So, despite Jesus telling you, outright to help the poor and disenfranchised, these “christians” are inventing racist lies to justify vigilante violence against people of different skin colors while SCREECHING AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS that ANY aid to the poor or even fair wages is “cOmMuNiSm.” So, for some reason, I have a three time divorced, fornicating billionaire, holding the Bible upside down, convincing other Christians that Black people are eating pets and that a man wearing a dress is a threat to children, but daily mass shootings and ours rights being stripped isn’t. And then, all this happens and someone has the AUDACITY to pretend to innocently ask “what are Christians doing?”, so add to this nationalist theocracy this intentionally ignorant, ridiculous American evangelical martyr complex into it as well. @SleepyPotterFan3 күн бұрын
@@SHIBBYiPANDA I was raised Foursquare in New Mexico and the US being the New Jerusalem and key to Revelation was a big thing. This was especially true in the aftermath of September 11th. Just because your church didn’t utilize the rhetoric doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Revelation being highlighted specifically as a means of attacking immigration wasn’t a thing that I recall specifically, but that’s difficult to discern because Evangelicals ABSOLUTELY are the forefront of anti-immigration rhetoric involving demonizing them especially in the case of Islam. And Trump’s ban on Muslim specific countries is a hard, incontrovertible, recent proof of that. Islam and Muslims are absolutely assumed to be the enemies of Revelation by geopolitical realities of how and where Israel is and that plays into their perception of immigration and how it’s viewed. The eschatology obsessed evangelicals are also hearing the Christian nationalism movement that literally JUST took over our nation with one of the primary aims being forcibly relieving large groups of undesirables from the nation with prejudice and violence. So, unless this comment was a poor attempt at sarcasm, it’s a poor attempt at gaslighting.

@OldMotherLogo5 күн бұрын
Most people do not come into the U.S. for illegal and dangerous activities. Undocumented immigrants commit crimes at a rate much lower than American citizens or legal immigrants and for good reason - they don’t want to draw attention to themselves. Most are doing jobs American citizens don’t want. An estimated 60% of agricultural workers are undocumented migrants. Others work in construction and hotel. Trump’s properties have employed literally hundreds of undocumented migrants. His personal maid at Bedminster who made his bed and laundered and ironed his clothes was a Guatemalan woman who was undocumented, his golf courses employ groundskeepers who are undocumented, his hotels employed construction workers who were undocumented. His wife worked here illegally.

If that were the real reason, sure. But it's not. No one is yelling about building a wall between our country and Canada, though that border is much bigger and has far fewer people guarding it. Any semi-intelligent bad person would rather come through the northern border, it's way easier. Instead, we're inundated with horror stories of migrant caravans approaching the southern border, stuffed with middle eastern terrorists and drug dealers, that somehow never actually materializes. Most of the drugs coming into america are brought in by americans going to mexico and bringing it back. Then again, maybe mexico would like a wall, too, that way we can't flood their country with our unregulated guns, anymore.

Jii-Lin said the Puritans and other religious groups were some of the first to settle in America based on creating a New Jerusalem (paraphrasing). But I don't agree with that characterization. The Puritans, Separatists, Quakers, Lutherans, Presbyterians, and Anglicans were some of America's first settlers because King Henry VIII of England forced them to adopt his "Church of England's" religious practices. Each group interpreted the Bible differently and that's why these new denominations choose to come to America. Their first goal was "not" to create a New Jerusalem. Instead, these settlers were upset because the Church of England retained too many Catholic practices and they wanted to "purify" it further by removing elaborate rituals and focusing on a simpler form of worship. The King gave them that choice as he wanted to settle new colonies creating new markets for England's economy. Once here, it seems the many religious cults or denominations would like to start a new Jerusalem. But it wasn't the reason they came. It seems even more evident as NONE of our Christian religious groups come out and condemn Israel for their genocide of Palestinians. We are not upset with Israel killing 44,000 Palestinians over the last year, mostly women and children. I'd love to see Bart address Isreal's current evil.

She didn't say that, she said the symbolism was in their minds, and how could it not be? It's a new hope and an escape from what they would view as an evil oppressive world...hence the term 'a New World'. I have a major issue with people criticizing academia or labelling legitimate academic discussion as "propaganda". That's actually what fascist and authoritarian regimes do, try to delegitimize academia as having an agenda when every scholar has their own voice.
@susanmcdonald90883 күн бұрын
Ooh, I didnt hit the "like" button because it's at "666," and I sure dont want to mess with that, call me superstitious! Always great learning going on here, thank you. But I wonder, without its myths & metaphors, no culture survives! See that primitive "dragon" behind Megan' s head? In all of Academia, in all the dissertations, no one seems to understand the origins of the "dragon" archetypes! Not one scholar, who understands it, but many, many cultures worldwide & historically, treasured its motif, WHY? Like the grand Egyptians who stylized a Thoth-figure, bird-headed creatures carved worldwide, WHY? And the supremely beautiful Chinese conceptions of dragon-serpents, nevermind Eve, lol. But honestly, I don't know any historical society that didn't fear "the other" at some point, after all, what's that Great Wall of China doing there but keeping others out, while actually walling-in its citizens. So I really don't understand the U.S. specialty in this, as you state it. Seems human nature just works that way, but democracy is our best outlet, to prevent such things. And America has benefitted, on the whole, from such compelling metaphors. History MUST never be excused, but corrected. Paranoia as exhibited particularly here, is expected! It's actually the compelling force behind the greatest humanity has to offer. But unfortunately, academia particularly theology & history, have the origins of so much, ALL WRONG! But out of the West, comes original creations, PLASMA SCIENCE, in lieu with PLASMA DISCHARGES witnessed in primordial skies! There's your dragons & serpents & trees of life & bird-headed Thoths (etched in stone) on every habitable continent on earth, WHY! DIFFUSION does not explain this phenomena! So archeologists, anthropologists, historians & theologians, have led us to this: we CAN'T explain prehistoric motivations & ambitions, utterly failing in interpreting the ancients, at all! But out of the U.S., a stunning discovery that will revolutionize scholarship, if we don't loose our heads first, lol. But its a realization needed, forget alien "biologics" & narratives so popular today, scary popular, because once again, we relegate ALL things unexplainable, as religions, or aliens, BOTH invisble, well, despite ufo sightings themselves, this is the grand master "other-worldy" responsible party, lol. The cosmic message is missing from ALL our "modern" understandings, and must move forward into academia as fast as societies can "cope"! It ain't aliens coming out of places like Los Alamos Laboratories, where one man was commissioned to study worldwide PETROGLYPHS carved on stone, including the native americans, the maya, peruvian, & aztez, and aboriginal australians, to china, to japan, to the cave paintings in france & spain, ALL drawing the same stuff, WHY? EDEN with its 4 rivers and ATLANTIS with its complex channels, were IN THE SKIES. And mythologized, but also remembered, recorded, and interpreted, because we still have those metaphors, right before us, in all the earliest religions & traditions... "SYMBOLS OF AN ALIEN SKY", documentary on YT by The Thunderbolts Project. Only a democracy, such as we sorta' have, allows for such creative, free thinking to be expressed! New ideas; new concepts & visions. But the paranoid fear is very real. Can't be removed, because it's written on our genes, how catastrophic the solar system once was, but remains in our unconscious, as if it was yesterday. Thanks again! But i sincerely hope you give that documentary a good hard viewing. It will make our entire historical understanding, obsolete.
