I’m excited to hear more about cosmetic needling! I’m just rolling with a .25 once a week so far. I have so many devices and I was trying to squeeze them all in. What I noticed was my skin started to look worse, not better. I’ve decided to simplify my routine. I agree with you. Less is more. Great video!
@amperage80323 жыл бұрын
Worse from the MN or the use of many devises? I MN at .3 and only have a few devices. I agree that it all could become overwhelming so I have been hesitant on what to incorporate next. I need something to tighten (not sure which to get) and I don’t have a medical grade pen so that is where I Thought my next move should be. Not altogether sure though. I have heard from others that getting too many things can be counterproductive, as you have said. Cautiously proceeding....

When thinking about the body (stretch marks, skin tone etc) how deep is ok at home? I’d read that 2mm (medical rolling right?) was around the right length to reach the layers needed to see a change but is that still the case? I’m wondering about your comment about collagen damage and how best to avoid that. (Not expecting miracles but have a lot of damage I’d like to, if not fix, improve and want to make a real go of it and not make things worse.) Good video, nice to see a measured and balanced tone rather than hysteria and incorrect facts. 💕

Hi Penn! I'm amazed by the photos of the results you showed in the video. In the caption it says that the microneedling depth was 0.2 for ten months and 0.3 for six months, but how often were the microneedling sessions done? How long between sessions? Thank you

You're the best. The information you impart is so important Quick question... do you still advise using denture cleaner to clean a dermaroller?

I read on your questionnaire, “milia can form”. What would cause that or how can milia formation be prevented? Also on that topic, can milia be treated at home? If so, please do a video on how that can be done ?

Omg I'm so impressed I couldn't tell difference in my face till now which is like 3 microneedling and 1 nano . I'm amazed my laugh lines aren't as deep. Nothing is as deep but it has taken this long to see results I started at 0.25 I never go deeper than o.6.

When I used the Timeless derma roller 2 years ago, I used to feel the pain while doing it. I use 1mm from Angel Kiss this time, and I don't feel it that much! Can you please explain the difference to me? Thank you!

Hi I have the Dr Pen A6 . I am needling at 0.5 going up to 1mm in some areas. I never get any pinprick bleeding and am starting to wonder are the needles sharp enough? My face goes red but no bleeding

I just scheduled three micro needling sessions at my dermatologist for over the next few months. Then I found your channel and I'm wondering if I bought the Dr. Pen and began my own protocol if that would be as good. Would love your input. Is it better to do these three and then begin my own regimen? Or just as good to do it on my own and save money doing it myself? Loving all of your content. Super helpful and loaded with info and recommendations for products, which I love!

Excellent video! Really hoping to see your updated micro needling protocol. With this emerging research coming out about the efficacy of more shallow depths being just as effective as deeper ones, would you also consider the 36 pin cartridge just as effective on the face now instead of the 16? pin.

Very interested in trying this for a sagging jawline. I, like yourself, have made a commitment to finish up product before I buy anything new. Could you please advise on bare minimum what I would need to use to move forward with micro needling (serum, lotions). I more than likely have what I need but am quite nervous about using something that affects my delicate skin in a negative way. Thank you so much for your willingness to share your knowledge. Stella

Have you ever heard of Gin Amber Beauty? Last year I ordered a 0.5 dermaroller and serum from her shop and I've had great results with it. She also has a youtube channel where she shares tips about needling and lifestyle. Her rollers cost a bit more, $25 I think but they are effective with titanium individual needles. If you go with a dermaroller make sure you get a roller that has individual needles and not the disks with fake needles. Most people use HA serum after treatment but I've found that copper peptides work incredibly well for firming the skin post treatment. It takes time but it really does work. Edit Here are the basics of it and what you need to start ; 1- Alcohol to disinfect your roller and also any skin that you will be treating as this prevents infection and sterilizes the needles. 2 - A gentle serum with natural ingredients like hyaluronic acid. Avoid fragranced skincare products and most actives after dermarolling. 3- Choose a dermaroller that has individual needles instead of metal wheels as these are not good for the skin. Starting out you may want to get 0.2 or 0.25 just to make sure your skin can tolerate microneedle treatments. 3- Sunscreen. You definitely want to avoid the sun the day after. I really like elta Md physical tinted post procedure sunscreen spf 41+ Hope this is helpful and best of luck to you!

I used to microneedle. I stopped. I use a professional LEd/near infrared panel, Ellanse and nightly Retin A. I’m 56 and have fewer wrinkles than when I was 46. I just found microneedling was terrible for my skin in winter - disrupted my skin and caused irritation for days on end.

After use I soak in hot water with dish soap to break up oils and dead skin . Then I spray roller with alcohol then I super clean my roller with a steamer. I have a hand held steamer that most use to steam bathroom shower doors etc... I Use the steamer with nozzle and it's almost like using an Autoclave Sterilizer . I do this before and after. I of course wipe face with alcohol too. .

Amazing, truthful video!!! Love it!!! Less is more... always! Did you say something about cold sores and microneedling??? What did you mean?
@PENNSMITHSKINCARE3 жыл бұрын
If you get cold sores you should either: Not needle or Take an antiviral before you do and understand the risk 💜
@PENNSMITHSKINCARE3 жыл бұрын
And of course if you have an active cold sore you should not needle.

Thank you!!! If I don’t have an active cold sore... just take an antiviral before MMN or CMN? What about NN?

What is the ideal frequency for cosmetic micro-needling? Twice a week? Three times? It seems that once a week might be too little for somebody who needs a lot of help in the skin department. I am also confused about the use of red LED therapy. Sometimes, I hear it should be done prior to micro-needling (as in one protocol), sometimes I hear after (as in some videos). I have a wand which would probably be difficult to disinfect perfectly well. I would tend to use it on my whole face and neck before the micro-needling, then wash my face well, and then micro-roll (I don't have a pen). BTW, my derma-roller has red light and microcurrent (the needles are 0.3), but I can't see that having a great impact on the skin given the short duration of the treatment..

I’ve got Dr Setterfield’s book . He mentions needle diameter . Nobody talks about diameter . I feel most comfortable with the smallest diameter. But many companies don’t list that info . Which roller do you recommend that has the smallest diameter needles ? Or a stamp with lower diameter needles ? He says .07 mm diameter gives good results and over .25 mm diameter can cause scarring . I want to be safe and have the skinniest needles possible on a roller and stamp . And I’d like .25mm length and .5 mm depth . Thank you so much. ❤️🤗😊

I started using a 2.5 mm roller 2 weeks ago. I’m using growth factor, hylauronic acid, and a peptide after needling. I feel comfortable with this routine and may purchased a pen in a few weeks. One reason I don’t like to go deeper is because my skin gets so dry after deeper depths and there’s only so much I can put on my skin for the dryness. I need to watch your last video again for your pen suggestion (A7?) as well. Thank you Penny!

Thanks for this video and I just subscribed. Recently had a nurse do my 1st RF microneedling. I'm 71 year old so I haven't seen any results yet which I hear I normal - have to wait 4 weeks for the next treatment. But I've got some lines around my mouth and above my lips. She only went .9mm and I thought (incorrectly) that deeper might have been better. So I'm wondering, if I do more research and follow all the recommendations and do it myself, do you think over time these lines will fade? Or is this something that you need to start before the lines appear - avoiding them in the first place?
