I don't understand why the dubbing in english is so different from the Japanese one...it's frustrating knowing how many times Cloud asks about Tifa and the dubbing completely strays from the actual translation. english dubbing Cloud: "is everyone alright?" japanese dubbing: "is Tifa alright?" english dubbing Cloud: "hey!" japanese dubbing: "Tifa!" english dubbing Cloud: "where's everyone?" japanese dubbing: "where is Tifa and the others?" english dubbing Cloud: "what was that about?" japanese dubbing: "Tifa...are you ok?" (in chapter 12 where Cloud, Tifa and Aerith ask Wedge if he is hurt while Cloud is ready to help Avalenche stop Shinra from making the plate fall) english dubbing Cloud: "Wedge listen to me, stay here with them!" japanese dubbing Cloud: "Wedge listen to me, stay here with Tifa!" (we've been done dirty and the problem is that these are just the crumbs of the mess the localization made)

@@bikillni7072 you don't even know how much was lost in translation lmao What I said was only the very tip of the iceberg...you can ask me any Cloud and Tifa line, or even an Aerith line and I could tell you how they have been completely changed. Example, do you remember when Cloud sees Tifa on the carriage on the way to Don Corneo's mansion in Wall Market, and Aerith and him decide to go to save her? Aerith in English says "aren't you worried of what might happen in there? you have to help her" While in Japanese she says "大切な人でしょ？", which means "she's important to you isn't she?" and the "you/we have to help her" is the same. In japanese, 大切(taisetsu) means cheerished, beloved, precious, important. So Aerith was basically prompting Cloud to go save Tifa because she knows she's special for him and the English translation totally changed that.

Watching this again lol Train jump is where Tifa completely fell for Cloud and that’s when stoic Cloud started to fall deeply for Tifa. As the game went on after that, he fell more and more for her but I think the clinching moment was Tifa saved Cloud from falling off the rooftop towards the end and he cliched her arm so tightly with the camera focused solely on that....they are indeed in love and only a matter of time until they explode on a passion of love! Oh and the Hug....yeah another scene where Cloud fell deeper for Tifa!

This is it: the *definitive* Cloti compilation. You totally get Cloti and have caught all the subtle and not-so-subtle moments. This is a really lovely gift... I was so excited when I saw you had done your own compilation. Much like FF7R, this compilation was made with love, and it shows. I’m making my way through it slowly, like a fine wine, savoring its sweetness. Not to go on a tangent, but I do think that Part 1 suggests that Square is retiring the LTD - the amount of Cloti is unprecedented (as your comp shows), the AerTi friendship has been enhanced, Clerith has been diminished in quantity and quality, and then there’s Zack - all very deliberate choices on Square’s part. I hope they stay consistent and leave the LTD nonsense to us, the crazy fans. It’d be unfortunate if they undid what they started and kept up the unneeded drama in future installments. We shall see! (Had to get that off my chest... been seeing people argue otherwise and it’s been driving me mad. 🙄)

I don't know if the love triangle will be entirely gone in the next part, but it's definitely on it's way out the door, based on the points you made above. But, as you also mentioned, Square does tend to be inconsistent when there are sequels and prequels involved, so we'll see how this plays. After a line like "You can't fall in love with me," it'd be pretty crappy for Aerith to still flirt with him in attempt to make him fall in love with her. Like... make up your mind!! She seems more interested in Tifa than Cloud to me, though 😉

They were comparatively restrained in FF7R, (and as you said, going after Cloud after that “It’s not real.” speech would not be cute) but yeah, I shouldn’t get ahead of myself. Best to stay open to the possibilities. As for Aerith and Tifa... I can’t blame Aerith. Tifa actually offers her concern and attention while Cloud just walks off and leaves Tifa to it. 😂

I mean people have their opinions and preferred pair which is fine but don’t make it seems as though it is cannon when it’s not. I like to use the example of DekuxUraraka from BNHA vs BakugouxUraraka; the show clearly let’s us know that Deku and Uraraka are cannon but literally almost everyone wants Bakugou and Uraraka soooo much that it’s become toxic. Even with Bakugou and Kirishima, I mean COME ON, can two guys ever JUST be friends everyone ships them together and makes it seem as though it’s cannon when BNHA clearly shows us two male friends nothing more nothing less. There is “Bromance” but that’s just because they’re developing trust is all... how annoying🙄

the compilation is pro-cloti, but the subtitles not. Since I'm Italian, I've read the subs in my language and they a lot more faithful to the japanese convos. Cloud is so sweet to Tifa there and it's kinda wild how bland the english dubbing is, compared to the japanese one. I wish they wouldn't do this, it seems like it was done on purpose.

I use to watch my mom play the older versions of this game when i was younger. I was never a gamer but the graphics and the story telling were awesome. Im also a sucker for romance so that was the major incentive. Now that ive recently discovered the newer installments of the game here on You Tube it feels like meeting an old friend after a long time. The graphics are even better and once again it was the romance that pulled me in. Only this time the love triangle made me feel weird because it made Cloud seem indecisive. But now that i read a comment talking about the intentional changes in translation from japanese to english in regards to Cloud's dialog (how often he mentions Tifa), I can be at peace. My man Cloud does care for Aerith but his girl is and has always been Tifa.
