I'm not really sure how anyone could complain about it. You need to tram the bed on any consumer level printer. At this price point, it sure as well won't be done by motors. The variance of the bed, z screws and any mounting used between the two needs to be accounted for.

I do love that you point out the stupid brand loyal comments that provide no value, but stroke the ego of those that made the comment..... I have noticed that the space efficiency and location of features were much better thought out in my Plus4 than my Max3. That little inspection port on the hotend/extruder connection is really a nice feature. When I clogged it using PETG-CF in the factory 0.4mm nozzle, it was ridiculously easy to be back up and running.

I basically see both sides. I don't think products should be released before they are ready, so in that respect the first batch of printers should come with a stable and feature complete firmware. However, I do think it is standard practice in the modern age to update any piece of technology you get when you first use it. Either way, I think any person looking to buy a new piece of tech, or a 3D printer specifically, should do their best to consider the product as it is currently sold rather than by past judgments. So in that respect, if they watch your first video and then watch this follow-up, they can rest assured that most issues present with units built before the launch have now been solved. What is most important to me is not if a company has any issues with products, but how they handle them. At least Qidi is using open source as their base and is attempting to stick as close to Klipper as possible, as the community wanted. Plus I know they have excellent customer service. Thank you thank you for this update. Making me very excited to start using my Plus4, my hopefully later today!

The loose bearing issue has actually been present on the X-Plus 3 and X-Max 3 printers which seem to use a similar clamping method between the toolhead and bearing sleeve. If Bambu releases a printer of this size, it will be priced very high. They currently have only one printer with heated chamber, which is X1E, and it is two times more expensive than regular X1C. X1E costs about four times more than the Quidi Plus 4.

I don't under stand why people would be mad about this printer. It's exactly what they wanted from bambu, a P1S with a touch screen and larger print volume. It's got auto z, which is what I've been waiting for, multi material coming next year and a chamber heater to boot. Once the qidi box or whatever it's called drops bambu is going to have issues if they haven't released a large printer by then. I think your being a little harsh on the need for this printer to be 100% perfect out the box. Products that cost way more will suck on there first production runs. Also unfortunately the loose print head bearings isn't a new thing. My X plus 3 had the same issue and Qidi has a fix document that has you do the exact same thing that you did. I will be getting the plus 4 but I'll wait a few months to let the firmware mature.

Great video! 100% agree it needs to be an unbox/setup and press play printer to truly compete with Bambu Lab. Going from a few years of heavily modded Creality machines to an X1C I wont ever go back to a machine that needs fiddling to even work right. I like to spend my time designing prints and trusting that they will print, not fixing my printer so it will even print. The bed levelling is still a touch concerning for me because I had many issues with probing and auto Z offsets in Klipper but that's likely due to the setup and quality of the aftermarket probes I used so we'll see! I will be keeping an eye on this machine because the price to feature ratio cannot be denied. But to be honest, the X1C can already print some pretty exotic materials and with the same amount of time spent to do a couple small mods to the X1C (chamber heater and thermistor wire resistance mods) as you may have to spend getting this up to the same "press print and walk away" quality level as the X1C, the X1C can achieve a higher (than stock) hotend temp and heat the chamber to the same temp as the Plus 4. TL;DR - Looks promising but needs more time to see if they improve the out of the box experience. If they do, I would 100% buy the Plus 4 over a P1S or X1C, especially if/when they release their version of an AMS. If you already own an X1C and don't need the additional build plate volume, then the X1C can be modded very easily to print pretty much all of the same materials.

So many people added manual wheels and springs under their print beds. So you can't please everyone I guess. And there is nothing worse than fanboys. It's OK to like a company but getting upset because someone likes something else or has a different opinion is crazy. I have 4 printers from 3 different companies. They all have their good and bad.

Qidi printers r way better than other printers especially bambu because they lack one important feature which is a heater, some people feel like they did something when they bought a bamboo and they can actually print by pushing a button on an app and then sell overpriced plastic to unknowing customers.......... Someone really needs to make a multi material system that's compatible with multiple types of printers or just klipper I know it has to be possible, and yes I know there's other ones out there that are not that expensive and takes a while to print the parts and calibrate

Yes, you should always update your printer when you get it - essentially all hardware will benefit from new drivers/firmware - BUT you shouldn't have to do it to have a functional product! It should work as designed out of the box except for edge cases. That's a sign of a rushed product, and rushed products are a sign of a poorly managed company.

Sovol sv08 with enclosure or qidi plus 4? Especially for ABS and other high temp materials
@spooknik-z3t
@spooknik-z3t 2 күн бұрын
Qidi Plus 4 seems better. It has a chamber heater and it's a smaller build volume, which is quicker to heat up. SV08 is based on the Voron 2.4 which has a really complicated flying gantry design, the Qidi Plus 4 is a simpler design and less to go wrong. It also appears to have fewer launch problems than the SV08, but there just hasn't been enough time to know the long term reliability of either machine to be honest.

@spooknik-z3t i agree! I wished to have it a lot sooner before launch but look around. Apparently there are reviewers with almost a month on it instead of a week like me.

With the SV08 you could follow along and do the multi-head/tool changer mod that Teaching Tech is currently working on. Sounds like he's going to do a complete guide once the process is done and it looks very promising. The goal is a Prusa XL at a fraction of the cost and so far the total cost is like 1/3 that of the Prusa with very little left to spend on.

@@atvking535 Yes i'm aware of this project! It's very cool and I can't wait to see the end product. But it's going to be an uphill battle to get it anywhere as usable as the Prusa XL., There's a lot of missing pieces to that design, it's not as simple as just duplicating the toolhead 4 times. The secret is in the docking, undocking, and pruging and how that's handled. The XL has a lot more hardware onboard to make sure the docking is working correctly. Like a hall effect sensor on each toolhead and dock.

dude the first thing you do is update the firmware... like with literally everything, PC gets a Bios update and you download the newest drivers, my robot vacuum got its firmware update first before doing anything else... i really think you should reconsider your stance on this topic. do you expect the company to keep 10k+ machines sitting in some warehouse on the newest firmware? the unglued bearing is 100% a QC Problem and if you as a reviever got such a machine i 100% agree that some other consumer will get the same issue and it is a valid point to point out. no mater how much they tell you that "you're the only one" It just felt like you were a little rushed in that review because you had to leave the country in less than 12 hours and still had to shoot and edit the video. otherwise a good review.

@ethirion3534 I agree, i also do but shipping it in a way that even auto update doesn't work 🤷‍♂️ most systems prompt you as soon as you connect to wifi so that's what i would like to see in the future. I don't see updating it as a problem. Everything else you own the first thing you have to do is update it. Your new cell phone, computer, even my new truck, so I don't see why this would be any different. The XP4 has more chamber insulation than any filament drying system on the market and can do multiple spools. Once at temperature its more efficient. Also an excellent use of idle machines in a print shop with no additional hardware or space. I planned to add insulation to my XM3 for this purpose, but qidi heard us and implemented it in X4 series.

@@NoizieWorks Thank you for that explanation. I have not ordered the Qidi Plus 4, at least not yet. I have an X-Max 3 and an X-Smart 3, which are my main printers. They have both been serving me well. I am impressed with the Qidi printers because they are more focused on making printers that can print high-strength materials to make strong, functional parts. As great as the Plus 4 sounds, I am not sure if it is enough of an advancement over my X-Max 3 to make it worthwhile for me at this time. I have hopes that Qidi will make an 'Max 4' with a bigger build volume than the Plus 4 but with the same functionality. What I would like even more would be for Qidi to update their iFast dual-extruder printer (which also has a heated chamber) with a larger build volume and high-speed kinematics, but I think that is only a dream right now...
