Going by this theory, Phanes probably tampered the irminsul before saving Teyvat because she knows if her enemies are aware of her weakened state, she'll be very vulnerable. If controlling anyone's fate in Teyvat means controlling the data in the irminsul, then she probably wrote her own data so anyone around her wouldn't question her peculiar existence as "Paimon" even though her entire design gives it away.

That would be so cool! Because I do feel like Traveler (I’m referring to Aether here) is actually more aware of things than we think. Remember when he did research on Khaenriah (first Dainsleif quest) on his own? Without letting Paimon know? Or when Enjou hinted that (in the presence of Paimon) Paimon may betray him? One important thing is also like to mention is the strange response from the archons to Paimon. If she indeed is somehow related to Celestia, the archons must know her in some way. Did you notice that Venti and Paimon are having an unusual interaction? Did she manipulate the Irminsul tree and deleted herself? Venti is a bard, so maybe he remembers her through his written songs and/or poems? Aether is sharp but at the same time very careful. He even hides his thoughts from us as players (especially when he is exposing things during the archon quest). So that wouldn’t surprise me at all if he knew that Paimon couldn’t be trusted at all.

Edit: I just finished Archon quest rn and the heavenly principles was ABNORMALLY quiet after the whole thing, like the rules of the seven was literally broken and they didn't say anything. Plus Focalor doesn't actually know if the heavenly principles is alive or not, she and Neuvillette only assumed they successfully deceived them, perhaps due to their silence but in reality they could actually be dead old comment: I haven't done Fontaine Archon Quest yet, but based on the discussions going around, It seems like Focalor believe that she 'deceived' the Heavenly Principles, and returned authority to Neuvillette. And with the Abyss Whale invading Teyvat the Heavenly Principles should DEFINITELY wake up, since Abyss and forbidden knowledge is such a huge threat to them, plus they just lost one of their Archons + Gnosis. Yet they are still asleep, which is abnormal, it just suggest they are indeed 'dead' ( lost their original form and became Paimon ) in that case Focalor lowkey clowned herself since she didn't deceive anyone since there's no Heavenly Principles in the first place. Which is another example of Heavenly Principles influencing the affairs of Teyvat despite being dead just like Rebecca. (again these could be incorrect since I didn't do the Archon Quest yet)

What if there are more Gods in Celestia, but only Asmoday has special powers? Because there are 4 Gods created by the First One, we only know 2 of them (Asmoday and Istaroth). Also, in the manga, when Vennessa ascended to Celestia, there were a lot of thrones there, like there were other Gods. We can think of it like a school. Asmoday is the principal, Gods are the students, but where are the assistant principals? Additionally, Nahida spoke of "awakening the Heavenly Principles by breaking the Gnosis." So is there a connection to Asmoday with the power of Gnosis?

From the Fontaine glider story we also know that there was a God of Life that used the Primordial Sea after the defeat of the Sovereigns to create various things which was likely another Shade though we don't know their name, but it perfectly mirrors the artifact slots so far, we also know they were alive and came to an agreement with the 2nd? or 3rd? Descenders at some point. ??? the God of Life(Flower of Life piece), ??? the God of Death(Plume of Death piece), Istaroth the God of Time(Sands of Time piece), ??? the God of Eonspace?(Goblet of Eonspace piece) Phanes the Primordial God(Circlet of Logos piece).

It resembles the crown, which means authority. 2nd descender: Asmoday, the Sustainer of Heavenly Principals. She resembles the goblet, which represents space/void. Seeing that Genshin and Honkai are two parallel worlds, The Sustainer should be parallel to Sirin in the another life form. 3rd descender should be Istaroth, the god of time. It resembles the hourglass. 4th descender is us, the traveller. It can be both Lumine and Aether, it just depends on which role you're playing as. The thing that Nahida mentioned about our sibling being from teyvat is kinda confusing, I can't explain that. Anyways, we resemble the flower, life. That's because we were suggested to have the light element before loosing it. The point is that life and light are related, so that's why we resemble life, because we possessed the light element when we were at our prime form. 5th descender should be the god that resembles the plume, death. That's because death comes after life. Its name is still unknown.

@@P0ngk1 Thing is, they are Shades of the Primordial One, not separate entities, think of them like limbs, the head still decides which limb does what, but that limb is also a sort of entity in itself, but still only does what the head wants. So they can't be separate Descenders, we also know that the 3rd Descender is long dead and that they are the Gnoses themselves so they are unrelated to Time.

I think whether she deceived the Heavenly Principles or not, she still had to protect Fontaine by returning the Hydro Archon's power to the Hydro Dragon Sovereign so he could absolve Fontainians from their sins in time before they get dissolved. That was going to take 500 years either way to build up the indebtnitium. I think the only major difference is had the Heavenly Principles been 'dead' this entire time and everyone knew there was nothing to deceive, then maybe Focalors wouldn't have had to 'split' and there would have been no Furina.

Honestly Paimon being the remains of the Primordial One wouldn't be a big stretch. Think about it; she has wings and a crown and has the same otherworldly design as the Traveler and the Sustainer, yet Nahida stated that Paimon was from this world... It explains why she can move when time is frozen without being Istaroth or a Descender, it explains why she contains fragmented knowledge about the nations but has no real identity or memories, being reduced to a floating lifeform that exists for the joy of food and travel (much like Guoba). It's honestly less of a stretch than I thought. I still wanna know what happened to the Shades and which "war of vengeance" Neuvilette is talking about. He mentions that the Primordial One was wounded in a "war of vengeance" which is the reason why the gnoses and visions were created, and implying that this "war of vengeance" happened before the Archon War. That leaves us with two possible wars; the first war against the dragons and the war between the Primordial One and the Second Who Came. Since the unified primordial civilisation had direct contact with the Primordial One and the Shades before the arrival of the Second Throne, it's most likely that the "war of vengeance" is the war against the Second Throne which ruined the primordial civilisation and made the Shades disappear, but why does Neuvilette call it a war of vengeance if it's between two gods that came from outside Teyvat? Is he implying that the Primordial One and the other Descenders are some sort of race, and the Second Throne wanted vengeance for something? Remember, the twins' arrival in Teyvat was described by "the heavens responded" to a summoning. Are all the Descenders part of some weird race of gods from outside Teyvat? Even with Neuvilette's reveal, everything before the Archon War is so confusing, especially when it comes to the Descenders.

That line in traveler's voiceline "But the world will burn no more for you shall ascend" reminds me of Teyvat travail trailer where Dainsleif said "Defeat me, command me to step aside... The THREADS OF ALL FATE WILL BE YOURS TO REVEAWE" That's what he meant by that. And if you really think about it, Neuvillette in his last ascension voiceline has "I became a fully fledged dragon" and he actually did in the game. Now imagine the same but for the Traveler.

Maybe Paimon was The original god of Teyvat and everyone has forgotten about her, and her form is shrinked as The mascot, and her memories are lost. During Sumeru Event, i remember traveler praised Paimon that shes getting smarter, i think Thats one of her ways of getting her power back, in The end of The Story. It's been quite a strong indirect hint that the Heavenly Principles are dead/gone ever since at least Enkanomiya. Even if you look at Celestia, it appears to have signs of wear and tear. We haven't met any Celestial agents ever since the beginning of the game. One thing bugs me though - if the Heavenly Principles are restored, wouldn't they be evil? Isn't that Paimon?

Yes I think it became increasingly obvious since enkanomiya all the way to sumeru & now fontaine the hp/celestia is severely weskened/dead/halfway dead. All the shit we heard celestia has done were centuries-millenia ago, khaenriahn cataclysm likely the most recent. 5 gnosis-less archons & one destroyed celestial throne later, still silence from that island in the sky. at least for now.

Twins attemp to flee but bump into sustainer who detains them. 3. Sustainer destroys khaenri'ah (Perhaps "that thing" Ei mentioned IS the Sustainer) 4. Sustainer gets heavily wounded/corrupted/disabled. 5. Sustainer's grip on twins fades and they escape, albeit chaotically. 6. The twin might have not saved his/her powers as many think but rather restored them, as she/he had 500 years to do so, and with Dainsleif.

This also probably means that the "sustainer" is the tyrant enforcing things without her leader, making dumb brutal decisions like an automaton. The other thing we learnt recently is that when the traveller rescued paimon in the water she was being sucked towards a whirlpool. This implies something knew where she was and was trying to drown her. The other parts of neuvilette's lore bomb are massive also (you need friendship 6 and finish act 5 to see them) It talks about how the heavenly principles with the help of somebody turned the remains of the 3rd descender into the gnosis that held that fragment of the authority of the dragon sovereigns. Here's a crazy theory. What if the dragon king is the original usurper, one who changed the elemental lords into the dragons and pushed the world away from it's original form. Then simply declared the primordial one to be the usurper when the world was already usurped from the primordial one. We know the dragon king perished maybe he was the 3rd descender that the gnosis were made of. It also says the heavenly principles had help from someone to make the gnosis, maybe one of the hexenzirkel? Alice certainly cares about the welfare of teyvat and has powers of a high order. We know gold is on the same power level as "foul" : skirk's master, and gold is an ally of alice so likely of the same power level. Nasizzenkruetz who is also still around with close to the power of a descender has now been "cured" of his insanity by the power of reason in the sword. Anyway interesting times.

I actually like the idea for this story to be not about US, but about our ‘companion’. Would be nice the plot to turn out to be the story of Paimon’s journey back to the throne, while we as travellers just provide her assistance to go back safely. In the end we have to choose between our sibling and Paimon, which seems to be a tough decision as we are closely emotionally connected to our companion. Paimon using up all her power is plausible, because ripping eight Divine Nails out of Celestia, and then throwing them at many places in Teyvat with the intention to cleanse it of the power of The Abyss, would definitely take a lot of power. Then The Sinner, which I am guessing is the one Skirk called "The Foul," could have betrayed Paimon, throwing her weakened form into the ocean. This would explain why The Sinner is bound by chains, because The Sustainer of Heavenly Principles would punish him for betrayal. This could also explain who exactly The Sinner is. Who? The Shade of Death, because what being is powerful enough to overtake the position of The Heavenly Principles, other than a Shade? Also, The Shade of Time is Istaroth, the God of Time. The Shade of Space is The Sustainer of Heavenly Principles. And the Shade of Life would then be The Heavenly Principles themselves. But wait, why would doing all those things with the Divine Nails take so much power? Because Celestia, the place where they were ripped out of, could be made from the body of a being more powerful than The Shades. The Primordial One, Phanes. Another one of Wei's theories affirms Paimon being The Heavenly Principles, and the Shade of Life. It's the theory saying that Paimon is a creation from Celestia. Why? It fits in two ways. First, the theme of contradictions within Genshin Impact, because the God of Life, the Shade of Life, being an artificial lifeform is completely contradictory to itself. The second, is because what could be better at overseeing an entire world, in the role of The Heavenly Principles, other than an artificial lifeform designed to keep watch using the Eyes of Gods, i.e., Visions. Also, her being a creation of Celestia, kinda affirms Celestia being built out of The Primordial One, if we incorporate it into this theory. even if celestia is dead, focalors' sacrifice was still necessary because she had to destroy the hydro archon throne in order for neuvilette, the hydro sovereign, to reclaim his authority over the hydro element. the point of her "deceiving the heavenly principles" was to make celestia believe that they successfully wiped out the fontainians, cleansing them from their "sin". however, to save the fontainians from dissolving, focalors needed neuv to do it since her power isn't enough. it was all part of her plan to destroy the hydro archon throne to give neuv absolute authority over the hydro element, allowing him to have full control of the primordial sea. after neuv got back the sovereign's authority, he successfully saved fontaine because he used his power to grant all fontainians "true blood", making them real humans and no longer "unpure" humans.

He has way too weird phrasing and extremely different things that are unseen with other characters (His description of “Descended into Teyvat” and his Constellation not matching his story quest. Constellations are the reflection of fate that the Genshin verse runs on and usually depicts their own lives within Teyvat. Archon’s constellations are a mirror of their own image, probably to show how their power lets them decide a fate that is for them personally. Zhongli’s story quest is NOT the same as his constellation however, which suggests his “story” is not the same as the “fate” given to him by the higher powers. And the contract he made with the Heavenly Principles is extremely important, probably holding a late game plot point we might explore.

There is one issue with the theory. Descenders are not affected by Irminsul. Paimon is affected by Irminsul after the Sumeru arc. Even if Paimon lost her memories during the cataclysm, if she were a Descender, then she would not be affected by Irminsul during the quest. Irminsul affects only those who were born originally in Teyvat. The Heavenly Principals are heavily implied to be a Descender, so that would mean they are exempt from Irminsul’s influence. Another thing is that the Heavenly Principals are seemingly gendered (male,) which is the opposite of Paimon. Who knows, maybe we’ll get a reveal later on that it is Paimon. But for now, my guess would be that Paimon was some sort of Sustainer created by the Heavenly Principals that got the Nahida treatment during the cataclysm. It doesn’t seem too far off anymore that Paimon could be the Sustainer of Heavenly Principals. And maybe when the other archons mention that the Heavenly Principals haven’t spoken, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to assume that the Heavenly Principals used a separate entity to communicate with Teyvat.

I'm fairly certain that it's no longer implied that Heavenly Principles is Primordial One, but outright stated: Focalors says _"Were they not guilty of essentially the same crime?"_ in reference to HP creating humans to walk the earth... the only other entity we know who created humans en masse was PO (with the help of the Shade of Life).

We only have two more regions left in Teyvat, and since we’re going to Natlan: The nation of dragons, I bet in the next story we’ll see the dragon king reawakening Paimon. Remember, Paimon is named after the Demon King Paimon, who according to the Villains Wiki, is: “Also a demon that is said to always speak the truth in all his dealings - in addition to his vast knowledge Paimon is said to be able to summon and dismiss vast number of spirits and spectral assistants, have knowledge of past and future events, raise the dead for several years, creating illusions, *remain underwater indefinitely*, command fish, *levitate, clear doubts and generally accomplish any task or summon any feat by which to please the sorcerer.*” Paimon’s abilities would seem very Godlike to someone in Teyvat. It seems that the war between the Primordial One and the Second caused Paimon to shrink in size, just like Guoba and Nahida. If the Traveler’s goal is to get back to Celestia, maybe Paimon needs the Traveler’s help to get there to get her powers back?
