The picture at around 0:20 was taken in the control room of studio A at Clinton Recording, NYC. It is where I recorded this score. Working with Ennio Morricone was a great pleasure. Fred, I really like what you have done with this suite! Thanks!

Thank you Michael for the insights! It must have been fantastic to get in touch with Morricone, also having the rare honor of having him visit and record in the states. "The Untouchables" is truly a magnificent movie with a no less magnificent score! Thank you very much again - also for your work on it! Fred

@donaldschmidt29902 жыл бұрын
Greatest movie composer that ever lived. BAR NONE. Why ? Simply because every composition shines with an originality all its own. Nobody created music with such imagination in every aspect. From the unique spaghetti westerns of Sergio Leone, to this even greater master work. While other composers like Elmer Bernstein looked for orchestral trumpeting sounds, Morricone went in a different direction. His The Good The Bad and The Ugly theme by all accounts imitated the sounds of howling coyotes! That's how original his music was. Bernsteins theme from the Magnificent Seven is the second most recognized work. It in no way compares to Morricone. Anymore than any other musical score compares to his Untouchables master work. Every song makes you feel the mood of the film and its characters. While John Williams produced even more material, too much of it was leftover stew. Old rehashes of earlier tunes. NOTHING DONE BY MORRICONE SOUNDS REMOTELY LIKE ANY OF HIS PREVIOUS WORK. That was his greatest gift. A style singularly all his own. Every time.
@thebarbaryghostsf2 жыл бұрын
@@donaldschmidt2990 I largely agree, but he has re-used cues from time to time. In fact the Untouchables March can be heard in one of his late 60's Comedy OST's (I'll have to go poke around my playlists to find the exact cue though. It's an early variation on it, but it is unmistakeable.) But yeah, besides that little nitpick, I couldn't agree with you more.

@@AmanKhan-wf7kc What about him? He is like Morricone's twin imho. They both came up from similar humble backgrounds musically, they both revolutionized film music in the early 60's. Some stuff was goofy, and I think Costner was goofy. Deniro of course was great though he was in few scenes, Connery was awesome as well as Andy Garcia. The one hit man that fell off the building, cool character and wardrobe, the clothing was really great, almost comic book like with how the villains looked. I still think we could of had a much better movie considering the subject matter...AL Capone of all people.

Ennio Morricone, for me, was a musical genius; to be able to create and develop music to connect visual sequences of films with the emotions the viewers feel while watching ANY scenes of ANY movie is nothing short of being a master of interpretation. Whether the action was sweet, warm and loving or brutal, searing and heart wrenching or anywhere in-between, Maestro Morricone was able, in some unbelievable way, to write the exact score needed.....what an incredible achievement by an incredible musician!
