All she needed was a hug. Every time she would get freaked on stage her band members never treated her right always just pushing her back to the mic. Give her a hug, tell her everything is going to be OK and mean it! This gets me sad every time I watch it

And the sadder thing is she displayed her inturnal struggles for the world to see as in a interview once, the more she was struggling, the higher and bigger she would wear her hair to take the focus off her internal hurt. After that admittance, people in her life should have rallied her and been her buffer from the world when she used her hair as a scream for help.

It's the rush of endorphins from the injury that gives you a sense of relief and lightness, numbness. Frustrations and emotional pain just become overwhelming and too much to bear, and by "taking it out on yourself" it gives a brief illusion that things are still under your control. Same effect with throwing up. You cant really think if anything else if your heads in the toilet bowl.

I come from a family of addicts. My first wife was an hardcore alcoholic, and when i say hardcore i mean no disrespect to her. She just could not get passed it. I know for a fact she loved me more than life itself and during our 22 yrs of marriage she was in and out of rehab, alcoholics anonymous , psychologist and doctor (medication). So it was not because she didnt want to. She managed a year in sober living but when she got out it wasnt long. Doctors and psychologist are the worst. There answers were always "just quit". To the point they made her cry. Looking back i think if we would have been able to have a long distance marriage ( Ca. To Hi.) For a very long time, sober living was the answer. On Nov. 11th 2011 my wife took her life. I later found a letter that basically pointed to her guilt about the damage that was happening in our marriage as the reason. At one point we separated and i had a short relationship with another woman who didnt drink but was 100 more damaging to my mental state that i made a decision to stay with my wife regardless simply because at the end of the day, I knew i meant everything to her. My point is, its like Cancer and thats how we need to look at it. GOD BLESS MY WIFE, TAMMY, AND GOD BLESS AMY WINEHOUSE....

I was with my alcoholic partner for8 years I found her dead in bed 2 months after her 40th birthday, even though I walked thru fire, heaven and hell to save her she just could not stop the drink, she could never put the genie back in the bottle , when she was sober she was stunning, beautiful, intelligent, loving, sincere, when drunk, take all that away like a demon, always threatening me, ranting down the phone 24/7 then she played me against other men she seemed to meet at rehabs, and they attached them selves to her, the whole rehab racket and that’s what it is a highly funded money making racket, none of them work, you can buy booze everywhere , even in a petrol garage you cannot escape it,it’s all around us,. My loss made me blame myself, I should have, could have , would have tried so much harder, my guilt trip put me on the verge of a mental breakdown,I’m now on anti depressants for life it would seem I am maybe addicted to them I don’t know, when I hear back to black it makes me break down, dunno why, just hits me to the core, but it’s like a magnet, and I have to hear it all the way thru,.I don’t drink my self, it’s poison, addictive does your body no good, it turns wimps into superheroes, they become prize fighters, every Saturday night, I managed to get level headed to a degree I was dreaming about her, seeing her, hearing her I was haunted by here, but it was all in my mind, but sadly due to anti depressants I’m now a cold fish, have no emotions, my new wife has helped me ride the storm, if there was anything else I could have done, meeting advisors, rehabs, hospital stays on the mental ward for her, detoxing at home with a whole team coming in everyday, they gave her a daily breath test and if she passed the treatment would continue for another day but at the end of it all the lure of the drink was all she lived for, we try to find the trigger and we reckon it was the loss of her dad at 14 and that’s when it began finding her lying on her dads grave after going missing, I’d never wish my past life on anybody at all, you have to have gone thru it to believe it, and to survive it, se craved to see her dad again and I think she believed that if she died she would see him again, my friend I’ve been thru hell myself, you,re not alone , we,re not the first and we,re not the last we just get left behind

I’m so sorry. I am an addict as well. We have the BIGGEST hearts- I truly do believe it. I think many people who struggle are extremely misunderstood. Everyone I know who bad battled addiction, is very similar in certain ways. And the guilt- it hurts us so bad, to know we are hurting those we love. I know it did for me, that’s the part that almost did me in too. The shame. I’m so sorry. I wish there was a better way. And our society was kinder and more understanding. We’ve failed and lost so many. Sending you love and peace. Don’t be too hard on yourself. She knew you loved her. Sometimes on our hard days, it sneaks up on you. I’ve been there myself- thank you for loving her how you did. That you don’t often find. ❤ She knew how much you loved her

Why was Amy so self-destructive and messed up? Did it have anything to do with her upbringing? Her parents? No one seems to ask these questions in this bio. According to Dan Wooton, it's a 'mystery'. The parents need to be scrutinised!

I know what you mean, nobody seems to ask these questions. I was self destructive and addicted to drugs and I had a good upbringing. My problem was undiagnosed autism and adhd. And it’s very common for people with undiagnosed autism/adhd to turn to drugs. I’m not saying that’s the case for Amy, just that it’s not always due to our upbringing.

Fact check: Amy was brought up in Southgate, she chose to live in Camden much later. They are very different areas of North London. Southgate is very suburban, Camden's mixed,, both urban and creative class gentrified, and has been at the heart of many music scenes.

She sucumed to the momental pressure to maintain her status. For all her brilliance as a vocalist and songwriter she was very insecure in belief in herself. It's ironic that the biggest album of her career for the tragic breakup of her relationship with Blake who she called her epic love. After that album she couldn't find her footing complained she couldn't write and then her fear became the catalyst to her long struggle with alcohol and drugs. That constant pressure to maintain her place as one of the most successful female British artists of all time. Her story is so unbelievably sad.

I was married to a man who had so many addictions, he would sometimes switch addictions. He would stop gambling but would start taking hard drugs, then the sex addiction, alcohol, purchasing gifts for me (when he had wronged me, and I had no idea that was what it was). He had them ALL and amazingly kept it all a BIG secret. I thought he and I were a beautiful Catholic family. I was one of his addictions. He went to rehab twice. I, finally, found out about the escorts, he gambled away 2 million dollars, taking my children’s college money. I was OUT! I knew I was going to leave but I wanted to get him clean for the children. I left him when my kids were 5 and 7. They are now 23 and 25. He never changed. I took them far away, got them through college. They would ask about what happened and I told them that I would tell them when they were old enough to understand. I hoped they would never ask the hard questions but I told them through a counselor a few years ago. I wouldn’t wish any of it on my worst enemy but I missed the flags. They were there

I ve never heard anything similar... .but if seen through a different angle...there are many ppl who love gambling and hiring escorts that may go along with alcohol and or drugs. It makes sense that way as a lifestyle and of course he ll keep it a secret that he cheats and gambles the familys money.but you are saying he was switching addictions.does that mean he had one addiction for sometime then switching to the next and the next? I wonder what happened to him?

@@Maruzzela-l1u He is has never held a job. He inherited his family estate. Continued his lifestyle. He is 58 dating girls in their 20’s. Still gambling. If you google his name, professional poker player comes up. If he wasn’t a father, that would’ve been fine. It just wasn’t a great recipe for fatherhood. He married a girl in her 20’s with 4 kids from different fathers. They divorced 4 years later bc she was having an affair with the pool guy, taking him on trips while he watched her kids. Then he kidnapped my son at 15. Detectives in Dallas threatened to put him in front of a grand jury. I hired an international lawyer and got him back. My son and daughter live in Europe, where I live. I thought about writing a book about what happened but I just want my children to live a normal life. Thank God, they’re great kids. I didn’t know if I was going to survive the whole ordeal but you find strength and I then I thank God that they didn’t have a lot of interaction with him. Now, they’re adults and they can decide on their own what kind of relationship they want to have with him. They know he is still in his addictions, and have tried but I think they are a little uneasy bc they say it is embarrassing and hard to explain his creepy behavior. His addictions made me the complete opposite so that my children had stability. I am happily married for 17 years and counting so my kids had a stable home but this life is definitely worthy of a movie, soap opera, or just a story to let another woman know that she can see it and change the direction of her (and their) lives. @@Maruzzela-l1u Yes, I learned through Sierra Tucson that switching addictions is pretty common. If I got on to him for Drinking, he would check that, drink less but start taking drugs and so on. I didn’t know that he was sleeping with strippers and high priced hookers until rehab. It is part of getting clean. But, I stopped him bc he couldn’t have hurt me and mu idea of having a family more than he had already. He is still in his addictions. He married a 2nd time to a “Jerry Springer” woman with 4 kids. Divorced after 3 years bc she was having an affair with the pool guy 😂. You can’t make this shit up. She took him for a few $$$ and went back to rinsing men. He doesn’t work and if you google his name, it comes up at professional gambler. He played high $ poker. He ended up in rehab again, this time with a Senator from MA who was r’ing boys and Ben Affeck as buddies. I moved on, remarried. I’ve been married for 17 years, live in Europe. Their father lives his life. My son’s friends think he is creepy, my daughter won’t talk to him. He just inherited more millions and he is back to the beginning sans a wife. But, when you SEE addiction, like AW Father did and ignored it, allowed that man to come back in to her life when she looked so sick….Wow, I don’t even know how he lives with himself. I think he tried to live, vicariously,,through her and just cared about keeping her on top, imo….Just awful and sad….I pray that no one I love has to go through anything even close to what I had to go through, but I always have 2 beautiful children and they are safe and happy. I’ve seen the documentary as well as the movie. Here’s my take: She was a smoker from starting turned into weed. She met trashy Blake who was pushing her in the name of love to try drugs which eventually she did. In documentary he himself said that seeing him bleed Amy cut herself, and said I’d do anything for you.(she was madly in love with manipulator). Another pov of mine is the role of her father. Her father wanted her to be back on track just for shows gigs etc not her to be healthy or any other thing. For him healthy Amy = more shows = more money. I found that she actually didn’t care about money or fame (she too said it) but she had the art and was a true artist imo. Wrote everything which was going in her life. Only folks who were true in her life were her two childhood friends, whom Amy had called sometime back before her death. I highly suggest to see documentary.

Sid Griffin, in discussing the ultimate irony of AW’s “Rehab”, states he might be “in a party of one” regarding the overwhelming subtext of her song. Further, he postulates, that “everyone under 30 considers themselves indestructible; invincible.” This theory was hypothesized by psychiatrist Harry Stack Sullivan, well-over a century ago. Dr. Sullivan, created the term “Personal Fable,” in describing this not-uncommon developmental stage.

There's something misogynistic about this male commentator asking whether or not Amy needed 'more people looking after her.' She was a grown woman who had access to help if and when she wanted it. And, as I think history has shown with people like Britney Spears, more harm than good is done when men step in to decide what is 'best' for a grown woman. Amy's story is tragic but it's her story, her choices, and I respect her father for allowing her to make them for herself regardless of the outcomes.

Dan Wooton, you reek of hypocrisy, how dare you comment on the who or what was the trigger for her addictions, or what, or who was responsible for her death. Don't you realise that YOU were a part of the UK press and played a big part of the problem, your comments on those painful pictures of her unbelievable, as you wrote so negatively and portrayed her as a drunk and drugged out wreck in order to sell such a cheap rag Indeed Amy was responsible for her own decline, yet you are only interested in how much £££ you make out of the misery of the people you report on. Running up to her death Amy was hunted by the gutter press wherever she went, giving her the moniker of Amy Wino, and the relentless speculation about her impending death many years before it happened. She was such an amazing performer, and wore her heart on het sleeve. I understand completely what it's like to have a drink and drug addiction, and it's so hard to remain sober, but I'm not in the public arena. So Dan Wooton, please don't come along and try and feign concern and regret about her death, as we asl, know you don't have a conscience.

Her boyfriend did not support her, as soon as he got clean he only cared about himself. She loved him that much, his absence would have affected her. I think it's awful that he turned on her that way saying bad things to the press about her for money. I think that is a classic case of OK I had a relationship with you but I hate the fact that you are more famous than me and make more money than me. Jealousy of fame, sadly can come from people close to you, who are supposed to support you.
