I love 357 Sig. I’m getting 1600 FPS with 125gr Underwood out of my 5.45” M&P40 5” 357 Sig conversion. I absolutely am loving the setup. I’ve never owned a revolver but I should really change that because I mean, 357 Magnum right…

In the right 357magnum revolver, you can get 700ft lbs 800ft lbs and the most powerful I can make 900ft lbs

@@revolverroundup Definitely amazing. Currently I believe I’m getting just over 700 ft lbs of energy. But that’s with a quite large semiautomatic sporting a 5.45” barrel. Then again the OAL is probably still a tad less than a 5” revolver, so definitely manageable. I like the idea of 15rd magazines with faster reloading. Truthfully it’s overkill though… a revolver would be more reliable in my mind, not that I’ve ever had a reliability issue with my semiautomatic setup. Thinking I want a 5” but I have a lot of homework to do because I definitely want to buy once and cry once, lol.

@@revolverroundup yes I have, the box says 1475 fps for their 125gr loads but I’m thinking that must be out of a 4” barrel length. I’m get a tad over 1600 fps minimum. Seen as much as 1633 fps. Very impressive but we are talking 5.45” barrel length. As far as the 357 Magnum revolver, Spohr has my attention but man they demand a premium.

I have owned maybe a bit less than a dozen Charter Arms guns over the decades. What do I think of em? Well... every single one failed in some manner or another. the cylinder latch sheer off or the front sight doing the amazing disappearing front sight trick where it is there one sec but in the tall weeds next sec. Granted I probly shot em a lot. Soooo.... what do I carry now for the 'ultimate .357" I am also an iron sights guy... I kinda like em to stay attached to the gun tho and... I like em all to not only shoot point of aim but for every one of that model to shoot the same. that being said.... ALL J FRAMES SHOOT THE SAME no matter the model or the caliber (38 or .357) they are quality guns. with the Charter Arms I actually loved that the ejector rod was not shrouded. Why? cause when the latch sheers off (and it will) you can just grab the rod and pull it back to unlatch the cyl I have done this with Taurus also. And in fairness.... one Smith. a model 1917 made in 1918. I did not sheer it tho... someone else had and judging by the screw it was just grossly overtorqued. Back to the J frame tho. I give you... ta da... the 340PD. 12 ounce .357 J frame Smith. Scandium and titanium and SS or whatever... it works. Because I carry it and rarely shoot it? Wood 'secret service' grips. they are smaller. the 340 fits in my hip pocket and using the 'grippy' hip pocket holster NO ONE knows it is there. Easy to get out and a tad harder to reholster. I am good with that. it shoots POA easily at 15 yards for the first one to 5 shots... how many shots it shoots that way depend on your sensitivity to recoil. But... who cares? it shoots exactly like any other J frame so practice with an all steel one in 38 spl. duh? When the 340 first came out it got horrible reviews from every gun writer. because? it recoiled too much. Prices fell but only for a year or so. Now they are higher than ever. that is the one true disadvantage of the 340... the cost. I have been in 'tense' situations. an even a NG discharge or two (most will not admit the latter) the former was with a rabid fox and tons of rattlers. I not only did not feel recoil but I really did not hear the gun go off except for a muffled blast;. Those incidents were with 44 mag guns so I assume...... the same would apply with any gun. People interviewed after shootings confirm this. Sooooo my conclusion is... carry the beast but practice with a tamer little brother that shoots exactly the same... but your mileage may vary.
