Hi! Great video! I’m a seasoned PT who has taught in PTA programs. I’m back on a clinical setting now. I find that there is absolutely that where you go to PT school makes NO difference on your PT job opportunities ! Go to the most affordable program and free yourself from a life-long of paying loans!!! The entry-level salary is the same for licensed PT, regardless of which school you attend

Glad you are putting this info out there for future PT students. Finances are not talked about well in our profession, especially for prospective students. As someone who is working on paying off 113k from my DPT I wish I had more info like this at the time!

@Tim Fraticelli, I'm in the military and currently working on my bachelors through AMU (an online bachelors degree). My question is do Physical Therapy schools accept on-line degrees?

They should as long as it’s accredited.

@PTProgress

Hey Alex! I don’t have any issues with either types of clinic. Starting a cash based PT clinic is possible but there’s nothing wrong with working in an insurance based practice too.

"How" they teach you is almost as important as "what" they teach. If they teach you from the assumption that you are stupid, this will have an effect on how good of a physical therapist you will be. You may see your clients as if they are stupid, lazy, sinners, etc.

Are notes/paperwork as constant in a cash based practice?
@PTProgress
@PTProgress 3 жыл бұрын
Documentation is still a part of a cash based practice and useful beyond justifying treatment to the insurance company. One difference is that a cash PT may have the ability to choose their documentation system (vs an employee at a clinic forced to use the company’s choice in EMR). The documentation in a cash practice is still a vital part of your practice, specifically for tracking progress, coordination of care, follow up with physicians, legal justification, etc.

Thank you so much for your videos! You helped me decide realistically between a few schools and I'm happy to start this summer at a program that is 66k over 3 years. You were the only person I heard from that really stressed taking into account the actual cost of the school not just the type of program or location and I am appreciative of that. Do you have any further advice on navigating different types of loans or what to be aware of? Thanks again and hope to keep seeing more from you!

Hey Tim, Currently a PT student in the army reserves and beginning a blog as a PT student to decrease living expenses. I’m hoping to connect PT students with scholarships and guide PT students also in reserve components of the military as this is an increasing career method to pay for school I have begun seeing along with chiropractor school and serving simultaneously. Serious question, does being in the Army reserves pay for your PT school tuition?
@austinslone9016
@austinslone9016 3 жыл бұрын
@@aidan9656 no, it is based on G.I. Bill benefits. This includes time in grade/service and active service vs reserve active service. National guard offers TA for students while the reserves offers loan repayment programs/Montgomery G.I bill benefits. These are all applied for, not given. I am continuing to apply for scholarships due to this and plan to pay for fall/spring as it is a fiscal year renewal basis unless I am able to find different information however summer semester is paid for.

@@aidan9656 another item to look into is the HPSP program. This year it was not offered for physical therapy, however it may be offered in the future for active duty which I aim to move towards post graduation. The Army-Baylor program is the only guaranteed way in to active but highly competitive
