The whole fish factory story is often misrepresented as "the kid from the fish factory who became a cyclist". But Vingegaard has actually completed education equivalent to British A Levels and only worked at the fish factory because his cycling team put him there in order to create some structure in his life. He'd work in the mornings and then train the rest of the day.

Just a little tip for english speakers: Try say "Wing a gore" or even better "Ving a gore". If you enter the english (almost non)sentence "Wing a gore" in Google Translate: English to Whatever Language and press the "speaker symbol" button 🔉in the English column, the pronunciation is almost right. The (totally non)sentence "Ving a gore" gets even closer. Compare/test with Danish in the left column but writing his actual name "Vingegaard" and press the "speaker symbol" button 🔉to hear the "correct" (computerized) pronunciation.😄 Note! If I google "Google Search" I get a small interface which uses an American English accent which is not as close as the UK English I get on the Googles Translate page. Think it's because I set my English preference to UK english somewhere.

Janteloven is somehow the strict opposite of the American position. By the way, not only Danish, but a manifestation of overall Scandinavian values. Many would say that this law is limiting, but somehow it helps to combine efforts together as a group. And in this group you are free to be left or right, as long as the main goal is to lift together in mutual respect. Since some Americans don't understand this idea, they think the social democratic countries are communist areas :)
@HvilFred Жыл бұрын
Saying he did his job well as a domestique in the 2020 Vuelta for Roglic is underplaying it a fair bit. His performance that year is widely regarded as that of a super domestique; a performance that led several Danish pundits, biased as they are, to predict he'd be a GT factor in the future. Often out-riding Sepp Kuss, It was a mini break out for him that showed his super strength.

@@larshansen4557it is not a problem at all. Jonas is still an amazing athlete. However what Bacchus is saying is right. Vingegaard is loved in Denmark because he is a stand up guy and humble. Yes, the concept of Janteloven is real in Denmark, but its not so rigid perceived that the dogma give reason to believe. Its more about checking people's ego. People who comes of as high and mighty and think their shit dont stink is not held in high regard in Denmark.
