Then there is OneFC, giving bonus to fighter in their first fight, during the free Friday weekly events, because it was a good fight. I've seen even both fighter get the pot bonus because the bout was that good. One time, the owner went on stage for an announcement, once there he just gave the same bonus to the translator because he really liked how he did the job. The translator was on the edge of breaking into tears on stage. UFC aint gonna do some chad moves like this anytime soon.

MMA is a sport, the UFC is a business. That's how it's always been, that's how it's gonna stay. You can be the best fighter in the world, but if you don't bring in enough money, and Dana doesn't like you, you're out. Doesn't matter how skilled u are at fighting. U need to bring PPV.

The boxing game is a business too, Usyk, Canelo, Crawford, AJ aren't known for their marketability and charisma yet they're the best and subsequently the highest paid. UFC won't last, because someone with a larger wallet will come around and pay and insure their fighters.
@j.menapace625
@j.menapace625 3 ай бұрын
@@Fondrom Um, what? Canelo has at least four bouts that have broken the million-buys mark for PPV. Only, like, three guys in the UFC have ever done something similar-- two of which don't fight anymore while the third hasn't fought in years. Shit, even his most recent bout with Jermall Charlo did between 600,000 - 700,000 buys-- more than almost anyone in the UFC. Usyk and AJ's last fight did over a million buys while Bud's last bout did 650,000 buys. Volkanovski and Max Holloway wish their numbers were that good. You don't know what you're talking about, which doesn't surprise me because that's typical for an MMA fan.
@stephenbartlett1167
@stephenbartlett1167 3 ай бұрын
The fighters are also running a business with a bottom line. Ask the IRS if you don’t believe it. When I buy a PPV, I’m buying what goes on INSIDE the octagon. Inside the cage the fighters are the producers, directors, writers and stars of the show. They aren’t being paid what they’re worth
@j.menapace625
@j.menapace625 3 ай бұрын
@@stephenbartlett1167 No, they're not. The promoters are the ones who craft the storylines, arrange the players, tell the fighters what they expect out of them on the various reality shows, pressers, and face-offs, they make the seating arrangements (you think Strickland's brawl in the crowd with Dricus was an accident?), and market ALL of it so that the fans know what's going on, who's involved, and what's at stake. Not to mention they're the ones who pay not only for the show you're watching, but also for the expansion of that show to different TV networks, states, provinces, countries, and peoples. Fighters are merely tools-- a means of telling this story. You thinking they write, direct, and produce everything evidences no understanding of what you're even watching or what goes into it and should be relegated to elementary school where it belongs.

MMA is a sport, the UFC is a business. That's how it's always been, that's how it's gonna stay. You can be the best fighter in the world, if Dana doesn't like you, that's that for your career. If he likes you, pissing hot more often than others fight, being an abortion clinic on wheels and occasionally beating your spouse is a non issue and you can go on like nothing has happened.

its their job to put up an entertainment dummy the fuck? Why do you think refs tell fighters to get to work when they arent doing anything. Why the fuck is Dana paying them in the first place? for the money from the fans. Its so stupid too see these kinda comments. Its always the business first. Without money they are nothing but a fuckin backyard street fight. That is why boring fighters are kicked out immediately after they lose.

The UFC has never been about athletic excellence or matrial arts virtuosity, it's about putting on a show to maximise PPV. Through this lense Dana's decisions make total sense. Yes, a core audience will always appreciate great talent without the WWE style trash talk and antics (e.g. mighty mouse) but they are the minority. So the UFC will continue to sacrifice integrity for short term financial gain. I think, in the long term, this will hurt the UFC. Currently their success relies on being THE mma organisation, woth the best fighters, but if that's no longer true, then do as many people continue to buy PPV? I can imagine a world where One FC becomes the organisation for the top talent, while the UFC becomes more of an entertainment sideshow (I'm thinking more focus on the pre-fight, more marketing tie-ins with hollywood, maybe some crazy ring entrances etc).
