Thank you Jenny. After my son was killed in Nov of 2012 and after I could breath again, I wanted to do something special for the grandkids and his wife. I googled how to make a quilt, and there was Jenny's beautiful smiling face. After watching you for several days, (non stop) I thought "I can do this." You make it look so easy. As I found out, it isn't that easy. Well, I made 3 quilts in 12 months. Oh, did I tell you I didn't even own a sewing machine? Yep, my hubby took me down and bought me one, even tho I can't sew diddly. Well, now my 2 daughters, 2 sisters and the other 2 grandkids want one. What have I done? Jenny, you have been a HUGE part in my healing as well as the rest of his family, as they have his pictures on a quilt. I just wanted you to know what Missouri Star and your posts have done for us. Thank you dear lady. Thank you Missouri Star.

I’ve made my grandchildren quilts as well. Thank goodness we have these tutorials to guide us. Jenny has come to my rescue as well with finishing the binding. It’s a beautiful thing when it works …and mine did . Enjoy quilting,👍🏻

I hope and pray women like this will always exist. I just love the homelyness of the entire process. It takes quite a bit of intelligence to get all the fine points of quilt making or just sewing. My mom was self taught. She couldn't read or write, but she made quilts and simple clothes, curtains, pillowcases, etc. She looked at a picture and made her own patterns. At 65 I'm starting on my first quilt and will make one for each of my 3 grandkids with God's will and favor.

I have come back to this video often to help me with my binding. I find it so helpful. Two tips I’ve found helpful in my beginner's binding journey . . . Experiment with different size widths to find the one that works best for you. Mine is three inch for most things. Second, I machine sew both sides of my binding and going very slow helps me sew a better binding. When I first started, I went too fast for my skill level. I don’t have the eyes to hand sew and I don’t like how long it takes on even lap size quilts. So, I machine sew.

I watched a clip by someone else who showed leaving the batting wider than the quilt top when trimming. First, I love you, Jenny!!! Went to one of your seminars in Greensboro, NC this past August and was thrilled to meet you in person. You light up the room with your smile and personality. Ok - I revisit this tutorial every time I have to sew a binding on one of my quilts, because I just don't get it. After reading a lot of the comments here, I am soooooooo glad that I'm not the only one who has a mental block about how to do this. I also start and stop the tutorial many times, rip out the seam A LOT, and then the light goes on and I get it! Biggest problem is how to turn the fabric, join and not twist it. I'll get it one of these days,. Thanks, Jenny, for all of your tutorials. I've watched so many and have learned so much.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial and learned so much! I was nervous about putting the binding on my first quilt, so I made a small "practice" quilt and sewed a binding on. Thank you so much, Jenny and MSQ! I'll be back for more.

I love your tutorials! I'm mostly adding this for my own reference because this is the only part that gives me trouble. Take the right side piece (bottom) of binding, unfold it, turn it toward you and lay it with the Right side up. Take the left side piece, open it, turn it away from you. Lay it on top of the bottom binding with the Wrong side up. Cross the two pieces as you do when joining strips for binding. Leave just a bit hanging over each side so you can tell where they join. Sew across the point.

Hi Jenny, just a a wee comment to thank you. I am quilting newbie after leaving work due to illness and was finding it hard to pass the time. I needed to do something while sitting as I cannot walk very well. I found you channel and thank the good Lord I did. You have been a Godsend and I have learned so much from you. I hope to maybe get as good as you. So many hugs from Ireland.

LOVE this...now to finish my current quilt. I also noticed your Wedding Ring Quilt and I just finished mine after having it in storage for over 20 years!! And, I also used red binding like yours. The binding was an issue on that quilt but I made it through. Now I have a log cabin lap quilt to finish and it will be finished by following your very EASY instructions. Thank you so much!

Great tutorial, Jenny [thanks!]....here's a tip I picked up: if you don't have a little ruler close by, you can use the scrap of binding you cut off. Just turn it width-wise and lay it on top of the other end. Then you have a 'template' for where to cut the long side.

Thank you so very much for this tutorial. I had to unpick the last part of the binding 3 times - but by golly I got it done after watching that last part of the tutorial 4 times. THANKS so much Jenny Doan! And Missouri Start Quilt Company.

OMG, that was amazing!!!! I am with you all the way, I will be able to bind my quilt without any crying and stomping my feet. lol, not quite that bad. My sister told if I needed to learn anything this was the place to learn from, of course she was correct. She is a master sewing teacher. Thank you for all the great advice. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

I've bound my first three quilts with a machine and have not been able to figure out how to do it by hand through the books I have so this tutorial made it so much easier for me so that I can hand bind since my next two quilts I've nearly completed are for other people! Thanks. I love Jenny Doan's giggly personality too. She definitely wasn't boring! :)

So, last year I listened to a "Without Fail" podcast that featured the Missouri Star Quilt Company. What a joy to search for binding tips and find one of your videos. I hope your business continues to thrive.
