🇬🇧 I would imagine you don't understand the 'concept' of the whole process. Most people who don't understand it say exactly that. If you did, you would understand why it is important. Many of the tax rises don’t affect “working people”. The national insurance rise is paid by employers not the workers, most ordinary people don’t pay capital gains tax or inheritance tax.

Maybe not directly, but the tax rises certainly affect "working people" indirectly as the employers find ways to absorb the costs. Businesses will have to either put the prices of goods/services up, hire fewer staff, lay off staff, or give lower wage rises due to less money in the pot. This level of tax always leads to stagnation.
