This is a murder trial, I find it irrelevent whether who brings up his character assessement first, How could you have had a murder trial without some discussion of the accused's character? It couldn't have been avoided no matter which side brought it up or didn't bring it up. Let's speculate, as Steve Oney implies, Frank's character is never brought up in trial, it would have been one of the biggest jurisprudent bunglings of all time.
