This is one of the best interviews of a coach, period. One of the best ones on 97.1 in a long time. Looking forward to Valenti interviewing SVG regularly.

More teams have won without tanking than tanking. Get back to me when Philadelphia wins a champ and they damn well better win a champ for the extended losing they've chosen to put their fans through... Hell why doesn't every sport team tank for years if you think that's right... Right?
@rabidsalvation90217 жыл бұрын
Shafi Ahmed not true the Pistons being the exception very few teams have won without getting transcendent talent and whether through incompetence (Cleveland) or "tanking" (Spurs) most championships are won by being bad. Philly not only just lost, they made smart trades. Netting them the Lakers pick, Sac swap and pick. Whether you believe in Embiid's health or not he was still the right pick and Simmons has huge potential. Detroit is truly stuck because they weren't pragmatic and SVG is a terrible GM.

Glad one coach in Detroit had an interview with 971 its no reason to be scared
@detroittigers12827 жыл бұрын
TheMr2face only one scared is the studio gangster Valentine who never shows up to press conferences after Jim Leyland emasculated him five years ago. Valentine came back with his tail tucked between his leg, repeating "Jim gets it", Jim Gets it, trust me Jim gets it" 😩

Idk which one of these two I’m more impressed with. An interviewer who can ask real questions or a coach who can actually sit there and answer them.

That was cool, y'all need to do more of these type of sit-downs, it's a LOT more personal and easier to get points across without somebody getting pissed off.

Boston made their moves through trades/free agency & gave up draft picks in 08. It's the exact opposite of what the 76ers are doing. Cavs would've replaced the browns for biggest clowns in Cleveland for drafting Bennett #1 if Lebron doesn't come back. Who do the 76ers draft this year? A PG since this years class is nothing but at the top & the one you drafted last year #1 is hurt? How are they going to eventually pay all these max contracts when their rookies run out? "You have to have a top pick to get talent" ... Kawhi, Butler, Green, Giannis If "the process" works and your core is set. What's your long term plan to replace these guys? Drafting later picks and developing? Trading away the stars you made waste most of their careers that are finally winning together? Or just wait it out to do it all over again? The Cavs vs Warriors every year makes the process make a lot more sense & yes the timing to take over once Lebron is out the way is there.. if all the right pieces fall into place and stay put. SVG was great

"How are you going to pay all these guys?" Umm with money? Lmao Good luck trying to find talent late in the draft and pointing out a few outliers.
@jjaj987 жыл бұрын
Jake X ya you pay all the #1's you earned from throwing away half a decade the max. What do you have left to fill out the rest of your team? You gonna give them any pieces or ride out your stars? What they got already is damaged goods their gonna carry a team long term? The spurs found how many players late in the draft since their 1 year of tanking to get Duncan? They've been yearly championship contenders and still have years to go and are arguably the best franchise in sports the last 2 decades. When you're a sustained winner you have time you can draft to mold a project to fit into your system or you're always just a move away from a ring. Who has the brighter future 76ers or Celtics who are led by the last pick of the draft and have almost wasted their last few first round picks? You can rebuild long term w/o tanking long term. You could take away the #1 this year the Celtics still have more to work with. My main point is your either gonna end up doing this over again or make moves you could've been making the years you tanked.. Just win baby.

Are you trying to act like having star players is somehow a bad thing? Are you delusional haha
@jjaj987 жыл бұрын
Jake X not at all I'm saying it takes a entire team no matter how you acquired them to be a winner year in and year out. Not purposely throwing away years on the hope that these picks workout. You're top picks the last 4 years have been hurt or traded so far. How far away is the process from ending? There's plenty of potential but it's gotta get on the court & it's not like the Bucks or Wolves don't have as much potential without historical losing. Pelicans made one trade and there future looks just as good. If MJ or Vivek took their teams through the process do you think they could build a winner? Even if they actually drafted right could they fill out the rest of the team? The magic drafted Anderson, Scott, Shaq & Webber to get Penny, and lost to a complete rockets team & split up. The Heat had the #1,4,5 of the same draft class all hall of farmers including a player mentioned among the greatest ever and lost to complete Mavs team. They beat a young healthy Thunder team who entirely built through the draft & we thought would have endless rings. Barely escape the Spurs thanks to the fact they took Jesus Shuttlesworth away from the Celtics. Then get embarrassed by that same Spurs team playing some of the best basketball you can play with a team who contends every year since tanking 1 almost 20 years ago. Acting like these picks are automatic stars & will win championships long term together because you drafted them at a high position is delusional. I'm not saying this can't work. I'm saying you're making yourself one of the worst teams in history for a unsure amount of time to do it. Damn id hope you would win something.
@TheJakeMarc7 жыл бұрын
Well duh you need a whole team but the getting stars is the hardest part. Were the Pistons last 3/4 years really that much better than the Sixers? Did they really accomplish that much more?

I don't think Andre is quick enough mentally at reading the offense, so he is fast enough to react on defense. SVG keeps saying Andre is much better at posting up, and shooting free throws in practice, and sorry, but we need players that can be great in real games. I don't think Andre has what it takes to understand that he has go above, and beyond what he has ever done to break through these mental lapse in free throws, defense, and utterly crappy post ups.
