Definitely gonna try that licking thing. I use my brave 7LE as my helmet cam and water droplets makes the footage unusable when it is raining.

I love Akaso! I have the Akaso EK7000 (I think) and I bought it for maybe like $60 or something ridiculous. Pretty decent for it is. I don't have it with me right now but I used it for some of my motorbike trip in Indonesia and was impressed, and that was before I had any clue about filming. Just the audio on the old one sucks but I can just use it for b-roll. Everyone raves about go-pro but akaso is a pretty decent alternative!

Great review, thanks. I need a battery powered cam with looping to use as a dash cam. Without going into a long explanation, a dedicated dashcam doesn't work for me. Can I mount this on a dash mount, and can it be powered from an external battery power pack? If any of the housings block the USB port, does the naked cam have a bottom mount screw?

One drawback personally for me is that the charging USB cable does NOT appear to be the means to download the footage to my PC. Seems a negative that I have to take the micro SD card out and use a micro SD USB reader.

I have the Akaso 6 (not the Plus) and it's a fine little camera for daytime purposes, but now we are coming into Autumn and Winter I fear that it won't be up to the job in low light levels. Driving down a tree lined road blotted out most of the light and it wasn't until the trees ended that it was possible to make out anything. Not sure if this is a general problem with action cameras. Otherwise I am happy with the camera and the accessories packs are incredible - plus they fit most GoPro cameras too!

@@LubuulwaChrisFitness Haven't used it much to be honest. As long as there is enough light it is definitely acceptable. Tried to use it in a car but it always focused on reflections on the windscreen so the view outside was blurry. I have to try dashcam mode to find out if that works better.
