She was snuggled right up to you Jami, and she looks like she had a smile in the video. You and Lester are such softies. It’s a shame people are mislead when they buy them pigs. Like at Easter when people buy rabbits and then grow tired of them and release them into the wild. So sad.. she’s a lucky beautiful girl that’s for sure
@Gloria-ro4vn3 жыл бұрын
Of course the sad truth is, domesticated rabbits die because they can not live in the wild. I also get mad at people who buy ducklings at Easter. Ducks are dirty and messy, so of course when that duckling grows up people don't want them and then they are dumped.

Well done Jamie. Every animal is a big commitment, people don’t realize when they see cute kitties, puppies , piggies , etc that is is a lifestyle and honestly , monetary commitment for the long haul. I love my fur babies and I k ow you do too but thanks for also sharing this important message !

She’s a sweetheart. Suppose it won’t be too difficult for her to learn to be a real pig, cause she’s gonna need to to stand a chance. MAYBE she is your answer to Journey having a companion, even tho you’re trying Sissy. You gotta tell Lester just because he’s got a pretty face and bats his eyes at you isn’t going to work anymore. It’s both of you in this now. Frankly, I’d smack him with the pan before you sterilize it. What was he thinking! He doesn’t truly realize what he has with you as a partner. Thank you for sharing Lola’s backstory, everybody has one, good or bad. Pet Lola for me….I keep hearing Barry Manilow in my head. You know Jamie, I’ve thought for several years that children’s books about the sanctuary animals would be a big hit. I know you guys have busy lives and there is only so much time in the day. But you have a chance to teach lessons and Lola’s story is just that. Maybe it’s time to test the waters. I know your followers would purchase the books if they were available. The number of followers you have might catch the attention of a publisher. There are publishers that will buy stories and use there own illustrators. Or you can self publish. If it’s something that interests you I’ll bet someone would volunteer to research self publishing. I really think you guys have stories to tell and not just online. Love you! I think, given the chance, you and Lola can be best buds. Ooo! Lester would be so jealous.

They could come stay a few days and get a feel for how Jami and Lester would want it to be written, write it, send it to J&L to be corrected and approved and then J&L could get the pics together for the illustrations!! I'd do it!! I've written a few short stories. I just love the idea and have no doubt it would sell like hotcakes!! I'm a retired elementary teacher and I would have loved to have something like this in my personal student library!!

I'm kinda the pig Lady in my area. People ask me about pot bellies. The first thing I tell them is there's no such thing as a mini or micro pig. I tell them that they get 200-300 pounds. I also tell them that even putting them outside requires pig proof fencing and that they rut up the ground. They don't sweat do they need shade, mud and a pool. They are wonderful little creatures but they require certain things that nonfarmers cannot provide. Rescues here are full of Lola's. I'm so glad you were able to take her in. She'll have a wonderful pigs life with you and pig Newton.

Preach Jami! Pets are a huge commitment and people can't see beyond their cuteness. The rehoming rate on exotic pets is ridiculously high. Write up an agreement that says he can NOT acquire a new animal while you are out of town and have him sign it. You will soon forgive Lester. He always says it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. However, I believe the opposite is more courteous.

Thanks for that explanation, Jamie. So many of us were asking the same questions you were. In Lester’s video about Lola’s arrival and her story, it was easy to tell how sensitive he was about being asked about where she came from, and why and how she came to be with y’all. You could tell he was trying to be nice about it, but he told us that not every animal has a story, and that if y’all want to bring another animal to the farm, then this was something he could do without explaining it to everyone. - He wasn’t his usual self. - I think he misunderstood our questions. At least in my case. I wasn’t thinking he owed anyone an explanation, but since y’all have explained every other animal’s backstory, we were simply curious about Lola (Lolllita). - Anyhoo, I think most of us animal lovers have been caught in a moment of weakness and brought home an animal we hadn’t planned on; we understand. And Lola is a cutie; hope she turns out to be as good a fit for the farm as she looks to be.

Your heart is bigger than Texas I spent over 25 years in the dog and cat industry as a groomer I can’t tell you how many animals I have save and how much money I have spent. It breaks your heart . Jami, what a great video. And you're exactly right people don't realize or do their research before getting a new pet, in this case Lola. Yes all babies are cute and beautiful when they're tiny little ones but in the case of a pig those little teeny piglets grow up to be big. And it's not the pig's fault that someone falls in love with them because they're so cute and tiny. And I can see how Lester had a weak moment when it came to Lola. She is adorable and she's a little unique with her coloring. All of the other pigs on the sanctuary are black. Roland was the only other one that was different. So maybe Lola reminded Lester of Roland, and he just couldn't say no. So Jami, I think maybe you need to dress Lola up with a bonnet, maybe a tutu and even paint her toenails. Because I'm sure you've already fallen in love with her. Now it's our turn to fall in love with her as well. Thank you for everything that you and Lester do for all of those beautiful animals. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you, Jami. This kind if education is important. I have owned Weimaraners for 40 years. I started before I heard of William Wegman, who photographs Weims. But when his popularity grew, so did the Weim population and so did the need for rescue, which I have been doing for almost 40 years. Good afternoon Jami. Lucky Lola is going to win your heart over too. Just look at her laying down close to you even though she was trying to get you out of her spot. She looks like she's always smiling now that she has found a place she absolutely enjoys. Thanks for stating the message about how much of a commitment it is when you bring a pet home. I have had two cats in the last 39 years but none in the last 7 years. Both did get sick and I couldn't save them as they were too far gone before I really realized how bad it was. Both were long term kitties that I had, one 8 years old the other was 15 yrs old. One outdoor kitty the first one and he got into something that made him terribly sick quickly. My Silver kitty was the 15 yrs old and he was indoor kitty. I used to use Voltaren lotion for my knees and didn't know that it was toxic to animals especially cats and dogs. When I used to put it on Silver would come and lick it as if catnip. That is what I believe made him sick past being able to help him. Now we can't have animals at our building but I sure missing have the companionship of a cat. Have a good day.
