I love Rod all day every day and I know more about him than anyone else who has done this song. I also don't know who the song was written for and or who did it originally. All that to say I think rod does it best. This performance is so good and the studio version is even better. He puts exactly the right touch on it. Perfect instrumentation. Perfect tempo. Perfect whisper. He didn't prettify it, or touch it up. He sang it with raw emotion and perfect timing. He sounds like he's about to burst into tears and that makes it so lovely.
