Friday the 13th was far from the first slasher movie ever made, but the 1980 film is probably the most classic example of one. The film drew inspiration from John Carpenter’s 1978 film, Halloween, but it dropped most of Carpenter’s psychological horror and suspense while upping the body count and sexual content. And so, the modern slasher formula was born. It doesn’t hurt that Jason Vorhees is one of the most iconic horror villains of all time, even though his role in the original film is a bit complicated. yes replying to myself... I never had nightmares or got scared over horror movies except for those focusing on the beach... we basically grew up at the beach as kids and horror movies like "Jaws" was more frightening and summer camp was only terrifying when two alligators from nearby ponds started chasing hikers... which they did only because it was foundout, to save garbage disposal fees the camp's cooks would feed them with leftovers or bad meat ... vegetables were dumped in unused part of the surrounding forest.

Part VI is my favorite. Seeing Jason realize his new immense power and near indestructibility made him scarier. Part VII with his accumulated damage and Kane Hodder shoulder breathing was awesome too, plus the sleeping bag kill is the best.

_Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter_ is, in my opinion, the single greatest slasher movie ever created. Yes, I like it even more than A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween and Black Christmas (and I love each of those movies). It really has everything you could ever want in a slasher flick, such as: 1.) great kills/special effects 2.) a great villain (Jason is truly at his best and most menacing here) 3.) fun characters 4.) a solid atmosphere 5.) good suspense (especially during the opening scene in the morgue) 6.) plenty of nudity What more could you really ask for? This is why Jason Voorhees will always be my favorite horror villain of all time.

As a huge horror fan and a bit of a self proclaimed "Know-it-all" I'm not really sure Jason has more kills than Freddy, considering Freddy has taken a literal population of kids away. (Freddy's Dead)
