I love this iteration of batman, when he almost broke character in front of dent, I really got a feel for how you could view him as a mirror to two face himself, masking his true thoughts under a indifferent, aristocratic performance. But every now and then his true thoughts bubble to the surface

A key difference between the BTAS Caped Crusader when comes to the villains is that the BTAS rogues act as dark reflection of Batman origin meanwhile Caped Crusader rogues represent Batman's fate, what will happen if he doesn't learn from his mistakes. The BTAS villains were usually portray as sympathetic figures, who were victim of tragedy like Batman, but choose to lash out on the world rather than trying to improve themselve and help others. Caped Crusader villains share similar flaws to Batman: They are all sturbbon, arrogant, don't care about the consequences of their actions and blindly belive they are right in their crusade (Catwoman, Harley and specially Two Face being the biggest exemples). What separates Batman from them is that Bruce actually grows through the season, showing compassion towards others like Nocturna and becomes open to allies like Gordon, Barbara, Montoya and specially Alfred. The villains, on other hand, refuse to change their ways and end up being punished by their own actions (ex: Catwoman loses her family fortune, Nocturna loses her brother and so on)

I loved it! The animated series we definitely needed. Yes it deviates from the “OG” lores but cm’on comics have so many alternate universe stories. This one is brilliant. Beautiful. Loved every second of it.

from what I've heard, the costumes Harley Quinn makes her victims wear are based on Jungean archetypes. She herself is also disguised as one, the jester I don't know much about psychology so I don't know if the arquetypes match at all or if it's just done for aesthetics

The reason for people not leaving Gotham might be same as the reason for people living near an Australian airport, affordability to move.

first person i see noticing the switchup with twoface. nice! that was the thing that made me realize that the feel of almost everything being just a bit off was intentional

This kind of dissociated and distant kind of Batman is the perfect kind of character to get a Robin. It's typically the entire reason given for WHY Batman needed Robin more than Robin needed Batman in anything post-crisis. Batman adopts Dick because he thinks that by bringing Dick into his mission and avenging his parents it'll put him at peace, because Batman recognises that the festering need for the justice of his parent's murder is what turned him into The Batman and he wants to save Dick from that same fate out of total understood empathy. The problem is that he doesn't totally understand. Dick is not the same person as Bruce. And Dick recognises that Bruce has gone through the same trauma as him and lost himself in it, and works to be there for him, which ultimately grounds Batman and brings back Bruce Wayne from anhilation. Robin turns Batman into a person again, I REALLY hope we see that in this series.

33:03 I think the reason she dresses like a harlequin in this show because the jesters role in medieval society to be able to mock people without consequence and she essentially mocks her victims with phycological torture or at least that’s how I interpreted it

This has more in common with the Harley Quinn show

The thing is Harley Quinn without the joker could be interesting if her appearance was more akin to a doctor or psychiatrist type villain. But no they had to do whole jester type look which does not even make any sense!!!!

Actually it does. In medieval times, Jester were figures who coul talk to kings, even insult them, which represents how Harley sees herself: a vigilante punishing rich people (kings) for abuse their money and status to opress others.

You do remember her costume was based off her name?

@tylerlong5112 If anything it makes even more sense here because as Serum Lake pointed out in his video that her and her prisoners are meant to represent each of the Jungian Archetypes. Outside of just being references to other Batman media it actually ties into her background in psychology…
