I love these plans. However I have a strange question: where in the heck do you find black melamine? Big box store carries white, so they referred me to local hardwood dealer. Nope. They recommended a place specializing in plywood. Who referred me back to big box store or a hardwood dealer! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.

Marc - thank you for this video and the awesome plans. I mostly finished this today - just need top install the top - and I'm very happy with the results. This was my first big "furniture" build (I've never built a drawer before), but I've been a finish carpenter for 10 years so I know the way around nice tools. So one problem I had: I set all the drawer slides exactly the same but there's one on the bottom left side that makes the drawer stick out by almost 1/8" proud of the trim. I can't figure out what's wrong - and hints on where to look? I really don't care much since it's shop furniture - but the next piece is a wine credenza for a very picky "client" - my wife. 🙂

Ordered a Harvey TS and ran across your video while searching for ideas for an out feed/assembly table. As usual, very well done. Simple and elegant. Since my shop floor (3-carr garage) slants to the front, I need to be able to keep the table level. I also like the idea of being able to replace the top if needed, but at my age the table will out live me.
@georgekasten51842 жыл бұрын
I've got a new Harvey table saw too -- built this table to work with my new saw. I used cabinet grade maple ply for the sides and drawer fronts, and red oak for the trim around the top and drawer fronts AND for an extension to the top that accepts dovetail clamps. (Don't have room for a separate quality work bench with vices in my half of a two-car garage. Cool fact: because the Harvey table saw is 31-1/2 (vice 27) inches deep, I do NOT have to cut any miter slots in the table --- the miter gage is 'thru the cut' as the miter bar reaches the outfeed table!!! So, as long as I don't build a huge crosscut sled with even longer miter bars, the table can remain slot-free. I've built quite a few shop cabinets on wheels, flip-top tool holders etc, mostly with 3/4 plywood and pocket-hole screws. They are fast, strong, and build quickly. Mark's plan is a bit more involved, but the result is worth the effort. I call it "Garage Furniture". Wish I could send photos, but don't yet know where to post them in a way that would connect to this thread. Thanks, Marc.

I've been building this and for the most part by the plans. Biggest exception is the fact my saw sits almost 2 full inches taller. So instead of modifying the height of the cabinet I decided to add to the height of the top and build a small torsion box. Its actually working out to plan so I'm waiting on the "oh sh*t" moment. There are a few other things on this I think I would change but all in all I think its an outstanding plan and you have done an outstanding job of helping to push me to do things that were not in my normal safe box. Thank you Dan

Couple of questions, Marc: 1) What would you do if things weren't square after you'd already glued, brad nailed and clamped to hold everything in place? (Bring out the mallet for some tappy-tappy-time?) 2) how "square" is square for a project like this?
@woodwhisperer4 жыл бұрын
Well if it's already done and you can't re-do it, you make it work. Some things NEED to be square and some don't. So if it's just a compartment with a door, you can cut the door to match the opening and no one will be the wiser. But if we're talking about a drawer opening, it can be a serious headache doing an install in an out of square opening. But in the end your false front can usually be cut to hide the flaws.

More glue surface, sure, but more importantly it allows the stringers to act as index points, locking the dividers into place. Without them, you'd have to be pretty careful about where those dividers end up and in all likelihood they would slip. The notches make sure they're perfect.
