One of THE BEST videos!!! I love the simple breakdown of everything. As an EMT, part of our care is to educate patients and their families and I love doing that. When I explain to them on simple terms, most people are blown away and tell me why doesn’t my doctor explain this to me!! And then I also explain why and how health system works (not health CARE).

Tons of respect for Dr Lustig, who has been a trailblazer in the field. However I do think he overcooks the role of fiber a bit too much. Invariably people with severe gut issues (Crohns, ulcerative colitis etc) do much better on a low fiber or no fiber diet, which should pique our attention. Certainly those on keto, ketovore or carnivore don't miss the fiber also. Instead of worrying so much about feeding an expected 'normal' type of microbiome, how about just change the microbiome that you have, by eating a certain way? There's plenty of butyrate to be had in keto - carnivore devotees. And invariably those on low carb diets, once adapted, find that their bowels have never been better.

Yet another brilliant video from Dr.Robert Lustig. Ketogenic Diet response to Beta Cells that have been stored with lots of insulin for going low carb and Beta Cells waiting to secrete the same is something new from the usual videos of Dr.Robert Lustig. Hope there is an elaborate video on this topic of Unused Beta Cells and it's insulin. Does the unused Alpha Cells do the same with the release of Glucagon when we go on fasting if not starving? Please consider a detailed video on the topic of Ketogenic and Low Carbohydrate Diet and it's effect on the unused Beta Cells and it's insulin. Thank You Dr.Robert Lustig.

I would absolutely love to hear one on this topic. So many are going keto for a while and then moving to carnivore as their body permits. I have never seen such results from 99.9% of people be 500% so positive on their health. From cancer to pcos to depression to b/p to fibro to simple will to live. Not better. But 110% well of it all!! Try Dr Carlson, Dr Berry, @glucosegoddess with podcasts that are mind blowing. Started my non-verbal autistic daughter and son with CP and ADHD and within 3 days I seen positive results. Who knew??? Apparently all but me lol. Awesome Dr here with knowledge to back it all up and to understand!! Good Health to all!! ❤❤❤

One more thing to consider about Beta cell production of insulin is the beta cells do not store insulin on hand for release if you are eating low-carb to zero carb. The reason for this is efficiency. If you're fasted and you're insulin level is low after about 12 to 15 hours the insulin storage for the first release of insulin during a carb meal begins to break down. If you're not eating carbs this is the reason why that meal will show a longer duration of elevated glucose level because there isn't the insulin storage on hand and the beta cells have to go to work to start producing insulin. This is natural normal and is in alignment with the way our biology functions. If it's not used it's eliminated or reduce to minimum capacity.
