this album was a slow burn for me - rich was already off into his own guitar style and writing, and this was the last leg of he and nick's psych darkness. this track esp but also the opener. they left behind a great body of work as a team. shame that the geniuses didnt get along.

Highly agree. Their group work was total out of league. Nick carried that magic through all their albums. I have never felt more desperation for a new verve record after forth but this is where their legacy ends. I can’t be the only one begging for a verve reformation

Forth's "Catching The Butterfly". It's not as quite as good as CTB, but it's better than nearly everything on Forth.

But Catching That Butterfly is from Urban Hymns

@@matthiascerebri3315 He is saying that this song is like Catching the Butterfly. Hence this song is Forth's 'Catching the Butterfly'

All the B sides from Forth are great. All Night Long, Major Force, Blue Pacific Ocean, Chic Dub, The Thaw Sessions and Muhammad Ali (although that was a unreleased track from A Northern Soul)

Overall Meaning: The Verve’s song Ma Ma Soul is a trippy, melodic track that speaks to the ephemeral nature of life and love. The lyrics suggest that we never know where we are going or what will happen to us, but instead of dwelling on this, we should focus on living in the present moment and enjoying what we have while it lasts. The repeated phrase “Ma Ma Soul” seems to act as a kind of mantra, encouraging the listener to connect with their innermost self and find peace and meaning in the chaos of the world around them. The verses of the song alternate between musings on the transience of life and expressions of love and regret. The chorus serves as a release and a celebration, urging the listener to fully embrace their emotions and connect with others on a deeper level. The final section of the song features a spoken-word poem that further emphasizes the idea that we should not fear the unknown, but rather see it as an opportunity to grow and learn. Overall, Ma Ma Soul is a complex and compelling track that showcases The Verve’s knack for blending introspective and emotional lyrics with inventive and eclectic musical arrangements.

Dude, I can't hate. Taste is relative. I personally think their E.P. and Voyager 1 and first couple of albums were pretty near perfect. The sound they created live was otherworldly. The B-sides from forth were amazing. And I think Nick had talked in interviews about Forth being the band's best album because they finally knew what to do in a studio. Anyways. I appreciate the love such a great band. Cheers everyone
