If ten people take a test, and the results are 100, 95, 95, 90, 90, 85, 80, 80, 80, and 0 then nine of those people can accurately say they score above average (which is 79.5). Likewise, since it's safe to assume there are more people in the world with one or no arms then there are 3 armed people, it would be accurate for any 2 armed person to claim they have an above average number of arms. People are just scared of intelligence it’s the fact that you have enough braincells to deliberately skirt around hurting peoples feelings that either scares people or makes them think your passive aggressive. Somone of different intelligence can never understand what ur thinking if ur smarter than them, yet you can understand them and it makes them feel like your mentally stalking them. For example people are scared to talk to me because from their view I’m just gonna correct every single little invisible mistake they make. From their view I’m thinking on a 4th dimension. Once ur smart enough you can basically mind read and it scares people. If I hear somebody cough rashly then get up and head for the fridge I know they’re getting a drink. When somone is following me and I see them in the rear view mirror of a parked car in front of me and I turn around, it scares them. I am not better than anyone else nor am I that much smarter than anybody else. I just think about the results of actions instead of just the actions themselves and it scares people. A proactively reactive thinking style is utterly horrifying.

These persons live in a one dimensional world. The intelligent person I call this a AWARE PERSON has the ability to look at the same subjects from different sides- exhamain it, question it and because this person can see more than one side -- come to realise that it is possible there is more to this subject what she/ he has seen so far has found out about and that is the reason for doubt.

Even a "dumb" person could know everything about something. Like Johnny B. Goode, who never ever learned to read or write so well, but he could play the guitar just like ringing a bell. Or the local farmhand who's mind never wanders too far from cheap vodka and sausage, but damn he can take apart and rebuild a seized engine in a day. While totally wasted. And it works. I think what makes people really stupid is when they think they know everything about everything, and worse, are loud about it, and even much worse, try to make other people play by their rules.
@AdruA11 ай бұрын
@@TTFerdinandI actually say something similar from time to time, I usually end up being seen as a 'pretty clever guy' but I never agree on that. It's true, I can be smart with numbers, remembering a lot of stuff, thinking, grammar, most stuff relating to my job (construction/electrician) or problem solving. But it's equally true that I'm dumb at reading people, I know literally nothing regarding cars... Motorcycles, airplanes... Anything with transport really, I'm dumb at programming, easily forget 3/4th of what I need to get from a shop in less than 3 minutes, and daaamn I can be ignorant or lazy even if I certainly need to 'get my ass up'. Am I 'intelligent' for knowing the exact prices of whatever take-away we get this evening? What if I tell you that I can... But ask me what color the car in front of me had for 10 mins & I assure you I can't answer that, so am I 'stupid' because of that? I tend to say people have smarts and dumbs together, intelligent people might just 'use' their smarts more to their advantage making them look smarter
@JathraDH11 ай бұрын
@@TTFerdinand I mean no, and no. It's impossible to actually learn everything about anything. When you use the term "everything" that means literally every possible thing there is to know about the object by definition. Does the farm hand know everything the engineers knew about all the finite details of how that engine functions? Absolutely not. So how can he know everything about that engine? Even if you limit the scope to "everything about repairs of that engine" there are circumstances which the farm hand would deem the engine "beyond repair" and someone else would probably say otherwise. But, smart vs dumb isn't about specific knowledge. It is more about (as the OP stated) how open you are to realize you don't know anything about anything.. If the farm hand knows the engine and thinks that since that's all he needs to know that he knows everything, than he is certainly dumb as hell. His brain isn't even capable of reaching out and asking "Is there more?"

There's a lot of information on this and other cognitive biases in Wikipedia if you want to check them out. On the other hand, if you're asking if I personally can provide scientific evidence, I only have my personal experiences and as they are not taking place in a controlled environment with measurable and quantifiable results, they cannot be considered evidence. However, they mostly do conside with the scientific theories, so I tend to trust them- when they don't, I just dig deeper.

And hoping to learn something new. Jordan Peterson said something that really made me look at disagreements differently: assumed the person you’re talking to knows more than you do. Doing that has allowed me to stop arguing and simply start trying to learn. Unfortunately doing this has made me realize how people really argue a point of view they know nothing about. Most of the time it’s not even their opinion, but an opinion that has been implanted there by someone else. Doing this also forced me to research deeply into my own opinions. And this research lead me to realize that the majority of what we read and hear is basically someone else’s interpretation of data. So now if I’m going to talk about something or even have an opinion on it I will study the hell out of it and never just listen to someone else’s interpretation of it.

That the whole tree is severely unbalance, to the point where it couldn't even survive a minor lightning strike. Knowledge isn't the only form of intelligence. There is probably no greater intellect than morality, and the understanding of right and wrong. This is the first branch the tree had to grow before making any other branches possible. For example. When greed and deception are what truly plagues our economic system, even the most under-educated "honest people" could offer up more economic solutions than a person with a doctorate in economics. Lets face it why should we promote the value of an education even WAY PAST the point to where educated people are a really bad value? Think about this, what's an essential element to maintaining a higher credit score outside of having money to pay bills? To think about yourself? Of course it is, as a study would prove that generosity would be damaging to your personal financial profile. People who maintain growth in their bank accounts and monitor their credit scores to achieve the highest score they possibly can will most usually be bad at relationships. This is a design flaw that no college is going to teach you, because colleges need the economical system to work in their favor. There are ways to overcome all of these problems , and it's really a quite simple understanding which would in the end benefit everyone. What if the whole world changed so that nothing is mine, and everything is ours? Even the wealthiest man alive would have more than he has now, and everyone as much as he does. The USA has a large upper class, and currently we are building more mansions than we build low income housing. However, imagine a design where EVERYTHING was upper class. All things that the public uses were built to higher quality so that every time you step outside your home, everything that wealthy people have invested into their own private homes are now a part of all of them, AND all of us... Even your modest personal space would be extravagant, but it just won't be 4 stories that you can keep alll to yourself. Imagine if we shared items more... There's enough Kayaks in the USA that if we sent ALL of the kayaks to every body of water for people to use, there'd be enough left over for centuries to come. You wouldn't even need a vehicle to transport a Kayak to the lake, when you get to the lake there'd be one there. The point is, there are ways that we could ALL live better, but whats really stopping it from happening? Greed, envy, jealousy, pride, conceit, prejudice, and many other words which describe our balance with the golden rule. The real kicker though, is that being successful at any of the words just described, is going to bring you even remotely close to the happiest you could possibly be. I see successful people all the time pretending to be happy just to hurt their enemies. Why then, would anyone want to have enemies?

@@18wheelerzdavid Intelligence has many forms. You imply that people who posses a great deal of knowledge are intelligent, but this isnt always true. Take a doctor for example. Yes he may post his achievements on the wall for all to see... which is actually required of them in some places. This just means the person has studied one subject very intently. It does not mean the person is knowledgeable or even intelligent. I know many doctors for example who cant seem to properly diagnose even very obvious conditions. After all people who think they already know all that there is to learn in any given subject will never strive to learn more and typically indicates they have reached the peak of their intelligence in the subject. My intelligence is that of observation and problem solving. This helps alot in dealing with my fellow humans. As an introvert to most I appear like an extrovert.. to those close to me they know when I am appearing to be extroverted I am actually acting in self defense. Also having a vast memory helps... tis a blessing and a curse. I also know quite alot about a variety of subjects. Though there are few skills I would say I have truly mastered but can perform a great deal of tasks with an above average level of quality and skill. Lastly grammar isnt one of my strong suit atleast not when it comes to writing ;) But when I am speaking to another of a higher intellect my words flow more smoothly because I do not have to moderate my speech or filter my words. I used more commonly known words so I dont get asked to repeat myself hundreds of times. Or what does that mean over and over... To me these arent even large words nor complex they just tend to be uncommonly used words. But they usually convey what I want to say more precisely... so in my being precise it becomes less clear to others.... >.< I am usually just a goof with a nack for subtle sarcasm ;)

A good sign of your intelligence and Intellectual honesty is changing your position on a subject that you were arguing against. If you set out to disprove something, and in the course of researching the subject you realize that you were wrong and they were right, and you therefore change your position and acknowledge it to the one with whom you were debating, then you are more likely to be intelligent and are honest enough to change your mind. No one should change their mind without this process. If you change every time you lose an argument without working to learn the truth through further study and thought, you might be an idiot who is easily swayed by others.

I love learning new things. I love debating stuff with people, even stupid people, because I'm very clear that I'm not attached to my argument. I will side with whatever can actively prove they are legit. If you can refute my claims and views, more likely than not I'd be very interested and thankful and say I'd probably be looking further into it, since ya know, one source isn't enough per se, but still. So when someone can't refute me or prove their claims, I am stuck saying, I'd love to believe you but I have these to literally disprove everything you've pulled out your butt. Not like to be hostile, but like, it sometimes makes people think a little about shit, or they just don't believe me. The latter tends to be the people who are more, er, well, foolish. I'm not smart, I just like learning and learning new things. So I very much feel the same way, I like sharing information and hearing new information. I have a friend who built a jet engine models from a 3d printer and, similar to me, is fairly young, and I was heckin' impressed! I got to learn a lot about aerodynamics and although it still feels confusing, it was really fascinating to hear about. I also love friends who are as philisophical as me because we can share views and discuss them more civilly than I find most other subjects to be. Most subjects can stay civil with a low chance of getting defensive or argumentative, whereas philosophy, for me, has stayed pretty good at remaining a chill topic. Basically, I'm the same and it's so cool to learn from people who might know more about certain subjects than yourself.
