The track is supposed to be named after the artist who sang “simply the best”, who went off the music scene after the late 1980s. From what I heard they titled the track due to using a few notes of the artists’ music from one of their songs. Does anyone know what it was called?

The song that transcends time and space, the song that makes your ego disappear, the song that is whole and holy. I read in an interview that Nick McCabe said that during Urban Hymns studio sessions, a spiritual air was present. That very spiritual force in the air played together with them in this song. I know for a fact that something Holy, something that is beyond just human capacity, whether you call it God or whatever, was and is present in this song. This song, from start to finish, is Joy, Beauty and Love.

@@megadave1197 - Nobody can compare a Verve record and a RA solo record and think they are on neutral ground! Verve records are truly classic. It makes me sad to hear the inferior RA solo material. The songs are simply lacking the Verve magic!
@PerpetualAlfa2 жыл бұрын
Nick did a lot of uncredited production work on the album, and him coming back to the band benefitted the album 10 fold. Richard struck gold creatively with his song writing and I think having that be the driving force of the album was the right choice. It sent the band stratospheric and they released one of the best selling, most critical acclaimed albums of all time.
@megadave11972 жыл бұрын
@@PerpetualAlfa Its definitely their best selling but I don’t think it’s their best creatively. It’s too disjointed and has great traditional Verve songs like Neon Wilderness buried among more commercial friendly songs like Space and Time, Lucky Man etc. The Verve has two different sets of fans those before UH and those after. I’m not complaining it’s fine if any band deserved their day in the sun it’s the Verve.
