I was blown away by Lick It Up!! KISS was truly revitalized with Vinnie and Eric! I would have preferred a production a bit more like Creatures!

right on. the first 7 to 10 albums of great hard rock and then 2 heavy metal albums dominated by exceptional songs. and i cant stand much past animalize antmore. but these 2 amazing

@@seangiuliani3825 Yes, agree completely. The only one I can listen to after LICK IT UP is the 1992 Revenge album (to which Vinny Vincent contributed).

@@CarlettoPuglia yeah for sure. i mean vinny is a great singer and clearly a great songwriter. gene said himself vinny sings better than me. i used to imagine the .....knife through butter, scream was vinny. i know it was gene but i reckon vocally he elevated them also. Just the viciousness of YOUNG AND WASTED CHORUS. I mean. Wow they are great albums. im wishing everyone peace so peace brother

@kissdiaries Agreed. I loved both. But I think Paul was right. The only thing that held Creatures back was the makeup. I probably would have been huge if they had decided to take off the makeup on that album.

"Creatures Of The Night" and "Lick It Up" are two of my top favorites too. They were two very heavy rocking and dark emotional sounding albums with great songs and performances. The 1970's KISS albums were always pure magic to me and they always will be, but out of the 1980's KISS, "Creatures Of The Night" and "Lick It Up" were just the wickedest. I actually loved "Animalize" too but that was after Vinnie left. I love all of KISS' albums. But you have to admit. "Creatures" and "Lick It Up" were just crushing powerhouse KISS. This is another great cartoon history by you guys. The way you cartooned Vinnie is hysterical. I wasn't too upset when KISS first took off the make up. They were compensating by making much heavier metal music. In the later 1980's things got kind of too commercial though I still bought and loved every album. But several years later, after Eric Carr passed on, I was so happy they returned to the make up look in 1996.

it's hard to believe it's been over 40 years since they took their makeup off and came out on MTV. i still prefer the band with makeup then without makeup i thought the non-makeup era was a step backward. but hey it turned out to be successful for the band and here they are today still preforming 40 years later.

I remember when I first saw the LIU Album Cover! Of course, I snatched it up pronto! Unbeknownst to most of us, Vinnie was wearing a wig. It actually looked pretty good! My first thought was that he looked a bit like Punky Meadows of Angel! The Album just blew my mind! This was clearly a new, re-energized KISS! My only complaint is that life could have been produced better; like the way COTN was. Also, that they brought in Rick Derringer to solo on Exciter. But I did like the way they engineered Vinmie's Solos, making them stronger and a bit louder!

Creatures (1982) failed because of the timing. If they waited less than a year later when Motley crue's shout at the devil (1983) was released it would have been a different ball game. The makeup with Motley crue kinda re-invented the "make up" thing again.. And you can say Twisted Sister than appeared (1984) etc. Creatures blows away any motley Crue or Twisted sister album. Kiss probably would have had another year or 2 with the makeup.
