If it were me I would power up another melee lord with the chainsword. Sure another legendary lord if you confederate one, but making whoever is your second army lord a beast is better than giving skulltaker more power when he is already overpowered.

I would like to add that the chainsword is great if you want a lord to rip through a lot of enemies in melee, but sucks if they're supposed to be a lord/hero hunter like Skulltaker. I think that he'd do better overall with The Slayer Sword.

Hey Lionheart: 20:32 Just build that Outpost already to stack up points and keep your options open for another stack and who knows they may upgrade there Military budlings to have Shades (Greatswords) down the line.

For the time being, Skulltaker should have the chainsword for sure. If you confederate Arbaal at some point in the future (and he doesn't have a unique weapon) he can have it instead too if you wish.

Contest of Champions #9 "I never thought that I'd see this place again, and if it weren't the potential payout, I would have preferred not to," Aldubric quietly mutters as he stands atop Bretonnian soil and grass once more in the face of an undead army. Once more, Angar and Aldburic lead their forces into battle simultaneously as the race for power heats up. Concurrently, Skulltaker's assault on Hexoatl is but a few hours away. Along with khorngors, Angar has recruited two units of khornite chaos furies and an exalted hero of Khorne to his cause. The lizardmen may not be a threat yet, but there is no need to worry about a lack of combat as the skaven forces are back once more and stronger than ever. Warp-lightning cannons bombard the rapidly advancing tide of slaughter-hungry warriors as wolf rats (poison) clash with the chaos warhounds. Brood horrors charge headlong at the khorngors who charge headlong right back at them. The leadership of this army is not immediately clear to Angar, but he quickly realizes the presence of the same magic of the grey seer and a new type of skaven magic. As a tide of grave guard with greatswords marches towards his infantry's defensive formation, Aldubric's now exalted pink horrors fill the sky with pink flames as chaos furies and chaos warhounds (poison) move to the side of the upside down triangle made by the chaos warriors. Without any magical support, casualties are expected to be much higher. As his soldiers collide with the main skaven infantry line, Angar and his exalted hero of khorne stick together and find a small seam between the skaven soldiers near the center of the line. "I'll deal with one spell caster, you deal with the other," Angar shouts at the exalted hero as their axes chop shields and spears in two before spilling blood. The magic of the skaven has had little overall effect, but this is on top of the damage done by the warp lightning cannons and there is still plenty of time for the spells of the ratmen to inflict meaningful damage. "One of them has to be the leader of this army, and if they fall, then their soldiers will follow quickly! Do what you can to not damage their skulls, we may be able to put them to use." The frenzied chaos warriors push their way into the clanrats around the two elite fighters. Keeping the way behind them open and limits pressure on the flank of the duo. Forcing their way through, they break through the center and spot a grey seer and warlock engineer. The way back closes as clanrants move into the hole that the duo made as Angar leads the charge. He barrels into the grey seer as the exalted warlock fends off the exalted hero. Likewise, Aldudbric strikes down his third grave guard as he stands in formation with his soldiers with one intent. "Stand your ground. The undead rely on a contest of attrition, and we have won this contest before. The warhounds and furies should be coming in to strike their flanks any second now. Their pressure combined with our fierce resistance will shatter their numbers and swing this battle for us." "How do you know that, sir?" a chaos warrior to his left asks defiantly. "It looks to me as if you've walked us into our death!" "Nothing is guaranteed, but if you look up and either side of us, you'll see the chaos furies are now back in the air and that means that they've dealt with the dire wolves alongside the warhounds," Aldubric shoots back. "They know their orders, and what it means should they fail to execute them. They'll come and do as I predicted. Now focus on what is in front of you if you're that concerned about dying, soldier. These grave guards are the thing that will kill us sooner than anything else if this vampire lord keeps on resurrecting the foes we've already slain." The prediction of the undivided chaos lord holds true, and despite suffering clear casualties, the chaos warriors hold out along the angled sides of their triangle formation until the six supporting units arrive to strike the flanks. A wave of shock rushes through six of the nine units of grave guard, and in the disruption caused by their allies, the chaos warriors surge forward and into their enemy's formation to quickly finish them off and send this shock wave through the remaining three units and the undead lord. Atop their war horse, the vampire lord manages to escape as the rest of their army crumbles. With a smug smile, Aldubric looks to the chaos warrior who questioned him, "Like I said, our hammer and anvil tactics shattered the enemy. Now keep this in mind because we have more undead to return to the soil if we want to get paid." Across the world, Angar's own forces are finding success as the chaos lord himself takes yet another trophy from a grey seer. To his right, the exalted hero finishes the warlock engineer off not with axes but with his hands in order to preserve the skull. With a clean and careful strike, the engineer's skull is claimed as well. Trophies in hand, the duo turns back to the skaven infantry as the khorngors turn themselves inward towards the infantry fight and rush in to surround and slaughter the remaining clanrats. Concurrent with this, the chaos furies finish the artillery crews. Ensuring that this entire skaven force is wiped out proves somewhat easier than before with the additional numbers, but when the battle is over, there is yet more clear evidence of where this army is lacking. "The warhounds are at half strength," the exalted hero reports to Angar. "Khorngors took a beating against the monstrous things that they engaged. We have one clean skull out of all of said slain monsters and a couple of good skulls from the enemy hounds. Finally, we have what we took from the two leaders of this army." "Then it is a good thing that we're finally at the point where we can start recruiting some heavy cavalry," Angar remarks bitterly. Growling, he turns to the exalted hero, "It shouldn't be long before we can start phasing out the warhounds. Of more immediate importance, these trophies could allow us to access new boons now that I'm getting the hang of how to draw power from these trophies. I have to give Skulltaker credit, this is quite an effective method for improving an individual and an army's performance."

I say wait to do the quest battle until you're fully healed. Plus, you gain movement for your lords after every victory by the bloodhost and normal army victory in battle. So that main army will continue to gain movement with every battle you fight this turn.

I’d keep the chainsword on him till you get a second lord really strong then maybe swap over so you have 2 busted armies. Keep it for a while though

Khorne campaigns can be quick if you are good. But you also need to make sure to pop out a second army ASAP in the south. I am surprised that the Lizardmen down there have not done anything yet. As Khorne, you do not really want to let enemies build in their forces from what I have heard.

I also think that Skulltaker us meant to be a duelist and absolutely wrecks lords and heroes, but isn't necessarily getting lots of kills. So a hero that gets more kills on chaff would be better. Also if the cultist is a buffer, throw him on the shrine and in with your infantry so they have a leader supporting them. Your cavalry murderball is fine without him.

Skulltaker is best for sniping Lords so don't give him the Chainsword
