I hate what looksmaxxers have done to the classic 1-10 scale, it is basically now the 1-8 scale. Face rating salesmen cut out 9 and 10 so as to compress the scale, because it allowed them to rate normal people lower than they should have been rated. Thus people would buy more services if they got told they were a 4 whereas if they got told they were a 6 they would think that they're fine and not be open to an upsell.

In my way of looking at ratings 5 doesn't mean average, 5 doesn't mean someone is around the middle in the world rankings of attractiveness in comparison to world population. 5 is just the in-between the worst a human could ever look and the best a human could ever look. So average shouldn't refer to the average person but the average between the best possible looking and the worst. If for example almost everyone was from good looking to extremely good looking 5s would be rare.
