An encounter with the most Venomous snake in North America, the Coral Snake.
WARNING! The handling of venomous snakes should only be done by competent, (if not slightly foolish) professionals. When possible leave nature where it belongs, in nature.

Gorgeous specimen! ILove's comment is correct for North American coral snakes, but NOT for the Central & South American species, some of which have red and black rings touching. Coral Snakes normally are very secretive, shy and retiring, usually found hiding under something. They rarely bite unless grabbed, handled roughly or startled. This does NOT mean, however, that one should free-handle a Coral Snake . Although they have short erectile fangs, like other Elapids (e.g., Cobras, Mambas) they have very potent neurotic venom. Bottom line: Admire its beauty, but leave it alone!

The color pattern rule only applies to North America. I think down in Central and South America red can touch black and it still could be a coral snake. Also do we know for a fact is the most venomous snake in North America? I’ve heard the Mojave rattlesnake might be the most venomous or even the Eastern diamondback.

I was barefoot when i had a encounter at dusk with a large coral snake in cut grass. It flicked it's tougue at me at 3 ft away it could see me. It was very timid it reversed it's course and went down a hole. A guy was mowing his yard i told him he didn't care. Beautiful just DON'T TRY PICKING IT UP OR DISTURBING IT. LEAVE IT IN PEACE & IT WON'T BOTHER U. IT WAS SO TIMID I THINK THAT'S WHY PPL THINK THEY CAN PICK IT UP BUT DON'T IT'S EXTREMELY VENOMOUS AND WILL BITE.

I had a run in with a large coral snake in texas it was not aggressive i was barefoot and it was basically in a short grass we both kept our 2-3 ft. Distance i remember it's beautiful head black with large scales on the head like elipids cobras its related to i was supprised hoe quickly it went backwards it was rathet timid ad long as i left it alone. If you see this snake taje pictures whatever but don't pick it up it don't want anything to do witk you. It sometimes kills other snakes. They are beautifully lethal.

You are smart to wear gloves. I read where their neck is actually deceptively muscular and strong and they can strike quickly and they do not need to chew to envenomate you. Yes you are accurate about venom not having the necrotic agents of the vipers but allegedly there is not much antivenom currently being made because it is too expensive too make . They have Crofab for the Rattlesnake bites and others for Cottonmouth and Copperhead but currently scarce and sometimes outdated anti-venom for Coral Snakes .

Beautiful snake. Amazing how docile he was. I think I mentioned in another of your videos that I have encountered several here in Louisiana and the speed at which they traveled and disappeared under the pine straw was stunning. I kicked back the straw and they were long gone. One was huge for a coral snake.... probably 3 feet long and close to 2" in diameter. Your confidence is impressive.

Do you have a death wish? OMG, this is so stupid. Also, any snake expert will tell you that stupid rhyme is not reliable at all, and they suggest to not use it at all. If you’re actually teaching it to people and showing them it’s okay to play with a coral snake, you are immensely irresponsible.

Wearing leather gloves for protection against the small mouth of a coral snake only works if you don’t have gloves with holes in the fingertips! Fingers and toes are where most humans are bitten with coral snakes. Not a good example.
