I was Whitney Houston's personal chef for many years. I had the privilege to meet many stars in the industry. Most were horrible people. Prince was at a dinner party Whitney was giving. He spent the evening with me in the kitchen, talking about all the people he hated at the party. He was incredibly friendly and down to earth. I felt like I'd known him forever.

My husband was invited to Paisley Park in the 90’s, a friend of his was recording in his studio and he ran into Prince in the hallway. We would go to his night club Glam Slam he owned in Minneapolis in the early 90’s. A friend paid a membership fee so we would could use the pass, you could hang out with Prince on a private floor overlooking the dance floor. He would be in the corner by himself observing, he gave the vibe he wanted to be alone. He would crash the dance floor in the downtown Mpls bars, he would walk through the middle of the dance floor with his body guards. Fun memories, he loved Mpls!

My wife and I were invited two or three different times. The invites were always last minute as our friend who worked with Prince didn't even know until last minute. It was always like 11pm on a Wednesday night. (It didn't necessarily mean prince was going to perform. It could be a band he wanted to watch) I passed as I had to work early the few times we were invited. I never imagined we wouldn't get another chance with him passing. My wife doesn't let me live that down the few times we were invited!

What i loved about Prince was that he stayed true to himself and his music. He never allowed people's expectations of him to influence him. Some people cannot comprehend true genius so they categorize him as weird.

Oh My! How time flies! 1980 was 4 decades ago! I had a blast in that decade. I love the good quality, in-depth documentaries about everything that happened in that bombastic decade. Over the past 3 decades, many details get blurred or forgotten. I remember the music, MTV ruled the pop culture, lots of great movies--but, the other areas of the 80s I can barely recall, if at all. Prince, Michael Jackson, and Madonna ruled the dance floors/music scene. Today, the 80s seem as if they occurred a century ago, not the 40 yrs!

After Prince passed away was when I discovered why people were so infatuated with him. Prior to his death I had no clue what the big deal was. I had no idea all those cool songs I used to hear as a kid were either Prince songs or Prince samples. I also did not know he was a comedian and I had no idea he was actually a (brilliant) musician. And his personal life is just as intriguing as his public persona. He was truly a one of a kind.

I was around 11, or so.. I am now 50 and I can say that Nothing else, musically, had ever impacted me the way Prince's music has.. I am Purple thru & thru.. I hope that when I take my last breath, I am listening to his music.. My wife, of 30 years, knows that and, if possible, she will fulfill my wish.. I still don't think that I could ever go in his house, but maybe someday that will change.. Much Love 2 All the Purple People around the world and all thru the universe.. Peace 2 U

He was a really neat dude. I'm from the Twin Cities, and my summer job during college was doing QA at a local food plant. We had a bottling department that normally made industrial quantities of salsas (many styles of our own and co-manufactured for others), sweet & sour sauce for major chains, BBQ sauce for private label and retail, and similar. One of the people who we did a few R&D runs for once in the early 90s... was Prince. His people got in contact with us, and we worked out the details - a few of his people were over during the production test runs, and I was able to take home a case of each of the flavors made... there was a marinara type sauce, an alfredo one, and several others I forget the details of atm. Oddly enough, I ended up talking to his personal chef several times (a guy named "Pony Tail"), and we got to chat about the Purple One himself. He described Prince as basically being really fun to be around, but who had astonishingly severe ADD or similar... exactly why people thought he was odd, was simply his own brain wiring. He slept at odd times and worked days on end on occasion, following the creative bug. We didn't end up going to retail on those products, as we would have needed to get a huge heat exchanger in order to cold-pack the alfredo variety... and if we couldn't do them all, he didn't want to do any. He dabbled in lots of things along those lines.

Please do a longer episode on Prince. Your interviewer is so down to earth, it's so interesting to watch him interview people. Vice is my vice.

Purple Rain was released when I was 21. He was a huge part of the music scene then and became one of the biggest icons of popular music. He oozed sexiness and that swagger and grin will never be replicated. 👑 live on purple reign 💕
