I swear she really was a female version of him. I think one of the things he really loved about her was that he knew he couldn’t control her like other women. Like he said, she was headstrong and didn’t do anything she didn’t want to do. I think he really respected that about her. I really would’ve liked to see her in Purple Rain. I remember she wrote a book a couple of years before she passed away. It was all in color and the font was in cursive. She signed the copies that’s were initially released. I bought one and I regret getting rid of it because I feel like that was the only thing I had from her that she left behind. She said she was going to use the proceeds to fund her medical treatments because she was in and out of the hospital due to her kidney problems. She was (and still is) one of my FB friends. I still have a reply she sent me in regards to what species of cat she had. She loved her cats. She had a beautiful voice. I loved how passionate she was about her religion. The way she talked about Jesus, you can tell she was speaking from her heart and that she genuinely loved him. Her energy and enthusiasm was contagious.

Allegedly he became a Jehovah's Witness later in life and even went door-to-door as was required in his faith. Great video on 1 of my favorite couples ever!!! Prince chose not to marry the real Vanity and instead married Vanity look-a-likes/knockoffs. His tour manager said that he was shattered when he got the news that Vanity had died. I do believe that he'd genuinely loved her, but wasn't able to commit to her the way she needed him to. I also think he'd realized albeit too late that she was actually his soulmate. I don't believe that it's a coincidence that he died just a couple of months after her. Couldn't live in the world with her, didn't want to live in a world without her. 😢

This is a glorious testament to the healing power of God's love. 1:36-2:55 is awful. After years of selling her sexuality out and living solely in the flesh, she's sucking furiously on a cigarette, her voice is so low, nearly hoarse, and you can really tell that her spirit is shot. But then, in 4:33-5:33 she clears it all up, explaining she looked that broken because of addiction and living purely for the world. Yet, the healing power of God's love pulled her out of this vortex of death and into a renewed, purified life and she was alive and excited to share the lesson she learned about the healing power of God. We should all learn from her! Rest in sweet Heavenly peace, Ms. Matthews, and thank you for your story. May many learn from it and find the kind of peace and joy you did.
