i love wortox, specially when playing in a random server, being able to help people around without having to eat their food, and healing is great at keeping new people alive, he definitely used to feel a lot more "overpowered" but skill trees and updates has made it so everyone else get a world of utility and he is just...fine early on. he also needs unique crafts, anything at all he can build with souls, even a soul lantern or soul wormhole

I think his ‘winona syndrome’ and sanity penalties help keep him balanced. He can be tough to learn, but once you’ve set up the right conditions he’s very rewarding. Though I’ve gotta say his soul overflow is awful with late game hound waves, especially if you try to use traps. I hope his skilltree can either stop him from picking up too many, or increase how many he can hold

As a wortox main i have become a master bee keeper. Also something to note is that wortoxes exploration speed is hampered a lot by the need to collect souls first especially in the early game, so he isn't actually as much faster as it seems since he effectively needs prep time before he start exploration while other characters can just go. If you test a normal character vs a wortox in a race and make the wortox collect souls first the difference in exploration speed is actually not that noticeable.

I did do that some said walter was better or woodie but wortox is the most fun and it's really just based on rng but like wortox already has built in soul pockets with caves and hives they basically end up being the same but wortox usually has more loot from the exploring

I disagree. You need to fight stuff anyway as you explore. You are just getting more out of your kills as Wortox. As long as you are not going out of your way to farm souls and just doing it as you play normally, or just being super efficient, he's way way faster than any character early game.

Wortox skill tree should be amazing then. I made a concept of one delving into what I would like to see in wortox and I found it great to think outside the box in how I would want to manipulate and use his souls and making him a true soul weaver. But thats also kinda what sparked that creativity of him being an overall great character but having those down moments that should be in ways different!

I love wortox because he can survive without tapping into the teams resources as much. food and health can be covered just by his souls, and having low sanity all the time means that the team has a very consistent source of nightmare fuel.

Three major notes: 1. Wortox gets half efficiency from map teleport due to the Soul Echo not being factored into the distance. It is, however, instant. 2. Kiting with Souls is by far one of his greatest perks in combat. You save a lot of time by not having to run backwards to kite, and can get one or two more attacks off per attack period of a boss. In multiplayer, this is incredibly nice as you can keep the boss in place and effectively tank for your allies, with no cost to armor durability. This can be insanely cheesy in several scenarios, but Armored Bearger and Crystal Deerclops have a crippling weakness to it in specific. 3. Healing is one of his weakest abilities in combat and should only be relied upon for emergencies, or bosses who supply you with more Souls or you deliberately tank (such as Bee Queen.) Avoid healing yourself alone, as their value is only 20 HP compared to 36 HP when healing a friend as well. He is better off self-healing with Batbats and Jelly Beans in combat, and Spider Glands/Healing Salves out of it. This dynamic changes a bit when playing with a Wormwood or Woodie, but the former should be kiting usually regardless and the latter doesn't take too much healing to support.

Of course the beta changed all of this unless they fix the balancing on jars. Now you can just spam whatever you want, as much as you want, since Klei forgot what character they were designing and we went from a 20 Soul cap to, uhh, 600. Yeah...

the soul echo does get factored and its like 10 percent less efficient that can be coutnered by walking but none of that matters now :D

i just learned that wortox can tame catcoons by giving them sticks, tho it will try to kill you first, so expect to take some hits, it will also try to kill you as soon as it's loyalty ends, so you will have to be careful, i suspect this is a glitch, so it may not be possible in the future

When I play Wortox I focus on sanity foods, 3 cooked green caps/cactus gives 21 sanity allowing Wortox to eat 4 souls (100 hunger) for no sanity loss

I see Wortox as a worse Wanda that needs less preparation Wanda does Wortox's job better but it takes more than an entire season to be able to use it, while Wortox just starts with it I know she can't heal teammates (or even herself lmao), but she can resurrect anyone with no health penalty, at the cost of just a 4 minute cooldown Also Wanda's food penalty (no healing) is more bearable than Wortox's I think he needs an urgent buff with his skill tree, something that makes him stand out in combat, cuz other than healing he can't do anything special, even Wanda has her alarming clock

I don't play wortox basically at all but what about making bee mines for stockpiling or as a long journey snack? Also I don't think Winona syndrome is a bad thing. In magic the gathering there are cards that say things like "whenever you gain life..." And you get an effect from it. And plenty of those cards don't have a way to gain life off of them. Yes it's great and powerful when an effect and the cause are on the same card but it's also fun to build around certain cards and to devise a way to put the two together to gain the desired effect.

Bee mines are single inventory and saves 4 bees forever It could be interesting? you won't need to feed the bees to keep them from starving. but i think it just depends on what the player wants. A full stack of souls that you have to feed or 4 souls that you don't have to feed but still need to kill.

"Fastest explorer" sounds as though it assumes you have souls at all times, which is not realistic for earlygame. You cannot rightclick teleport to map the whole world without sinking a significant time into killing mobs you otherwise would not, which might not even be situationally available. In no universe is Wortox on foot exploring faster than a beefalo rider who does significantly less maintenance to be "fast". Other than that, 5:15 is factually incorrect. There is a tuning value in the game applied to Wortox map teleports to make them less efficient than what you can get out of rightclicking twice at max range diagonally, fully zoomed out. "WORTOX_MAPHOP_DISTANCE_SCALER = 0.9, -- Perfectly placed blink teleports on a linear path to every part on the map is not realistic." The part after the 0.9x is the devs' justification for nerfing map teleports vs two consecutive max rightclicks. Furthermore, the nerf was applied AFTER a hotfix during the Wickerbottom rework beta. Previously they were equal. "Wortox offers a lot of utility" is also exaggerating lol.

Like just in regular scouting gameplay wortox gets the souls he needs to explore. get like 6 for every cave entrance you come across constantly getting butterflies and also just the intentional farming of bees frogs ect. His soul collection grows in natural early game exploration. Wotox just has the same problem as walter His gameplay is slightly different and people think it's too much out of the way to achieve. And that's fine. But it really is nice to have maybe you need to try him again with a new eye. ;)

@@DVGMedia1 Those are simply not enough to rightclick the *entire* two maps clean. Good soul sources also barely exist in the caves. You're still sluggish on average when you account all the times you are not able to afford to hop. I think I get to be able to say this as someone who played him for thousands of hours; I don't need a "new eye", Wortox on foot isn't even comparable to Wortox on an untamed beefalo when it comes to exploring. Souls are also pretty much the best food source. Tying yourself down early on to make crockpots is quite worthless. A kitchen is best made after an early bee queen kill, or if already basing and wanting a kitchen. Three souls are equal to a stew and considerably less work than fetching a crock pot when you don't want to be tied down to one stop and would rather keep exploring.

Theres always new things to learn ;) . I have thousands of hours too. Those little pockets are just perfect for the surface map. Where as caves admittedly don't have many souls. But if you play well and plan the surface covers you with that very easily. If you really go into wortox and his power its really great for everything. Getting a grass and twig farm really makes him free. sanity from honey and infinite food / teleportation.

People say that Wortox is good for Fuelweaver, and I just want to say it here: HE IS NOT. It is incredibly annoying to kill the Woven Shadows, and keep getting sanity drops from all the souls, and then getting stunlocked by FW.
