You are speaking real talk. Somewhere along the way I think as brown ladies we have felt like we have to change up on our hairstyles. You are right that many cultures wear their same style for long times. Whether you know it or not, I think you just freed a few folks😘

Thanks for your invaluable advice. I like boring. I've rocked many hair styles at my age. These days, I chunky twists and tuck away. Re-moisturizing and take down is a breeze. My biggest decision is how I want to part my hair. Staying on top of my moisture makes my hair very manageable. You taught this older lady some great tricks.

New subscriber here, please to meet you! I locked for a year and it was very liberating. However, I got bored with that so I took them out last week. The take down took a week! Which started me BACK to watching hair vids and how I found you! So I guess my new journey is about to be a “twisted natural” too! 😅 I watched A LOT of your videos and I love them all, but can you please stop 🛑 defending/addressing a boring twisted natural. Who’s saying it’s boring? At least You have options. Being loc’ed didn’t provide many options. And the hair is super heavy when it’s wet which is tension on the hairline which is why I took them out, nobody speaks on that. PLEASE Don’t defend it anymore! Whoever is calling this boring need to try locs lol. 😆 Blessings ❤

Forget about those people sis,it boring for them but for us it’s good. I put my hair in braids through the whole year and put my mini braids in four con rolls even if am going to parties celebrating my hair is like that and I love it. Thank you

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been wearing my hair in twists for nearly 10 years. I love the ease…just get up and go about my business except for wash day.

Ive been keeping my hair predominantly in twists for years now, and have gotten a lot more growth as a result, even with especially poor maintenance. Ive been considering switching to a diffeeent style to try to ease maintenence and be more consistent with maintenance as I'm preparing to welcome baby #4 and another big international move. But i really love the look of mini twists, so your recent videos have really been making me reconsider. Thank you so much for at least showing me another path to maintain my hair in my limited free time and in the style i love ❤

totally relate to this. am a new mum and there is simply no time for hair! No problem in keeping the same style if it’s working 😘

I love to see twisted styles. I have to add hair so it can last longer. But what I don't like about twist is the taking out process. You have to be really gentle on your hair. I love to see long natural hair if you have locs you don't enjoy your longgggg natural thick hair. I love the challenge of growing 4c hair.

yeah any takedown is delicate I think. locs would drive my hands itchy to feel my loose hair 😜

Thanks for this informative video. Your hair is so stunningly beautiful! I relate to your saying that your hair at some point was overwhelming. Yes. When I got out of the military many years ago, life was so very busy, and my hair was just another thing that took up so much time, and just overwhelmed me. So that is when I started the TWA. I did it myself, and you could call it bald. I cut it approximately every two months, and it was manageable for my lifestyle, and grew very fast. Fast forward to now (53 years later), do you have any thoughts on hair growth/management for those of us in our senior years? I noticed that my hair at my age is much softer. In the nape it is almost straight. I seem to have different textures all over my head. My edges are receding, and I wonder if that is age-related or what. In any event, I am following what you are suggesting with lots of moisture and tender care. I don't know how long I will be on earth, but I know I don't have unlimited time. Thanks again, Lovely Sister, for your advice. I'll keep you posted.

4 platts and tucked ends is my go to and wearing wigs. Been there and done that with the changing of hairstyles and don't want to do it again. As the scriptures says we need to "mind your own business"-1 Thes 4:11-and that includes how one decides what's best for taking care of one's own hair. Thanks for sharing. 😀 Btw using the pad of the thumb as you move from the base to the ends of the hair helps with detangling.😀

I love wearing mini twists. I love how much my hair has grown and it feels thicker and I've gained alot of volume too. Kindly touch on post partum hair shedding and if at all you've experienced it and tips for Mums currently going through it. I'm currently on baby #2 and I was predominantly in protective styles particularly mini twists but now I think I'm experiencing hair loss/hair shedding and I'm panicking 😢
@CoilyDiaries10 ай бұрын
hey sis. am so sorry to hear this. I went through this, this very year. I know it’s scary but postpartum shedding resolves itself by the time your baby is 1. I have done a video on this with some tips but base line is to be patient it will resolve. I lost my edges when it happened. if you think about it, during pregnancy, you barley lose any hair so rest assured you won’t go bald while going through postpartum shedding. I know everyone is different but hang in there. 😘🥰🩷

I have 3b hair so no style lasts in my hair. I would kill for 4 c hair. It’s literally the best hair type. Minit twists or braids look good in my hair for maybe 3-4 days

Try using locking gel when you do your twists. I use that and twisting butter and they hold pretty well. Also, you can try adding texture spray to your hair if the twists slip apart too easily.
@CoilyDiaries10 ай бұрын
@@esthertjones my thing with gels is remoisturising. I find it hard if there is a gel over the hair and don’t necessarily want to have more frequent washes. How do you manage this?
