So many salient points! I, too, spend a great deal of hours/week commuting; it's mind-blowing! Thanks for the motivation to be intentional with the minutes we have each day!

Great and important video. Why only 600 views? My suspicion is that it is easier to make excuses rather than do the work of figuring out your time.(a bikini clickbait might help too) Also, creative work can be super fun and fulfilling AND at the same time, difficult and challenging. I think many of us (consciously or unconsciously) struggle with embracing the "grind" that *can* lead to wonderful and fulfilling results. (but doesn't always) Easier to watch TV.! It has been a while since I logged my time. If I'm not too lazy, I'll let you know what I find. :^)

Excellent video. I'm going to give it a whirl. Time squanderer & habitual procrastinator, so this may be on the order of an religious experience. I line your primary-secondary activity categorization approach. Going to add location (possibly log travel times for non-work/leisure categories).

Important note: Think carefully about how you categorize the activities in your time log. Try a few different ways of organizing the data before settling on a method. You don’t want your choice of categories to skew how you look at your time.

At first I had a category called ‘Family Time’, but quickly realized that I spent time with family while doing other things, such as eating meals. So I tried to organize by ‘what’ not ‘who’. If you wanted to get crazy, you could do two layers. A chart of you're doing, and a separate chart of who you're spending time with!

Since we can all do more than one thing at a time, I chose to categorize by my primary focus at the time. For instance, I often watch TV while eating dinner. If my primary focus was to eat, then I would categorize as “meals” because I probably wouldn’t have watched TV had I not sat down to eat. I guess the point is to look at your categorizations a few times to make sure you’re not skewing your data.

this is great, I'm going to monitor how I spend my time for 7 days and see what I can do to improve things.

hi, thought I'd report back, it was very disturbing how much time I waste watching TV, and also on the internet, and in reality how little work I do, but that has changed since then, I am now being creative a lot more often, it was very insightful.

I'm so lazy! I want to do awesome things: to improve mu musical skills, to get in better physical shape, to do all kinds of pleasant, exciting and important stuff. But I'm sooo lazy it's even hard for me to even start to do a time log like that. I understand my problems but still continue to WASTE my time. I hope I'm not hopeless (tat sounds funny)
