People who spend so much time being negative in comment sections need to come back to reality. It is always possible to add to a conversation, especially with constructive criticism. I don’t understand why if they are that much of a fanboy, why they would be watching a video that is not for their brand. That is like going to a bar and complaining that you don’t like a beer they sell. It is easy. Don’t get one. No one is forcing them to buy something they don’t want and if they are jealous they need to take that issue up with their chosen brand. The conversation would go “ hey Bamboo have you seen the Qidi plus 4? What are you doing to make me not want to get one?” Instead they take it out on content creators just showing what they have to show.

For $799, this is definitely a great feature-rich option. I mean, the thing can print advanced filaments and gets hot enough to print things like PC and similar. Insane idea that you're getting that kind of versatility for less than $1000. Also, as a blind person, I'm glad this thing potentially will work with Octoprint as I can monitor my printer using my computer and screen reader software so I know what's going on. The problem I have with Bamboo is that their stuff is not compatible with my specific needs in mind and no Octoprint support so that means I literally can not use it as I can't see the touchscreen. Locked down options like that are usually terrible for accessibility for people with disabilities like myself. No one will talk about this but an open-software type of approach is best for blind folks who want to 3d print.

I'm not really sure how anyone could complain about it. You need to tram the bed on any consumer level printer. At this price point, it sure as well won't be done by motors. The variance of the bed, z screws and any mounting used between the two needs to be accounted for.

I do love that you point out the stupid brand loyal comments that provide no value, but stroke the ego of those that made the comment..... I have noticed that the space efficiency and location of features were much better thought out in my Plus4 than my Max3. That little inspection port on the hotend/extruder connection is really a nice feature. When I clogged it using PETG-CF in the factory 0.4mm nozzle, it was ridiculously easy to be back up and running.

I basically see both sides. I don't think products should be released before they are ready, so in that respect the first batch of printers should come with a stable and feature complete firmware. However, I do think it is standard practice in the modern age to update any piece of technology you get when you first use it. Either way, I think any person looking to buy a new piece of tech, or a 3D printer specifically, should do their best to consider the product as it is currently sold rather than by past judgments. So in that respect, if they watch your first video and then watch this follow-up, they can rest assured that most issues present with units built before the launch have now been solved. What is most important to me is not if a company has any issues with products, but how they handle them. At least Qidi is using open source as their base and is attempting to stick as close to Klipper as possible, as the community wanted. Plus I know they have excellent customer service. Thank you thank you for this update. Making me very excited to start using my Plus4, my hopefully later today!

Great video! 100% agree it needs to be an unbox/setup and press play printer to truly compete with Bambu Lab. Going from a few years of heavily modded Creality machines to an X1C I wont ever go back to a machine that needs fiddling to even work right. I like to spend my time designing prints and trusting that they will print, not fixing my printer so it will even print. The bed levelling is still a touch concerning for me because I had many issues with probing and auto Z offsets in Klipper but that's likely due to the setup and quality of the aftermarket probes I used so we'll see! I will be keeping an eye on this machine because the price to feature ratio cannot be denied. But to be honest, the X1C can already print some pretty exotic materials and with the same amount of time spent to do a couple small mods to the X1C (chamber heater and thermistor wire resistance mods) as you may have to spend getting this up to the same "press print and walk away" quality level as the X1C, the X1C can achieve a higher (than stock) hotend temp and heat the chamber to the same temp as the Plus 4. TL;DR - Looks promising but needs more time to see if they improve the out of the box experience. If they do, I would 100% buy the Plus 4 over a P1S or X1C, especially if/when they release their version of an AMS. If you already own an X1C and don't need the additional build plate volume, then the X1C can be modded very easily to print pretty much all of the same materials.

If Bambu releases a printer of this size, it will be priced very high. They currently have only one printer with heated chamber, which is X1E, and it is two times more expensive than regular X1C. X1E costs about four times more than the Quidi Plus 4.

I like the Plus 4 a lot, especially because it's running on Klipper. However the skipping of the first batch is probably wise, because the bearing issue is by far the worst of the teething problems that you faced. I use a Bambu X1C at work, and I have one of these QP4's going BRRRRR ten feet from me as I'm typing this. I like both machines. I am liking this one more because it uses standard Klipper. I haven't gotten the chance to use the heated chamber yet, but I'm thinking that I'm going to jump into the deep end of the pool with some nylon strng trimmer line and see if I can get it to not warp. Now, my first printer was a FLSUN delta back in 2016 - those only came as a kit. You put every single part together. Every nut and bolt. So, when I got the machine plugged in and the basic calibration stuff wouldn't work until I did this update, it didn't phase me. The Bambu arrived ready to print out of the box, the Qidi didn't. The Qidi has a heated chamber, the Bambu doesn't. The Qidi has a bigger build volume than the Bambu. The Qidi just cost me about $760 with discount code, while the Bambu cost my boss around $1100ish. I will probably add multi-color to this thing at some point. So far I am happy with it.

I don't under stand why people would be mad about this printer. It's exactly what they wanted from bambu, a P1S with a touch screen and larger print volume. It's got auto z, which is what I've been waiting for, multi material coming next year and a chamber heater to boot. Once the qidi box or whatever it's called drops bambu is going to have issues if they haven't released a large printer by then. I think your being a little harsh on the need for this printer to be 100% perfect out the box. Products that cost way more will suck on there first production runs. Also unfortunately the loose print head bearings isn't a new thing. My X plus 3 had the same issue and Qidi has a fix document that has you do the exact same thing that you did. I will be getting the plus 4 but I'll wait a few months to let the firmware mature.

It started through the motions then a "!! No trigger on probe after full movement" error. There was a confirm button which I pressed. The bed then proceeded to slam into the print head, putting a nice little mark on the PEI sheet and giving the same error. Tried the firmware update, then a repeat of the attempt. I am considering a 3D printer. I know I want an enclosed printing area for a lot of reasons. QIDI is at a much cheaper price so it’s my lead candidate. I looked on the Bamboo web site in their tech support area and there are a fair number of issues with Bamboo support like it can take weeks to get a response back. Faster printing times and the ability to have a heated chamber seems like important characteristics. I still have not purchased yet. Working on my 3D models first and if Kamala Harris gets elected there is a much better start-up costs tax breaks since one does not really know if the product concept’s demand. So may have to do several product concepts to get one that is a money maker.

Qidi Plus 4 seems better. It has a chamber heater and it's a smaller build volume, which is quicker to heat up. SV08 is based on the Voron 2.4 which has a really complicated flying gantry design, the Qidi Plus 4 is a simpler design and less to go wrong. It also appears to have fewer launch problems than the SV08, but there just hasn't been enough time to know the long term reliability of either machine to be honest.

With the SV08 you could follow along and do the multi-head/tool changer mod that Teaching Tech is currently working on. @@atvking535 Yes i'm aware of this project! It's very cool and I can't wait to see the end product. But it's going to be an uphill battle to get it anywhere as usable as the Prusa XL., There's a lot of missing pieces to that design, it's not as simple as just duplicating the toolhead 4 times. The secret is in the docking, undocking, and pruging and how that's handled. The XL has a lot more hardware onboard to make sure the docking is working correctly. Like a hall effect sensor on each toolhead and dock.
