The Unnecessary Cycle of HATE Online

Expressing your opinion is always a good thing whether you like something or dislike something, but since the age of the internet where nobody can be held accountable for what they say, extreme loads of negativity spreads online like wildfire for seemingly no reason. Developers get death threats, innocents get doxxed, today I'm talking about things that I think don't deserve hate and the disbenefits of being a negative person. Starting with GTA 5, Starfield and even talking about Radioheads 4th album Kid A.

I’ve grown disdain towards gaming KZbin reviewers more than I do gaming journalists. I’m realizing now these KZbinrs buy into the hyperbolic hate certain games get just to boost their viewer retention with riled up audiences over engaging with a game fairly with earnest criticism. No developer intends to make a bad game especially in this day and age where their worth as individuals are trashed directly through twitter by angry fans. Bad games are a result of unfair creative limitations/budget restraints/ bad production oversight and mismanagement that these developers have no say in. Imagine being forced to make a pepperoni pizza as your livelihood and only having two slices of pepperoni use. Gaming KZbinrs and the community seem to think developers are purposely refusing to develop good games while completely ignoring both the publisher/corporate politics and production line that surround game development. It’s beyond childish to just view games as either “masterpiece 10/10 goty OR absolute trash dogshit made by horrible people”. I now understand why companies barely interact with gaming audiences.

Perfectly said, this is why I can't stand people like Act Man and Angry Joe, who's entire channels basically revolve around negativity and calling out so many games, and attacking people for liking it. And these people are completely clueless on how gamedev actually works, and wonder why devs "don't listen to their fans" (that's a lose-lose) or lash out at them. The age of social media, where it's easy for people to be hateful and complain about everything without getting punched in the face for it. Nowadays, people judge, nit-pick, and criticise everything and like to be miserable instead of just enjoying it because not liking popular things (or things in general) somehow makes them feel superior. It's honestly baffling how widespread negativity is and how self-centred people can be. It's why I no longer want a career in the entertainment industry, whether it's game-dev or film-making, because no matter what you do, thanks to people's mixed and divided expectations of what they want and don't want, there's always be a mob of people hating no matter what, and they'll pull the cRitICiSm card as a defence for blatant hate; and these fans wonder why people don't want to listen to or interact with them, or want to do things their own way. Nostalgia and recency also seems to blind and influence people's judgement on things. And the people getting offended when someone likes something they don't are beyond pathetic, no worth in life, and they don't even realise it themselves

I dont really hate GTA 5 . I really love it , it made my childhood and mostly it has that nostalgic feel into it . Especially in the soundtrack. I live online too , however i nevee liked how rockstar treated the game and the players . The fact that the loading screens could be fixed easily , the AI on cars crashing into you, the fact that some bugs took years to fix . Fixing glitches that didn't ruin the game but made it more fun and almost never fixing gameplay issues . Rockstar management was kinda shitty , i do hope it changed over time . I am really happy for GTA 6 and i hope they made some major improvements that we always wanted .

The big problem is in real life you know there’s a limit to what you can, and can’t say that will get you a fist in the face. Online there is no such threat so no one ever behaves as such. That’s how you end up with smooth brained death threats to devs over small changes in video games.

yeah I was quite surprised after really enjoying a playthrough of Fallout 4 then going on the internet and seeing all these people feeling so strongly about Fallout 4. Like geez louise if you don't like it that's fine but there's a line between just not playing it and writing essays in the internet about how much you dislike it. I played starfield for 80 hours and loved it, although some problems. After watching videos about it, i kkind of cant play it anymore. Al the problems became bigger than the good parts.

I was never a fan of GTA 5, even when it launched because I thought they made some really bad decisions and focused on the wrong areas(like making so many interiors that you go in once, a huge ocean instead of focusing more on the land, too many guns that feel similar) and made the game a bit too arcade with the driving and physics, think they went too far I don't want to go on about why I don't like it though. I just need to point out the GTA 5 critcism has gone on for a long time and it was a step back in a lot of places, especially on last gen consoles. The point about the game being out for too long, etc doesn't have much to do with it. Even 2 years after release everybody I knew didn't want to play it anymore. It's not recent

Wait wait wait....there are people out there hating on Future Diary? Did they.....see it or read it!? Also, I don't hate Starfield by any means, I just think it underdelivered on some promises and think it's a much better game with realistic mods regarding combat as I'm not all that into bullet sponging as a way of ammo starving me...other than that, a lot of the quests, accidentally securing yourself a ship that you happened upon after landing because you thought "what would happen if I went inside this ship....could I take it over or negotiate with them or something, it looks WAY better than my starter ship" (the moment I got inside, the pilot took off and my only way out was through the pirates....so I bagged a REALLY nice ship early on in my playthrough as this happened like immediately following the mission before you go back to the capital...all of these things were really cool and I have to agree with you that the companions being pretty unique is also a good time and something we really only see in BGS games.

If devs are given more time to finish and polish, and not rushed schedules just to please investors, it can improve how the current industry is rn. And also every game has their own mechanics and design and concept creation(can be simple or difficult), it will never please anynone, just like art and movies. the human race is composed of that, it will never changed! Leonardo da Vinci, Edgar Poe and many others received praise and deslike of their work! 4:54 good point too! Never look other people opinions, create your own! Its good to have critic point of ours. I failed sometimes on that but future games like GTA 6 i won't even touch the internet to avoid spoilers! or any other game one! myself after the end of 2022, i begin to decrease my negativity because of the religion(constant thinking about God etc..)
