It blows my mind with all of the great All-America players that the U of M has had over the last 7 decades that they have one national title that being in '97 when they and Nebraska were co-title champs in two different polls. The biggest glaring problem is always Ohio State in the end. We all know what happened this last time 62-39 and in reality it wasnt even that close.

Michigan needs to follow the model of what Rich Rod had going on when he recruited Denard Robinson, who was the best quarterback Michigan has ever had. He is also the exact kind of player that ALL of the winning programs have that are in contention for a national title or on the rise. Look at Clemson - Deshaun Watson, Alabama - Jalen Hurts, Ohio State - Braxton Miller, Cordale Jones, JT Barrett and Dwayne Haskins is on deck who made a name for himself by filling in for JT Barret and beat Michigan in a quarter and a half, Penn State - Trace McSorely over Christian Hackenberg how much has Penn State improved since that change , Oklahoma - Baker Mayfield the Heisman Trophy winner, Michigan State - Brian Lewerke, Louisvile - Lamar Jackson - another Heisman trophy winner and phenom. This is the era of the Run-Pass-Option style quarterback. If Michigan is going to really improve, then need to get with the program of what works in college football. The RPO quarterback is superior the 6-4 drop back style. Look at USC vs Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. Darnold could make no plays with his legs so when his receivers were covered, the play was dead. RPO quarterbacks can step up and beat the defense running. It's too easy if you have a good defense to say "We'll cover everyone and force their quarterback to throw into our coverage or take a sack. When we stop the run, Michigan is dead in the water. That's was reality for Michigan this year. It was the running game that helped them beat Indiana, Purdue and Air Force. In these games, there were no touchdown passes thrown. In the games they lost against Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin and South Carolina there were no touchdown passes thrown. there were only field goals and touchdown runs. They manufactured one touchdown pass vs Ohio State. Against these five teams, Michigan threw 1 touchdown pass. ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the college football playoff, look at how many teams made it to the final four in the last 4 years with the RPO style quarterback: 2017- Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, 2016 - Clemson and Alabama, 2015 - Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and 2014 - Alabama, Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State. That is 12 RPO quarterback programs to 4 traditional quarterback style teams. Do you see the trend? That is a 3-1 ratio. Shea Patterson is an RPO quarterback they will get, but he is an unexpected acquisition from Mississippi who was never recruited and he may not be eligible, If he is, you only get him for one year. None of the recruits in Michigan's camp are RPO QB's, they are all pocket passers: Brandon Peterson, Dylan McCaffery, Michael Sessa, Alex Malzone, and Garrett Moores. Brandon Peters is best out of all they have left, not including Patterson. Michigan fans, expect more of the same results in games against quality opponents. Outside of Patterson, there is no relief insight.

Eric S Fisher because Bo had a horrible bowl record, especially Rose Bowl record, so he blew a lot of chances at a title. Woody Hayes had a descent Rose Bowl record, and capitalized on his opportunities better in those games. Again he blew titles as well, but capitalized on a few as well.

As a rival fan, IMHO Jim looks like he's lost the passion for having to do what it takes to be elite. He looks like Urban did for most of the year, like "I want to do this but I just can't!" Not because he's out of his league, more like the fire and passion for it is gone. The time and effort for a college coach is a F)(;5ing grind 24/7 365. The recruiting, the pressure that even if you go 13-1 14-1 but lose the NC has to be draining. Look at Bamas season. They trounce a bunch of bad teams, almost get beat by a overrated Dawgs team, (20 point loss to a team that if not for OSUs 2nd string QB was projected to win 6 games, lost to a just above average Texas team that was playing its best ball of the year) for most programs, they would take it in a heartbeat. For UM, Bama, Clemson, OU, OSU, ND, Texas, Penn State, etc, that's a disappointing season. Let that sink in for a minute, not winning it all at those schools is a disappointing season. If these teams do not win it all, most fans will say, "we need to get better," because expectations are you're playing for a NC every year. I think that along with being stubborn has taken the fire in his belly out. Most NFL fans are happy to at least win a game in the playoffs unless you're the Pats, Steelers, or Cowboys. I could be way off base but I think the college grind has taken its toll on him, but he can't bail or he would get destroyed by the fans and media. If you don't have a win it all or bust mindset at the traditional powerhouse schools, then you're the wrong coach. I think Jim wants the NFL again, but can't leave under these conditions. 10-3, losing to your rival every times, 1-9 vs top 10 teams and 1-3 in bowl games is not Michigan football. But Bo Schembelcher was 5-12 in bowl games so Moeller was better than both in bowl games. I hope he gets better because if Bama loses to Georgia they still get in the playoffs or don't win the SEC they get in the CFP. They would never put us both in like they do the SEC. Imagine a day when OSU vs Michigan for the NC ever happened. That would be EPIC!!

Harbaugh wants things way to complicated his system is to complex,and he needs to simplify his offense. He also needs to have a position coach for every position to specialize, and focus on just coaching that position instead of coaching 2, or 3 positions at a time. Having a run game,and pass game coordinator needs to end too he should just have one offensive coordinator to call all the plays, and get some cohesiveness going on his offense, and he should stop giving job's to coordinator's that don't deserve it. His scheme is horrible too it's a joke to have someone calling the run play's, and someone else calling the pass play's.

I know right? 10/10 times they replay that game in good weather, Michigan wins, and 7/10 times they replay it in bad weather. No one is betting their mother that Barrett got to the spot to gain. Besides, that was probably the best 60 minutes put together by any team in any game last season that still lost. There were issues with the refs in the muffed punt game. No one gives Harbaugh credit for that hard fought 14-7 win over Wisconsin.

I remind you that Jim Tressel came out of a division 1AA program to coach the Buckeyes and made Michigan his bitch for most of his tenure. Accomplishing this with no NFL experience. Jim Harbaugh is overrated but gave Michigan fans a sense of entitlement
