An interesting fact about this episode is that the writers/producers of the show made Damon snap Jeremy’s neck bc he was supposed to be an antagonist but he was a fan favorite amongst viewers and the writers wanted more time of “Damon being the villain and Stefan being the hero”. They said that they wanted Damon to do something that would be ‘unforgivable’ to the audience and this was their attempt. It didn’t work bc he was still a favorite 😭😂 Anyway, I actually think the scene with Damon snapping Jeremy’s neck served as a reminder that Damon is still impulsive and just bc we previously saw some slight change in him, it doesn’t mean that he’s fully developed and going to do a whole 180. He was impulsive and only seemed to truly realize what he had done when Elena screamed. Now he’s going to have to see the consequences of his actions and how it impacts his friendship with her. The difference in Elena and Katherine is so well done that I genuinely sometimes forget they’re played by the same actress when I watch the show even though they have the same face.

I don’t want to put any spoilers but given how things progress between the three people who were in that scene (Elena, Jeremy, and Damon), how Elena acts in the next episodes towards Damon, the fact that Jeremy is okay, and keeping in mind that it’s a supernatural show, I was able to move on from it. Also, I absolutely adore Elena and don’t think she reacted inappropriately to the situation.

@@-Sophia I think he means that in a situation where Damon kills her brother, how does she forgive him? After everything he’s done she still continues to gravitate towards him. And that’s what he’s referring to when he said, “I can never get on board with Elena”. Also knowing that he did it purposefully trying to actually kill him makes it worse. No it’s not a spoiler because they’re like 10 episodes ahead

@@cptayne Personally, as long as that specific reaction isn’t posted, I think it’s still a spoiler so I won’t be speaking on it in detail rn but all I’ll say is yes Damon tried to turn Jeremy and he does admit to not knowing. When he does admit to it, Elena reacts to that accordingly. This isn’t an overnight thing where she says she hates him in this episode and then in the next she’s besties with him. As for how she would forgive him, If she were to forgive him, I’m sure it would take time and we would get to see how it would happen (this is my way of saying pls rewatch their convos/interactions after this episode). Also, as I said, if that’s how that person feels about the scene then that’s fine but we’re shown how all three of their relationships with one another progress not only in this season but throughout the show. The way I see it is that I’m not going to be more upset over this scene than even Jeremy himself was. I’ll leave it at that bc I can’t say more without going into spoilers.

@@-Sophia I don't know if the owners of the channel allow us to talk amongst ourselves with spoilers as long as we put a warning, so I'm going to give it a try to argue a point! SPOILERRRRSSS!!! SPOILERRSSS!!! SPOILERRSS!!! I think that some people's criticism towards Elena for forgiving Damon to easily or "overlooking" Damon's actions, even towards her, are fair and warranted... First, saying "The way I see it is that I’m not going to be more upset over this scene than even Jeremy himself was." doesn't really work... He was pretty mad and for quite some time, Jeremy and Damon didn't have a "friendly" relationship up until late season 4 and into season 5; from the start until that point it was hatred, mistrust and judgement from Jeremy's part towards Damon, and Damon indifferent towards him and only care in so far as how what happened to him affected Elena or his relationship with her. You say that it takes her a while to forgive Damon about this, and that would've been a more defendable point if this was the only offense from Damon towards Elena and her loved ones, even in this season, but it isn't. Yes, Elena is mad at Damon for better part of the season, but she is still around him unnecessarily some of the time in this season, but even leaving that aside... Let's go to the end of the season when she actually "forgives" him when she thinks he is going to die: that forgiveness is not just for attempting to kill Jeremy (which happened in the first episode of the season so we can say that she was mad at him for that for quite some time), but like I said he has done more, possibly worse and more recent to that moment when she forgives him: He tried to kill Caroline in a few episodes... almost got Stefan killed messing with Mason... but let's just go with the big one and the most notorious example for the people who might say that she forgive Damon to quickly: Damon forcing her to drink his blood screwing up the plan already in place and almost condemning her to become a vampire... just 1 episode later she was giving him a forgiving kiss in the mouth, after such a monumental violation of her free will... It would've looked better for her if after finding out that Damon was going to survive the bite then she go back to being mad at him for what he did, at least a little bit, but that didn't happen. So like I said, if Damon's only offense towards Elena was killing Jeremy this episode and it took until the end of the season for Elena to forgive him for it, that would've been appropriate... But Damon keep building up a list of things culminating in a pretty big bad deed and she let it all go pretty quickly, specially the last one... So I think that the people who think that Elena gets more and more blind and forgiving towards Damon's actions have very good reasons to think so, specially since it is a pretty big theme and important aspect of their relationship, how Elena does moral acrobatics in order to square Damon's actions with her feelings.

Stefan do love Katherine but that was a long time ago he didn't love her for 150s years like Damon... And Stefan saved Elena before he even knew her, he saw someone crash in the sea and tried to saved them, and that happen to be someone who look exactly like his ex lover, and it was no surprise he wanted to know more about her.... Damon met Elena first but he compelled him to forget they met, because he was in love with Katherine at that time not Elena, that's why he didn't do anything, Damon only fallin love with Elena after he find out the truth about Katherine that she didn't love him and only used him

Stefan it's first in line to refer to himself as a monster and knows very well about his darkness impulses, hence his efforts to constantly keep that side of himself in check... The big difference is that one chooses to embrace and enjoy the darkest parts of being a vampire and the other one doesn't and does what he can to keep those impulses in check... He is the first to tell Elena that when he is at his worse he is indeed worse than Damon... I think you are confusing the reasons why other characters or the viewers see him as "better" or in a better light than Damon; Not because he CAN'T be just as bad or even worse than Damon, it's because HE CHOOSES NOT TO BE and because most of the time he succeeds in keeping the monstrous parts of himself in check and maintaining some moral standards

I’m glad that Kyle pointed out the John/Stefan scene bc Stefan told Damon an episode ago to stay out of Elenas business with her family and then in this episode he threatens John when she walks out of the room. It’s pretty hypocritical. Katherine is interesting and also insane, she found out so much about Elenas life. She knew about Bonnie and about Caroline. Bonnie felt Katherines arm and knew it wasn’t Elena but Caroline had no idea. Katherine saying she loves Stefan and not Damon was heartbreaking bc she had toyed with both of them for so long. So much went down in this episode and I enjoyed hearing the discussion, looking forward to the next reaction ☺️

TWO A WEEK REACTIONS?! Woo I'm glad. Also, to fully enjoy the series unbiased please ignore the wars that go on in the comments over which ship or which brother is superior lol. Its really fun to just watch the show and choose a side (or no side) for yourself, and to me the show is still best watched as a story about two supernatural brothers with twists of romance, high stakes, and fun lore in it! This season is one of my favorites because I owe it for how much it shapes some of my favorite characters. Season 6 is my top favorite simply because of one character that gets introduced, but season 2 is honestly so well written *and* has great character introductions and developments... I'm realizing as I'm typing that maybe this is my favorite season really lol. Love the reactions guys, can't wait for you guys to get to know Mason more. I really liked his character in a similar way I like Ric!

Katherine is and will always be iconic though, I love her so much till the later seasons (but i pretend it never happened lol).
