I can't believe this song wasn't a hit in the UK, it's fucking great

You know what I love about this man? He feels so much every single word, every single chord.. He's possessed when he performs, he is transported to a different place; did you notice that he didn't open his eyes, not even once? That's artistry, in one of it's purest and most moving forms..

Don't think i've ever heard anyone inhabit a song the way Richard does in this version. One of my favourite songs of all time. Meant the world to me aged 15. And still does now. Incredible piece of songwriting. Perfectly backed by a band ready to take on the world. Beautifully put together. 2:37 onwards is so unexpected. Sung by someone totally in the zone. The melding of Ashcroft's vocal and Nick's guitar t 3:02 is just insane.....

Me, too! Then I discovered they just came back. I LOOOOVVE the Verve! I heard Bittersweet Symphony some time ago and didn't think much of it. Now I hear stuff like this. Wow. Amazing. McCabe and Ashcroft are pure genius. Listen to the guitar in Life's an Ocean. It is like whale song. The lyrics in the songs are pure poetry, too. The Rolling People, Drugs Don't Work, Slide Away, etc. I love this song so much.
