Luigi is a murderer. But he did not kill an innocent man. That’s my perspective
@ACWhoCares22 күн бұрын
I can get on board with this but then again...what would make you innocent then? Because sometiems I think we're all complicit a bit by simply existing in the systems we exist in, even i we're ourselfs are against them or would lke to reform them?
@economobservКүн бұрын
Is it Luigi? He is too emotional for that.
@sanilux-l2rКүн бұрын
@ACWhoCares2 Well I think a really 'innocent' person (ethical) can go two ways: try and change the system they are in/make it better, or not participate in the unjust systems and live off grid. So unless a person is doing either of those things, they are 100% complicit. Not saying it's easy but it's not like people don't have free will.
@theresaf3688Күн бұрын
@ACWhoCares2 No, we are not responsible. This system was created and maintained by bureaucrats, not the general public. Have you ever personally denied someone’s claims? Clearly not. Were you the one who pushed for a policy relying on an AI with a 90% error rate to reject claims? Of course not. This wrongdoing lies entirely with those at the top. So don't try to spread the blame to the masses when it is solely the 1% in power who are at fault.
@theresaf3688Күн бұрын
@@economobserv I think the evidence are pretty damning so far. And the fbi and NYPD going so hard to pile up so many offences on him shows they think they can hold him accountable I personally think if Luigi is walking out free, it may be due to a hung jury or jury nullification. The people will have to rescue him because the system has been built in such a way that he’s set up to fail his defence

Thank you for saying this, apparently lots of people don’t understand how bad this is. It’s not as simple as just moving to a different country as well, you have to have the money to move, you have to go through the legality of it, you have to leave your HOME, you have to learn a new way of living, you have to potentially leave your family. It’s just crazy that some people seem to think “well if it’s bad just leave”.
@marta-201Күн бұрын
@@SmokyAH i would never tell people to move away if they have a problem in their own homeland rather than trying to fix it , people divorcing in the US at the first sign of death fearing to pass dept to their loved ones is just SICK , the health system in the US is sick , it needs fixing and again the US has so much money and is able to do it. again i live in the middle east and we are nowhere near the wealth of the US and granted we have less people but still a lot of places have universal FREE health care it's not a fairytale there is evidence in this world of it being possible, but every US leader turns out to be more greedy than the one before and they never change anything. also i hear some US people not wanting free healthcare for fear of them paying it from tax even though they are doing worse right now ,so some of the blame is on them too

20:00 I think a lot of the people and institutions condemning the public's reaction to this forget that we already take into account motive and intention when convicting someone of murder. It's the difference between first and second-degree murder, involuntary versus reckless manslaughter. If you kill someone during the commission of another crime it's taken into account. If you kill someone in self-defence it is taken into account. If you kill someone due to their race, gender or sexuality it is taken into account. If you kill someone for material gain it is taken into account. If you kill someone for a political reason it is taken into account. If someone in your care dies due to neglect- something I could argue large portions of the US health insurance industry commits on a massive scale every damn day- that is also taken into account. Hell on a federal level and in a majority of states, the gay or trans panic defence is still allowed despite how absolutely disgusting and dehumanising it is. It's literally built into the justice system that your motive matters, and yet they're so shocked that everyone is looking at Luigi Mangione, hearing his why and thinking "you know what, fair."

Two minutes in but just wanted to chime in, you can't violate hippa by disclosing your own healthcare information, those laws are to stop doctors, insurance companies and other related businesses in the healthcare industry from disclosing patient information without permission. Such as disclosing information to your family members without permission, detailing your case in a public format without removing information that could be used to identify you or accessing your health information when they are no longer being consulted on the case.

Healthcare is horrible 😭 My mom has been having some complications recently but her hospital visits are spanned out over multiple months. Like she had an appointment in late July/ early September and had to wait untill November. She had brainscans scheduled but our insurance company sayed they weren't covering it because it "didn't seem necessary" the doctors started fighting to get it approved. They found out what was wrong but now she needs more operations to correct it. We're stressing that the insurance will try to deny again
@stasyakol4712 күн бұрын
Coming from a free healthcare system: I can have any appointment, any check up, and any screening done completely free. Sometimes, if it's not an emergency, you'll have to wait for a week or less, because the doctors are booked, but overall it's a pretty easy system. But, here's the downsize, because it's free, the salary of government health care workers is actually one of the lowest in the country, so the quality of the service may be pretty bad. The doctors are not really motivited to provide more than basic stuff, and they're overworked, so that effects the quality too. Not saying that always the case though, because I've met really good doctors and medical stuff, who were willing to go far and beyond to help my family member. So for things like common cold, sprained ankle or whatever more or less non treathining condition, going to the government hospital is a no brainer. You'll just have to buy the meds you got prescribed, which sometimes can be pricey, but not enough to make go into debt per se. We also have private medical establishments (?), which are not free, you're paying for the visits. But those are also highly regulated by the government, and have a price list, which you can check beforehand.

Since you asked about our experience, I live in Brazil. we have free universal health care (SUS) and private care. SUS covers everyone even foreign residents or tourists, of course, there are problems such as delays in service, but I think it's a service essential for human dignity, they cover many more things such as ambulances (I didn't know anyone pays for that before hearing about USA health system). Also because of that many medicines and exams are free or cheaper. You can also pay for health insurance if you can afford it, a normal healthy person would be like 250 dollars, but the coverage is way better, almost total in most cases. I would rather pay more taxes and have decent access to health services, than being able to go bankrupt if I break a leg or have a child.

I always hear Americans complaining that countries with socialized healthcare have long waits to access healthcare. Well, when my sister, who lives in Seattle, had a lymphnode in her neck that was swollen for a couple months BEFORE she scheduled her appointment, she had to wait an additional SIX MONTHS to see a primary care physician who was "in network." Also, my favorite books are The Hunger Games trilogy, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford, and Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi.

From Germany here: our health are system ist the best aswell BUT compared to America? The amount of time I go to the doctor. For chronic problems and sometimes just for bloodwork to see if everything is okay. I never paid one cent for all of that. I get sick? I go to the doctor. Breaking my foot in the middle of the night? I'm calling an ambulance and go to the hospital. The only thing I have to pay is for medications when I have a prescription... and that's 10% of the medication cost but 10€ max per medication. Which is NOTHING compared to the US. Inhaler for my cat for her asthma which I have to pay out of pocket? 23€. It's really insane hearing so much about health care in the US and I can't understand how everything of this isn't illegal.

I can only speak for Sweden's healthcare. All treatments are free until you turn 18, older for the dentist, and everything has a roof. When you reach 143 USD in spending in a year, you get 50% on all healthcare. When you have spent 207 USD in a year you get 75% on all healthcare. When you have spent 266 USD in a year you get 90% on all healthcare and when you have spent 285 USD in a year you get free healthcare. Doctor visits cost 20 USD, blood sample cost 5 USD, and visitiing a speacialist cost 50 USD. (All this numbers are kind of the conversion rate of SEK to USD. If you want to know how much everything is in SEK just multiply every number with 10).

I mean you can have the state cover you without any cost if you cannot pay for it and pretty much all employers provide some kind of help with paying for this if you are working and let's say the max you pay are around 40 bucks and you get meds and surgery if needed, scans and labs everything without having to pay anything additional. Also you can get coverage up until you're 25 years old if you are studying or can't pay for it. Kids under 18 have it for free no need to pay for any of that... you pretty much just show up at the emergency room and wait for your turn and then get all you need done and go back home pretty late but whith your surgery completed and a bag full of pills and stuff to get better.

I have a disease that is not common all around the world, and my medicine is pretty expensive, it's about 3 thousand reais, which is very expensive for us. But in a meter of less than 3 months the government accepted the request for paying my medicine, and now I have it for free for the rest of my life. Concerning how the healthcare system works in other countries, I live in France and it's ok. It's actually pretty affordable most of it is covered by social security (70%) and the complement covers 30% , I had to pay around 300€ for surgery it was around 1500€ at first but they covered the rest. If you have to go to a more specialised doctor you might have to wait 6 months, and if you are going to a private practice some of them are not covered by the social security.

I do have mixed feelings about this case, on one hand Luigi is a murderer he did kill someone and it was premeditated, murder is murder. But on the other hand, the man that he killed was not innocent either, so, does it justify murder? No, but it's hard to feel sympathy for the victim too

The state and media have tricked you into thinking murder is bad. "All murder is bad and that's not how we conduct the rule of law in America". Meanwhile the state imprisons and kills people quietly away from the public. You still think murder is wrong? You still think the state and media really believe that? Nope. "Killing people is wrong and immortal unless we do it" is their belief. Why can't the citizens feel the same way?

With all the things we know about now(adays) doesn't seem so far off for "back in those days!". Back to context: I am still not sure hat to make out of the situation it legit hasn't been fealing "real" to me here overseas since it has begun and many people brought comparision up to movies I've never watched, but I probably w/could see where they coming from. At least that what it felt like on this side. If I learned something this year overall is, there should never be a justification for people dropping 💣 and 🔫 on anyone at any time of day or night but there are usually explinations (like this Video) how it ened up there in the first place.. and as much as it sickens me usually it does end up being quiete "understandably". I'm absolutely losing it at some of the netizen jokes. Is it because I condone Luigi's alleged crime? No. Because as someone that works in urgent care, I see all too often how f***ed up American Healthcare is and how much a joke insurances are. The amount of times we have to let people know that we can see them but we are out of network with their insurance and they may not pay for their visit is a daily basis. How we might prescribe certain medications, but we get calls to change them because insurances won't cover them. These coping comments are something I deal with on a daily basis, so how can I not laugh at how accurate the jokes are? Side note, the day Luigi was caught, one of my MAs (medical assistant) found out about the UH shooting and was horrified at the jokes that were being made as she said, "He was still a man with a family - doesnt mean he deserved to die!" The more she read up on UH's issues and his hand in it....the less empathy she had on the man

He killed a man in cold blood. The fact people are asking him to be released is sickening.

Luigi screwed his own life and his family when all he really should have done is walked away from the Hilton before it ever happened. As he’s facing murder chargers the other blokes dead and with many grieving on both sides.
