The only thing I'd quibble with is the 'one of...' He was arguably the best. There's a still a lot of great comedy around today. But nothing is coming within a country mile of this.

I have been a fan for a very long time of this comedic genius!! I also want to share how to this day you can almost hear Ronnie's English style in a TFL underground system announcement made by someone in their staff. Sound of Ronnie on underground stations!!

Easy enough to do nowadays but back then that would have meant splicing together bits of film footage or video tape and working everything out with Ronnie Barker's perfect comic timing. I don't know if they were the first to do this (Monty Python/Gilliam ?) but Barker was well ahead of his time....

This was one time when the Ronnie Barker had to discuss writing this type of sketch with the BBC production team, as he could only work out this sketch if he knew what clips he can use to commentate over. So there had to be working together between the BBC film department and Ronnie Barker just to produce this 4 minute routine for one of their shows. Amazing.
