Bonenzo also had an adorable moment where one of my favorite things Enzo says to her happened, “Bonnie Bennett, to me you’re the whole damn world” I love that Bonnie is his priority and that she has someone who loves her that much

I blame Matt for Alaric going after Damon. He was still reeling from losing his kids and getting them back. Matt played on a father's fears to take out his rage on Damon. Damon had NOTHING to do with the kids getting taken, hell, he helped free them despite the fact he has his humanity off, and serving a siren who has screwed with his memories.

There are not enough words to explain how much Alaric and Caroline (to a certain extent) pissed me off this episode. They both did absolutely nothing of value this entire episode, and they have the gull to get mad at Stefan and Damon who are actually trying to do something? I understand that their children were taken and they’re freaking out because they’re scared, but while they were dicking around, Damon and Sybil were coming up with the only plan that would work to save the girls lives. This is still when Damon has his humanity off by the way, and he’s still willing to trade his life for theirs. He also knew that Stefan would agree to the plan, because he cares about them too, and would trade his life as well. I’m glad that Caroline realized she was wrong and apologized to Stefan at the end of the episode. But why the fuck did Rick think killing Damon would be a good idea? Does he not know that if Damon dies it’ll put his girls in more danger, considering he’s taking one of their places to work for Cade? Damon is literally no threat to them. And I’m sorry, but him saying “this is for Tyler” when killing Damon, was so weird. Like, I’m sure he’s sad that Tyler died, but were they ever that close? Damon was Rick’s best friend, and he can kill him just like that?

In all honesty, it’s clear the writers had no idea what to do with Damon after a certain point. Which is why no matter how much Damon grew as a character, they kept reverting him back to borderline season 1 Damon and having him keep going through the process over and over. In season 5 when Elena “dumped” him. In season 6 with the cure. In season 7 with him abandoning Stefan. And even in the final season they do the same thing except they just make it so he’s under someone’s control.

@@hali_55 To me season 5 is the only time out of the examples you mentioned of Damon truly reverting back to his old ways. The cure storyline in season 6 was literally just him struggling with telling Elena about it for a few days, then when she found out, they talked about it, and it was fine. Season 7 was Damon, after a series of failures, (which weren’t even all his fault), stupidly thinking that he couldn’t do anything right, and was putting everyone in danger, so he took himself out of the equation. He literally thought everyone was better off without him, which to me, is a far cry from his season 1 behavior of basically being the villain. Season 8 I literally don’t blame him for anything, considering Damon and Stefan both go through the absolute ringer this season, by having no control over their actions at certain times, and having their humanity off.

Honestly, I pretend this episode never existed. That's how mad I am at the writer for ruining the Ramen friendship. Another thing that pissed me off is Ric telling Caroline that those are "his kids", as if Care caring for them and loving them didn't mean a thing. I know that in that moment he was mad and scared but that was so unfair. I loved your reaction even tho I don't carry this episode in my heart (like at all). PS: "detoured on some random backwoods path to hell" is a line that Caroline said and one of my favorite lines in the entire show.

I am mortified for this episode I hated Alaric deeply towards Caroline and Damon, I really understand Alaric has lost a lot and it is two little girls his daughters he lives for them, but Alaric thanks to Caroline you have two little girls and there is no frustration that excuses the words spoken to Caroline, those are Caroline's daughters. Point. Dear Alaric you have been a vampire too you have been dark too, you killed because a ring made you crazy but what do you say ... love I had for this character died in simple episode

What gets me is that like...while being a vampire does put the girls in danger, the girls are witches, they're special so someone is ALWAYS going to be after them. Just like Elena being a doppelganger made her a magnet for trouble - not her fault and its not the girls fault either. So whether knowing Damon and Stefan or not, trouble was going to find her and unfortunately its the same for the girls. Which means having Caroline and other supernatural beings as allies BENEFITS them more than it hurts them. Ric was so dumb in this episode and sadly i stopped caring about him after this.

i literally only bothered to watch and finish s8 to see what happened with bonenzo... all the other characters and dynamics got ruined lol. i loved steroline's friendship/dynamic (just recently started liking their romance) but even that wasn't done well. the proposal just didn't hit for me bc the context of everything else was such a yikes.

edit: spelling you know its bad when Katherine and the Originals still feel like bigger badder threats than Rayna Cruz- someone Klaus was shown to be afraid of- and the *literal* devil/hell... like i swear according to the lore of the show technically Klaus wouldn't be able to easily defeat Cade or Rayna, but they were so badly written up that my mind is convinced he could take them if he was mad enough 😭 they did a way better job hyping us up for the Originals as like this big great power you can't really ever defeat that it really highlights how bad of a job they did with the writing for everyone after. i feel like sybil (like all of the few things i like about the last 2 seasons) would've been better off introduced earlier in the show. the whole concept is really cool, but as much as elena's character wasn't interesting to me, sybil probably would've felt more like a stake-raiser if she was around when both brothers were still annoyingly fighting for human elena's heart lol

stefan sacrifices everything for everyone . i love him for it but shit he can’t catch a break .. he’s been through non stop hell every since season 1 when he was going through it with the blood & guilt season 2 when he sacrificed his happiness for damon’s life season 3 when he had to be klaus slave . fought to hold himself together just to lose in the end season 4 thought he had finally found happiness with elena & she goes & betray him right along with damon . now he has to see them together season 5 he drowns all summer . brain fried . dies . his brother dies season 6 going through the motions of not having damon in his life & losing caroline . he’s forced to turn his humanity off .. again season 7 gets put into the phoenix stone & goes through it season 8 he sacrificed himself but yes i just wanted to point out how much he go through for other people . he never caught a break

But you talk about bullshit really untrue things so Damon proposes to Sybil to be a slave to him and his brother to Cade instead of the girls, he sacrifices his brother and you say that Alaric had to kill him because in the past when Damon and Alaric were nothing and between the other also in the first season was without humanity being attacked by Alaric who without investigating his wife wanted to kill himself and got killed by Damon, but how the fuck did he give you this series, I do not pretend that Damon likes it but it costs nothing. to say how things are. We remember that Damon was next to his friend when he was crazy for the ring and in the end he defended him from Liz he never criticized him and he was next to him, we remember that when an original was made he went around killing the originals and consequently every vampire including Damon, Stefan, Caroline etc. Damon stood by him, Damon didn't try to kill Alaric he fought with him and defended the others and him but he never thought about killing Alaric and when he died with Elena, Damon mourned her at his grave. So no I love Alaric but no what he did was really horrible towards Caroline, STEFAN who sacrificed himself for his daughters and especially towards Damon who in one way or another is he who saved her. girls. Alaric just has to be ashamed of what he did .... be objective because this is reality.

There is instead of going to somehow capture Selin and Sybil because he knows he destroyed Damon, they kidnapped his daughters, Alaric teams up with useless Matt to kill Damon as the problem solver🙄 there is Damon finds no humanity way to save the little girls by sacrificing him and his brother is Alaric kills Damon, and acts like shit with Stefan who sacrificed himself for the girls ... seriously? at least heck even having him with Damon you killed the brother of whoever sacrificed himself for your daughters anyway 🙄 but how will he look Alaric and Matt in the eyes, Stefan in saying that he killed Damon?

last thing but thanks to the show writing i stopped liking alaric (and i stopped wanting to understand matt) basically right around rayna's season. that season obliterated the best dynamics- dalaric, denzo, and bamon bc for whatever reason reverting damon back to square one of "i'm selfish and its all i know how to be" after the major character arc he'd had and bonds he made was a good idea to the writers. imo s6 was the last good season (gave me hope after s5) and the family ties aspect of season 7 with lily and damon facing his grievances with her were the last good shreds of the show.
