On a funny note, in my native Scandinavian tongue, the 'Bjornlings' tribe has the same name as the other tribe, 'Baersonlings,' but uses the native word for bear instead of the English one. So it's basically the same name for 2 different tribes

I also couldn't help but think Urslo is just a combination of ursus (bear) and Oslo (Norway's capital) lol. And they are called Ursfjordings (?) meanwhile Ursfjorden is a real place in Norway too. They may be savage Chaos-worshipers but as a Norwegian it's hard not to have some love for Norsca lol.

Unless it says explicitly that they are chaos worshippers, and hell, even so, I think it would be cool to have an Ursun worshipping Norscan Tribe.

It would be, back in the older books alot of Norscans didn't worship Chaos. Shame GW disagreed with the idea of nuance and subtlety.

@@ShadowWolfRisingNah they where still mostly chaos worshippers, in sixth edition there was an rpg supplement that mentions a Ulrican priest that was Norscan, but the very same hordes of chaos rulebook stated outright that like 99% of all Norscans where followers of chaos. It’s not something they can really get away from considering that their ancestors the Norsii from which all Norscans are descended from where collectively enslaved by chaos.

Man, Baersolings have been very important in my campaign. Together with Norse Dwarves, they basically destroyed Norse Chaos Dwarves and Aeslings and annexed large parts of their territory.

Ofc it's bastardized. BeorG and BeorN? lol. But Chaos? I mean, that's what I'd expect from modern 0 creativity GW, but imagine if they weren't. Alongside Ulric's chosen and some other Magic side-effects, that would open a whole new can of worms when discussing Winds of Magic. Almost 0% expectation for that to happen though.

Should have highlighted Teddy bear on the family tree :) I think we will not get much new lore from GW for quite some time....lots of good stuff from Cubicle 7 though. Interesting that they may be children of Ulric, we have the children of ulric - werewoves and the Norscan Claws of Skael who cliam to be descendants of a Dragon - maybe a link to Cathay.

We need more werecreatures. Werebears for Norsca and Kislev would be crazy. Also hot take: Children of Ulric should be a hero unit for the eventual Middenheim DLC with the ability to shapeshift in battle between a more aggressive version of a Empire Captain (but with less defense) with utility skills to buff allies around them, and a big snow-white werewolf form that acts as a tanky assassin hero that also can dish out some serious damage against enemy regiments.

We need a bigger emphasis on the werewolf and werebear units and on Norsca being more of a viking style chaos where they should be wearing a mix of furs and leathers and some plate considering they live in a land of perpetual snow and ice. If norscas rework doesn't have a significant reskin of the mauraders so that they're not just basically half naked strongmen and are in more appropriate gear than CA will really have missed a big marker in separating Norsca from the Warriors of Chaos.

I seriously hope and pray CA adds the Beorg as a new Norscan LL, complete with skin-bear units to play. Like, seriously, itd fit like a freakin glove considering the main subject of the RoC campaign! They could even make their campaign all about corrupting Ursun for their own gain.

There is a lot of misconception about Norsca indeed. To the point that GW went like "what the hell" and rolled with it. It should be even more diverse, but whatever. :) As for Ursun, Kislev and Bear Blessings: Warhammer Online had an Epic Quest in Kislev / Praag that was just about that: Ursan Blessing if you would. It wasn't pulled off properly(...WAR?), but the idea was there. Epic's name: Destruction. Given that it wasn't pulled off properly, it's the weakest of the 3 in T4(but it's not hard to fall behind the likes of Brink of Chaos or Faith is Madness - REALLY GOOD stuff!).

Werebears for Kislev and Werewolves for Ulric would be sick. Also Beorg would make a great LL.............for Dogs of War, as he's Dogs of War specifically. Lord I miss the Non-Chaos Norscans, why GW thought it was a good idea to make them basically non-existent is beyond me.

It should be remembered (if I am right from Warhammer RPG) that not ALL Norscan did follow the Chaos Gods, some are maybe raiders, but not chaos followers. And they fought against those who bowed to Chaos. I would like to see more of them... Of course also not all Werecreatures are chaos tainted (although I guess the Sigmarites tend to see that in another way).

For me, I pray for Beorg to make into Total Warhammer III as a Legendary Lord for either Norsca, the Dogs of War if they're made into a playable faction, or both. I want Skinbears and Skinwolves in my armies!
