Very interesting documentary, thank you so much. I would be interested in a video where you expand on the 50% genetics component. I had no idea so much came from our genetic makeup

That was my first instinct too: I am curious about this. But then, when I gave it a thought I was thinking: why does it actually matter if you carry this gen or not? I mean you still are responsible for your own happiness. Some are lucky with good genetics and others are not. Like with everything else in this world.

@@questionmark8046 agreed. But in my view knowing that genetics plays such a big role does not mean that you don't have to work on what you can change, but it may make you feel a little de-stressed and less frustrated to accept that there is an important component that's outside of your responsibility.

@@SecretZenGarden Of course, acceptance can be good but never an excuse. Enjoy your day!

The happiness hormone is Serotonin. That's the hormone that gives you a sense of accomplishment, gratitude, and presence. Dopamine, the reward hormone, when excessively stimulated, depletes Serotonin. Coffee is the number one Serotonin depleter. Other culprits are over-working, lack of nature, and surrounded by low-serotonin people. To maintain high serotonin levels, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, hike in nature, spend time with pet animals (preferably in nature), cut out interactions with low-serotonin people.

Our goal should be to be content with how and where we are, and how things are now. It might be on a path, we want the end result, but we should be content with the process. Also: isn't being completely in the moment, focused on the activity, being fully present, a form of meditation.

Happiness is our natural state. Happiness is the natural state of little children, to whom the kingdom belongs until they have been polluted and contaminated by the stupidity of society and culture. To acquire happiness you don’t have to do anything, because happiness cannot be acquired. Does anybody know why? Because we have it already. How can you acquire what you already have? Then why don’t you experience it? Because you’ve got to drop something. You’ve got to drop illusions. You don’t have to add anything in order to be happy; you’ve got to drop something. Life is only hard on your illusions, your ambitions, your greed, your cravings. from Awareness by Anthony De Mello . . .
