Dude, eternal youth and immortality are two different things. Elves in fantasy are typically eternally young, but killable and thus not immortal. The same for vampires. Don't conflate two completely different concepts!The very picture drama you cited is proof that Lelouch's mark is not a code. C.C. was the one who removed the pirate's geass shard because Lelouch couldn't do it!! So code bearers can do it, but Lelouch can't. And not only that, but the pirate GEASSED LELOUCH!!! The original code theory revolved around the fact that every code bearer had a geass first and got their code from the one who gave them their geass in the first place which resulted in them losing the geass. Since Lelouch did not inherit C.C.'s code but, rather Charles the theory states that Lelouch could keep his geass and still have a code because only C.C.'s code would eliminate his geass if he inherited it. It is a bit of a stretch but, that is how the theory worked.

What people don't understand about Lelouch keeping his geass when getting a code is this... C.C. gave Lelouch his geass. A code bearer can give their code to someone they gave geass to when it fully matured. Since Lelouch obtained Charles' code, he was able to keep his geass since it was a different code, quite literally achieving Code Geass.

Neil it is a different universe, as Shirley is still alive, and there were other changes (although minor) that make it separate. So the OG seasons can remain the same, while this movie offers a new universe

@@MrInternetMan Which is why it feels pointless to keep milking the cow. The story they wanted to tell is over and done with. From this point on they are just milking his fame for all it's worth. At least with stuff like Akito the Exiled you could see the point of view of new characters and expand the broad view of the series outside the traditional Japan vs Britannia setting (by showing us a story centered on the European side of the war). Heck,even Nunally's alternative universe setting tried to do something unique by just altering the complete setting from the start by changing how the Geass works as a whole (with some humans being born with latent Geass abilities on top of the usual Geass gained through contract with immortals). Plus seeing Nunally actually being active rather than just a plot device was unique in it's own form. But this... this is just simple fanservice and when you bring back a character just for fanservice purposes, it tends to end up being unimportant fluff.

I think the only reason Shirley is alive is so we can distinguish different timeliness, because when u think about it the easiest way to show someone that it is the different timeline is to make someone who is dead in original alive in this one. With that I would say it is pretty much confirmed reason with her having almoust 0 screen time in this movie

Shirley being alive is the reason there is another series. Basically, if Shirley wasn't killed, Lelouch wouldn't have taken out the Geass Order. Thus, more Geass users would be created, like the antagonist of the film. Because Shirley was killed in the main series, Lelouch wiped out any other users from being made, ending Geass.

There's another thing you forget to mention. The thing is that a user must first die before the code fully activates. When you die the code activates plus we seen it with Charles and on Lelouch's Geass orders it said Lelouch killed Charles however after he had the code it activated when he shot himself in the heart. That's what Lelouch did.

A friend of mine just got into Code Geass and I think he's planning on seeing the movie I could be wrong while my other friend said that the only thing he remembered about the series was CC and Kallen. Me personally after going through both seasons I can safely say that I enjoyed the first season a lot more than the second one but it was entertaining and yes our two lovely ladies were indeed lovely. The fact that you mention Kallen with a new outfit and the fact that she's back to being a badass again I may want to see this now especially since this pulls the Gundam movie thing where they take place in the same universe but with a lot of key differences.

She confirmed that Lelouch was a corpse and that she reconstructed the corpse. And before you say "but he has a code mark", yes he has a mark, no it's not a code mark. It has completely different properties. it travels around his body, it doesn't make immune to geass (Shamna was geassed, Lelouch needs C.C.'s help because she is immune and he isn't). Lelouch even says he could die any momenta nd doubts he's immortal. So obviously he doesn't have a code. You feel validated? You just double downed on being wrong.

She did not 'reconstruct it' like some surgeon doctor Frankenstein you moron, no more then she did here with Lelouch's mind and she would have been able to do nothing for him had he not obtained the code from Charles. And even C.C technically dies when she's killed as she explained regarding how the World of C backs up her body, not that she's immune to bullets or swords when they do pierce through her. Obviously it's not EXACTLY the same given both he and Shamna can still use Geass at all (may I add that nobody ever explains what's up with Shamna BTW). However if Lelouch himself is not even sure what he has how can you be sure? Shamna never traditionally died in the movie, and Lelouch's speech at the after credits scene implies he can give out contracts or take Geass away. Guess we'll see how far that narrative goes moving forward, but given Lelouch is alive and walking around I'm feeling a lot better then you.

code geass ending was a masterpiece among normally bad or incomplete anime endings wraping up most story threads and leaving the the life or death of lulu up to the viewer interpretation while i love the idea of more code geass given how much i love the series going forward takes away from the majesty that was the ending luckily it seems to be a alternate timeline much like the time nunley was a mech pilot and such clamp has done a few of them

BTW clamp only does the character designs. They don't write the series. They have never done so. There would be a lot more permanent deaths otherwise.

Lelouch is one of the most, if not the most impresive fictional characters I've ever seen. He was actually able to overcome his creators' attempt to dispose of him permanently. The only other character I know of like that is Sherlock Holmes. Back in the 19th century, people actually protested in the streets when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle killed off Holmes by having him fall to his death in a fight with his arch rival, Professor Moriarty. Later, Doyle had to bring Holmes back by having him miraculously survive while Moriarty fell to his death by sticking his cane into the side of cliff. Now fast forward 100+ years and a guy like Lelouch comes along. Same concept still applies: dedicated fans keeps their stories going!

I loved resurrection but it felt too rushed and we didnt get to see many of the other characters interactions the lack of shirley and only a very few of kallen too left me a bit dissappointed

I saw the movie and fucking loved it, but Shirley living was... completely pointless. Her still being alive is basically fanservice for her fans which is ironic. Her death in R2 was something that greatly affected Lelouch's character and so it meant more to the story when she died. Having her alive effectively negates the meaningfulness of her character. As much as I do like Shirley as a character (she's a sweet, normal girl in a show about crazy people, she's an incredibly kind person, and worth liking as a character), her living has no real impact in R3 compared to the meaningful death she faced in R2 where she taught Lelouch not only was his Geass not all powerful (he couldn't stop her from dying), but also taught him the pain of loss and caused him to dive off the deep end to slaughter the Geass order.

Imagine a fight between someone who was Geassed to live and someone who resisted a Geass to die. I'd be down to see an alternate Akito that shortens it to like one movie and changes things like the other Geass movies.

What some people fail to realize in the film is that after the whole saving nunally situation occured CC and LL continued to hunt down other Geass users and either eliminate them or try to reason with them. Yes, he died and was brought back, that doesn't devalue his sacrifice because his conviction was there and that's all that needs to be understood. Yes, I feel like the movie was lacking, just felt like one long episode but it still settles things pretty neatly.

I think it was their parents. Charles and Marianne did love them at some point, but got corrupted by their geass. So it would make since that, once in Cs world, they were both freed from said corruption and save their children.

You didn't need to wait for this long for a definitive answer.the show staff have been repeating this for 10 years: Lelouch is really dead and didn't have a code.that's why they created an alternate universe, so they could continue to make money.But because his redemption through death was essential to the ethics of the show staff (their words!), they made it that he died for real in the movies too and that C.C., unlike in the anime, couldn't accept his death so she literally resurrected his dead corpse.

Great video! One small detail, though: Lelouch didn't survive the Zero Requiem, C.C. said that Shirley brought his corpse to her and that she reconstructed his corpse. So he was most definitely dead. Also, it wouldn't be quite correct to call Lelouch's new power a code since it has completely different properties: it doesn't protect against geass, the mark moves around on the body, it may not even make you immortal. That sounds nothing like a code, so we shouldn't call it that. "Why Lelouch was brought back" Money of course And it shows :(

Loved the movie. Especially the parts where Kallen and Sayoko were fighting hand to hand those were great scenes and the fact that only Sayoko was smart enough to see through that one idiots geass. I mean come on Kallen he made himself and his troops all look like Sayoko didn't you think that was weird that suddenly there were as many Sayokos as there were enemies you were just facing while the enemy reduces to two people who look like the guy who geassed you.

While Code Geass had one of the best endings in anime, it always felt right for him to “get away” with his plan. To survive. Outsmart and deceive the world. The way it was done was alright. A modified version of Code Activation theory would have felt the best. Because then “surviving” his death would have been part of a grand plan not even Suzaku was aware of. A manipulator’s fitting end.

Something interesting I liked was that the movie featured little homages to other mecha anime mainly Gundam 00, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Zoids Chaotic Century Season 2 (Guardian Force?). There were probably other Gundam series homages but, I am not familiar with enough with every Gundam series to be able to point them out. Also, the Knight Giga Armor for Lancelot and Guren was a cool addition as well and yes I am aware it was never actually called that but, it should have been cause it clearly wasn't a Knight Giga Fortress body just armor that functioned like one.

I loved it, it gave me an excuse to watch the recap trilogy and rewatch the original anime series again and I loved every bit of it. While the Lelouch x C.C. shipping isn't my favorite I don't hate it as much as I did when Naruto x Hinata were confirmed in the Naruto Anime and I always in the back of my mind knew it was gonna happen so I guess when it's not an asspull like the one I just mentioned and it makes a weird sort of sense I can get behind it. Plus Lelouch deserves some happiness after everything he's sacrificed. All in all it was a great movie totally worth the wait, and I can't wait to see what happens next, here's hoping we receive more Code Geass movies soon.

I am a bit confused after what you said about lelouch being dead in the tv series version. I remember back with the dvds came out they add an additional cut at the end showing lelouch laughing as the driver with C.C. Back then it was the company way of saying the series wasnt over.

Sometimes I just like to think they did the recap movies, just to keep Shirley alive, then do some extra scenes with her in them, either way, theirs no reason to watch the recap movies, if you've seen the anime I believe. This is the only movie worth watching~ Shirley's treatment in this film though, just goes to show that they should have just left her dead. Because her death scene was one of the best and biggest things of anime.

It was nice seeing the cast together, although you could tell the writing was not the best. I think it's fair to say it's mainly there to lay the groundwork for future animes that explore the code geass universe, with some hand waving when it comes to tying up loose ends (like Kallen). I actually have a small theory on why Lelouch was able to keep his Geass while also obtaining a code. If you think about it, every other instance of someone obtaining a code was through the person they contracted with. However, Lelouch did not aquire the code from his contractee C.C., he got it from V.V. code which his father had. That could be an explaination because he never officially finished his contract with C.C. thus her contract still flows through Lelouch while he also has obtained V.V. code, thus imortality and most likely, he can also make contracts with people just as other code users can. How else could you explain it? He has the mark of code on his chest, and he can still use his geass. However, one thing is for certain, Lelouch does have both code and geass, that can't be disputed because the movie even mentions how he got the code which shows on his chest and he can still use geass. Only reason he was out of it in the movie until entering C's World is because dying is the catalyst to which I guess you soul goes to that would and back with a code attached to it. However, C's World portal was close so Lelouchs soul got in, but it couldn't get out.

One thing I can see as to how Lelouch kept his geass despite getting a code is: The Code Bearer he takes his code from is not the one that granted him his Geass, it being C.C. If he took it from her, she would have died, as is known from her story of how she got hers. He got it from Charles instead.

One way to explain why Lelouch could have both Code and Geass is actually rather simple, so much I find it hard to believe people hasn't thought about it. In all instances where Geass users accuire Code, hey lose their Geass, but that's only because the Code user was the one who gave them their power to begin with. Lelouch got his Geass powers from C.C but the Code, would have been his father's, meaning he could accuire Code, while still keeping his Geass since C.C still had her Code.

As brilliant as Lelouch was, his reason for dying was pretty stupid. It didn't take long for us to go back at each pthers throat after Hitler died so how Lelouc could think that he would be the exception is even sillier. I'm glad his Zero Requiem failing during the movie was a nice , realistic and believable touch.

I’d just like to point out, you got some things wrong in the explanation of the show’s lore. The World of C did not allow the souls who joined it to rejoin the living by hijacking people’s bodies and C.C could not talk to the dead from the World of C. The only example of this in the show, Marianne, actually was not a part of the World of C (even though her body was dead). She was only able to hijack/possess a living body because that was the specific ability of her Geass when she was alive, and she only succeeded in doing so by using her Geass on Anya in the moments before her own living body died. She simply transferred her consciousness to Anya before she could join the World of C in the first place. C.C’s telepathic link with Marianne, on the other hand, was never fully explained if I remember correctly, but it had something to do with their Geass contract. Also, I thought that when Lelouch stopped his parents, he didn’t collapse the Collective Unconscious at all. Wasn’t what he collapsed the Sword of Akasha - the weapon used by the Ragnarök Connection - that was trying to DESTROY the Collective Unconscious? I’m unsure of any semantic difference between collapsing and destroying the Collective Unconscious, if there even IS any, but wouldn’t causing the CU to collapse at least partially destroy it, or hinder it in its normal function? That was the goal Charles and Marianne used the Sword of Akasha for in the first place. When Lelouch used his Geass on the CU, he asked it to “continue the march of time” (because destroying the CU would stagnate the world and strand it in the past, a world of memories), so wasn’t he collapsing the Sword of Akasha by asking the Collective Unconscious to *continue operating as normal* ? Aside from Lelouch’s Geass giving it the push it needed to destroy the Sword, I was of the understanding that the Collective Unconscious remained unchanged/unharmed, since that was the point of stopping the Ragnarök Connection. I’ve seen Resurrection, but my exact memories of how they explained the change to the Collective Unconscious in that movie (as well as any changes they might have made to the whole Ragnarok Connection climax in the last recap movie) are still relatively vague, so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Sorry but I knew that the producers said that Lelush's story was ended, not that he was dead ( this could also mean that in the original univers he is still alive with C.C. but no one will know of them and so their story ends there ) or have they said explicitely he was dead ? Also, I don't think that he being alive is not correct for what he has done since now he and C.C. have to carry the weight of immortability together and they will never see their loved ones again, living like outside of this world. Also, of you think about it he killed innocents "only" 2 times, whithout considering the soldiers and the people who worked for the empire : the first time when the frane was more big than he expected and the second when he went mad after Shirley's death and destroyed the "geass community ". Nontheless if he was dead he would have broken the promise to make C.C. happy. What do you think about it ? I'd really like to listen others opinion about it ( so everyone who wants to say them, pleas do it ) P.s. sorry if my English is not correct but it isn't my first language
