I think Elena not being able to hold the secret was bc she doesn’t really lie to Damon so having him around and knowing she’s keeping something had her nervous, which is why ultimately she tells him anyway (after calling out to him when Enzo was drowning her). They all kinda suck at lying tho bc Caroline can never keep a secret, Stefan was telling Damon to stop looking for Enzo, and Elena was avoiding Damon lol

I've always said how much Stefan loves his reputation as a good guy when he tells Caroline he didn't say anything to her about Enzo because he was afraid of what she would think of him, so he did with Elena too but look at Stefan what to show you for. what you are even with the flaws and mistakes makes you true, people don't have to love you just because you are always a good guy but let these women know you for who you are and not for what you want to be.

Caroline didn’t technically die like everyone else. Damon and Stefan got shot, Elena went off the bridge, but I believe Caroline was already in the hospital when Katherine decided to turn her. She once said that she would never pick one because if she does she would lose the other, which is what katerine and many other characters have pointed about Elena. She holds the Salvatore on a leach and they let her. She's dating one while at the same time kissing and going to bed with the other. She brainwashed her brothers mind so hard without his consent and her excuse was to protect him. That's not protection, that's putting him in danger by forgetting something that he could try to defend himself in case let's say the danger decides to follow him like kol did. She's always backstabbing people that puts their trust on her like Rebecca, Elijah, tricked kol with an excuse of peace just so her brother could kill him, uses Bonnie only for her magic, tells that people are in denial but wen Jeremy died she was the one in denial. She questions why Stefan was pissed cause Damon killed Lexi and questioned why Damon was pissed when Stefan accidentally killed Enzo and then when it's her people that dies, she starts breaking down in tears. Emotions to be felt are only if she's the one suffering. Also, remember when she was constantly using Damon to brainwash Jeremy, and Bonnie told her she had no right to do that and she said was to protect him ? Then why when Caroline's father was stabbed by Alaric, and Caroline wanted to compel him to drink blood, Elena immediately told her that it was his choice. Where was Jeremy's choice when Elena brainwashed him more than once ? She gets pissed at Damon for killing the wittmore family which Damon the entire right in the world because they were kidnapping and torturing vampires for their own benefits. Elena thinks that everything is about her when it's not. There's an entire list of things that can literally be used against Elena "logic".

It just bugged me because she had lied to Bonnie, Jeremy, Caroline, Damon, Matt, Jenna, John, and even Elijah when he asked her about Esther's plan in season 4... none of her responses were as badly written as it was in this episode. @@specialagentweener1073 Elena is not my favorite character among her it is Caroline I prefer and I love Bonnie, I think she is the best female character in the series and despite having defects she too has improved in the path of the series and has a crazy development both temperamentally and as a supernatural being said this, however, I find myself defending Elena because I consider the criticism against her to be exaggerated and incorrect. Elena has flaws and she's wrong so much I find her characterless at times and too dramatic even if now she has balanced herself a bit since being with Damon and became a vampire, she hasn't had the explosive change like Caroline but she has improved slightly. In life unfortunately and especially in the context of Elena's life or others you find yourself being forced to lie and tell lies to save your loved ones and friends even if it is not correct and these lies later have consequences hurting someone, the thing what distinguishes it is if in mistakes or actions these are done with the intention of hurting with malice and this is absolutely not the case with Elena because if she lied it was to protect everyone as well as the other characters doing the wrong things to save and protect their loved ones and friends. In this situation, for example, I have not seen anything bad that Stefan lied Damon although I know that Damon temperamentally hates lies more than normal and I also believe that in the end he could have told him since it was not he who killed Stefan directly but I understand very well and I would have done the same because Stefan knows that his brother has problems with self-control in managing his emotions and his humanity, I would have done the same so Stefan lied in good faith. Elena in this situation found herself among the brothers and despite not agreeing she accepted what Stefan did, leaving Stefan to take care of his brother. So Elena also found herself lying, hiding something for the sake of others whether it was a brother, boyfriend or friend. If I criticize Elena because in this case she found herself lying for Damon by supporting Stefan and you see badly Elena's lies you must also have a bad view of Stefan's lies but I tell you as Elena bores many of you when she does what she does too. other characters only beat her. I was much more intrigued by Katherina than Elena but I can't compare Katherina's meanness or what she's done to Elena's "meanness" in her quest to survive and protect her loved ones.
