping just for the high level speed/coordination you need to just do a basic ollie or kickflip.

What kind of meniscus injury Austin? Would love to hear your about your rehab process. Recently had surgery to repair a bucket handle tear and wondering about the process of eventually ramping up to high intensity training again. Assume you guys see that kind of stuff fairly often as an occupational hazard. Love the slew of content recently. Keep it up!

Your advice to not have a timeline is good, but I am short,old, and fat. Should I not have a timeline like dunk before 30? I feel like my days are numbered and the odds to get my first dunk decrease a percentage point every day, hence the timeline

Losing weight is pretty easy you just have to be consistent, you can still train your vertical indirectly while losing weight aswell. Building muscle from vert training can increase your metabolism too making losing weight easier

@carsforpeople3351
@carsforpeople3351 5 ай бұрын
It really depends on your height and standing reach. If you’re below 6ft with short arms then it’ll take you A LOT of work to dunk but I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. Knees over toes guy on KZbin has a lot of good videos that you could start with.
@lostwoods2576
@lostwoods2576 5 ай бұрын
Doing plyo's right now in my opinion wouldn't be a good idea if you are 25lbs over weight and have knee issues. You have a really good height advantage so if you were to lose that 25 lbs your knees would probably hurt less and then you could start easing into doing plyos, If I were you I'd do strength training until you slim down so that you preserve the muscle you have gained from carrying that extra 25 lbs and if you haven't been strength training already you'll probably gain some muscle too due to all the extra energy stores (fat) you have on your body as long as you get adequate amounts of protein.
@dennisrobinson8008
@dennisrobinson8008 5 ай бұрын
You should lose the weight and get your body comp back in order before trying to jump. Get your strength back to at least where it was when you were 35. That part alone might take 4-6 months of work. I'd be working mobility as well while i'm getting stronger. By then you will be fit and ready to jump.

hi Isaiah, im kinda confused. Ive heard you say that doing the same exercises again and again can decrease progress, but you also have a video where you explain that you have been doing the same morning routine for years. Does this principle not apply?

you gotta have different variations of it thoo and progressiveley overloading the intensity (like your 1 Rep Max percentage) not the reps and Sets because there's a required optimal rep range for every percentage of 1RM
