Both brands are owned by the TCB Group wich is a German Brewery Group. TCB started by buying the Frankfurter Brauerei in Frankfurt. They than expanded by buying regional breweries from the big players. They bought Brasserie Champigneulles from Scottish&Newcastle in 2006. In 2011 they bought Feldschlosschen Dresden from Carlsberg and in 2016 they bought Gilde Hanover from ABInbev. They keep producing those beers for the regional markets and for ASDA apperently :D... They are also brewing the store brand beers for supermarkets in France and Germany.

Im realy curious about the french brewed Feldschlößchen. It was long time brewed in Braunschweig and in Dresden. They both tasted different because of different water and yeast. Now it's only brewed in Dresden, the brewery in Braunschweig was sold to Oettinger that produce the cheap brand 5.0 and supermarket brands like Schultenbräu (Aldi Nord), Falkenfelser (Netto) or Turmbräu (Penny) in that brewery now.

Asda are ripping you off where you are. They're both £1.10 at ours. The ß is pronounced a 'ss'. So it's like Feldschlosschen in essence, like in your title. Like with Straße (Strasse) for street. As for the French one, the 'g' is pronounced like a 'y'. So it's like Champiy-nuelle. Drop the s at the end, I believe. When I worked in the Nederlands they always tested me on pronouncing Scheveningen. I got close, but it's like a lot of newscasters can't pronounce Llandudno. I do agree with your analysis. The FeldSchosschen wins outright. I have lots in the garage now. And you can get 4 x 440 cans for £3.65. BARGAIN!
